>he raped and murdered a 14 year old >I don't care lol >constantly shit talks the only son she has left
she was a shit mother, that's why her son turned out so fricked up and got himself killed
Crime drama soaked in neon and told as a Greek tragedy. Oedipus complex, family loyalty, inescapable fates, retribution and judgement, etc. Plebs were filtered by just wanting Drive 2: Ladyboy Boogaloo
>Violent organized crime dealer who has probably done it all >WHOA WHOA DID MY BRO RAPE AND KILL A TEEN IN THAILAND WHERE EVERYONE IS A PEDO,FRICK THAT GUY
Even evil has standards when it's about children and rape is such a shitty movie (and IRL) trope
He literally barely gives a shit. Did you even watch the film?
He just sympathises with the father who killed the man that killed his daughter. Jesus fricking christ, how do you get filtered so hard?
I actually read the original script the other day (pretty easy to find online).
It's insane how much was changed and how much was similar. Like it explicitly mentioned that Julian killed his father, who was abusive, and fled to escape the police.
His mother doesn't die either, she manipulates everyone into doing her bidding (but gets arrested back in England). And they say "Only God Forgives" a lot in the script.
Worth a read
You know how a film builds with tension, and right before the climax there’s a quiet scene where everybody stares at each other meaningfully (like the duel in The Good the Bad and the Ugly)?
It’s like that, for two hours. Every scene is shot, blocked, and acted like we’re on the edge of a tense, climactic face-off. It’s like Refn realized it was the best part of any movie, so he made it into the entire movie. Its like if your favorite part of a banana split was the whipped cream and cherry on top, so you decide to make a banana split that’s just a big bowl of whipped cream and a handful of maraschinos
A relatable tale about a mother's love for her son
>he raped and murdered a 14 year old
>I don't care lol
>constantly shit talks the only son she has left
she was a shit mother, that's why her son turned out so fricked up and got himself killed
Bad.
great cinematography tho.
It's about man trying to fight God's will and God singing karaoke
wanna fight?
>beats the shit out of you

I genuinely like this movie. Gosling gays can’t self insert because it isn’t cool enough

Refn and his friend Kojima need to put down their quills and start adapting stories not writing original ones
also why does refn kill off his main character every time
He doesn't?
>Pusher
>Pusher II
>Pusher III
>Bronson
>Drive
>Only God Forