miyazaki has expended all of his good ideas. you can only make coming of age movies about flight with an old baba character so many times

I agree, I liked it until they entered the fantasy realm but there was just too much shit that doesn't belong into the same movie. Best example is when they buried the Heron and it had zero emotional weight whatsoever
It is expected and none of my concern that when an acclaimed director famous for easily accessible childrens movies decides to release an abstract art film as his final masterpiece it causes a mass pleb filtering, but you should know everyone in your life with an IQ above room temperature looks down on you
My friends shat on besto filmo Mononoke the other day. Two b***hes were saying it was "too slow". Black person, if that's slow for you then you got some issues.
>Tender kiss of her hand
I love shit like this, soulful. Remember when men used to be able to be tender and intimate physically with young women and it being about chivalry and not sexual?
>miyazaki once drunkely said "whats wrong with wanting to marry and fall in love with a 12 year old girl huh???"
People will seriously point this out, or one of the tasteful up skirts and then go "SEE LOOK AT THIS" and then say shit like "ACKTUALLY You got a friend in me" was clearly not a NAMBLA anthem about another man having his wiener inside your butthole but merely about friendship or some shit. Randy Newman is just as bad if not worse (because of the implication).
>Tender kiss of her hand

What the frick was this? I don't think I have ever seen a less coherent movie.
I agree, I liked it until they entered the fantasy realm but there was just too much shit that doesn't belong into the same movie. Best example is when they buried the Heron and it had zero emotional weight whatsoever
The plot was very straight forward, almost to the point that it take away from the film. If you somehow STILL didn't get it, then I'm sorry anon but you are literally brain damaged.
this movie rescues itself in the third act.
The first act is too slow and overindulgent.
Miyazaki has earned the right to be overindulgent.
The man is a living legend and his movies cover themes that are barely part of the western animation canon
He's done with movies, he's been saying it for a long time, he's just having fun and leaving something for his grandchild and his family, sharing it with us all is only optional.
>he's just having fun and leaving something for his grandchild and his family, sharing it with us all is only optional
then he should put it on youtube, not charge me 30 dollars plus food and drinks
>he's just having fun and leaving something for his grandchild and his family, sharing it with us all is only optional
then he should put it on youtube, not charge me 30 dollars plus food and drinks
>He's done with movies
No he isn't. He said that for simps but just announced a new movie for 2025. And possibly two more. It's the same hustle as Coppola, he said Megalopolis was his sendoff, then he says three more.
Most of this thread is bullshit. You can just go on wikipedia and read the production section if you want to see what it's "about". But if you didn't connect with any part of it emotionally you're not really going to get it and your childhood was too happy.
I liked the Oedipal subtext in the relationship with his aunt/stepmother and the younger version of his mother, I felt it strongly during the film but nobody else was talking about it, but then I found a quote from the animation director confirming it was intentional
>Because it’s about the Oedipus complex, if things became too erotic, it would have been too much. >For instance, when Natsuko says “I hate you!” to Mahito in the delivery room scene, I initially wanted to open her kimono and show her chest. But it would have been going overboard, so I gave it up in the end.
I feel like most of these types of media are just the authors thinking they are making something so profound and that will affect people emotions in a way that they will never forget, that in the end it turns out soulless.
But well, many people like thrillers of this style so i might as well be the wrong one here.
Yeah I personally like Castle in the Sky and The Wind Rises more, but most people would agree Spirited Away was a bigly important movie in helping push japanese animation & anime to a new audience and it does feel like it was a more complete and satisfying film in a lot of ways more so than any other random Miyazaki flick
Most Ghibli movies are style over substance
Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, and Nausicaa are good movies. The other 90% would not be talked about at all in the modern day if they didn't look my that
I'll take Miyazaki's thematically obtuse and personal work over the test-marketed, micro-managed, forced diversity shit Disney and Pixar have been infected with.
It was honestly pretty mediocre, so many scenes just exist to show off.
For me it's
Mononoke > Castle in the Sky > Wind Rises
Everything else isn't as good as those three but Heron is in its own category of meh
Style over substance
What does that mean? Pretty drawings over a good storyline? Are you five?
the animation is good, theres a lot of clothes being put on/taken off which is notoriously hard to animate
the story has a lot of 'huh?" moments never properly explained

>Look at me I'm special beause I love watching incoherent slob and have nothing else of value in my life to feel superior
Your comment is enough to tell me that you need to lose weight and wash your ass, just accept you're a pretentious homosexual and go away
filtered, back to marvel movies with you
just miyazaki being senile
miyazaki has expended all of his good ideas. you can only make coming of age movies about flight with an old baba character so many times
Well.
pedo overtones
I'd rape the hell out of her instead
>Tender kiss of her hand

sovl
Agreed.
what movie?
On your mark, it's like a 15 minute short
Music video for On Your Mark by Chage & Aska (the two guys).
Marvel has rot your brain

Wind Rises was a better "final movie" film
In This Corner Of The World > Grave of the Fireflies > The Wind Rises
In This Corner wasnt directed by Miyazaki you moron
Frick that's why it was so good.
Its about miyszaki and his relationship about his Son and ghibli
The plot was very straight forward, almost to the point that it take away from the film. If you somehow STILL didn't get it, then I'm sorry anon but you are literally brain damaged.

Yeah it kinda shit but I like when but it bab
America basterd pig dog mutt marvel avengers has rot your brain
It's really too bad, because the early parts in wartime Japan seemed really promising.
Honestly the guy who made princess kaguya and grave of fireflies mogs miyazaki. Miyazaki is a one trick pony
princess kaguya is just as abrupt in changing its story out of blue several times
Grave of The Fireflies is fricking excellent, but so painful I will never watch it again.
>It's so le painful
It's a fricking cartoon.
Dude, you must be, like, so mature and grown up!
Fricking overrated is what it is.
He should've stopped after The Wind Rises
It has none of the charm from his previous works
Litteraly written everywhere on the movie that it's a fairy tale told by his grandson that he loves and out of this lov he made the movie.
There's no coherence because it's literally a child pitching the movie, and an elder drawing it and giving it style.
Well that sounds like a dumb fricking thing to do.
Some kid scribbles bullshit on the wall with crayons and we're all supposed to pretend it's profound storytelling?
He's done with movies, he's been saying it for a long time, he's just having fun and leaving something for his grandchild and his family, sharing it with us all is only optional.
>he's just having fun and leaving something for his grandchild and his family, sharing it with us all is only optional

tell me where in the movie ticket does it say that you need to buy crab legs and a large cup of pepsi to be allowed into the showing
>He's done with movies
No he isn't. He said that for simps but just announced a new movie for 2025. And possibly two more. It's the same hustle as Coppola, he said Megalopolis was his sendoff, then he says three more.
At least Tarantino can be held to his word.
Sounds like a fricking homosexual. I hope he dies soon.
the protagonist wasnt a cute preteen girl, what was miyazaki thinking?
It's all downhill after Howl's Moving Castle
Anime movies suck ass.
does anyone have a torrent of this
DM me
How do you send a DM on Cinemaphile?
Edit: NVM, found it out. Have an upvote my good sir!
100% filtered. Brainlet
Is this out on streaming yet? I still see no torrents for it on nyaa

Go away, Goro
I loved it. 10/10 meditation on life and art. God damn.
same

he is literally the most overrated filmmaker of all time, by a country mile.
all his shit is completely nonsensical garbage, only the art is good
Spielberg is most overrated
I feel like most of these types of media are just the authors thinking they are making something so profound and that will affect people emotions in a way that they will never forget, that in the end it turns out soulless.

miyazaki's formula is "king of the world titanic scene" but for arthoes, weebs, closet pedos, and nips
let's see him try to make bluth's land before time. yet bluth doesn't receive red carpet flower petals
miyazaki won
disney lost
deal with it ameriBlack personmutt...
Kes for weeaboos
Princess Mononoke > Nausicaa >>>>> Spirited Away (MASSIVE power gap) everything else Miyazaki has made
I think there are at least a few Miyazaki movies better than Spirited Away. That movie stinks
Mononoke was his only kino imo.
Most Ghibli movies are style over substance
Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, and Nausicaa are good movies. The other 90% would not be talked about at all in the modern day if they didn't look my that
Is the rip out or something? It's been a while
>Florence Pugh
wtf why
even if the movie isn't one of miyazaki's best, it's infinitely better than the slop america slopimation has been churning out the past decade
I'll take Miyazaki's thematically obtuse and personal work over the test-marketed, micro-managed, forced diversity shit Disney and Pixar have been infected with.
I mean, that's not a hard bar to clear.
thats what i was thinking you cant measure ghibli films next to pixar or other western animation because the bar is incredibly low
It was honestly pretty mediocre, so many scenes just exist to show off.
For me it's
Mononoke > Castle in the Sky > Wind Rises
Everything else isn't as good as those three but Heron is in its own category of meh
that review makes me want to watch it
It's just a ching chong take on Alice in Wonderland
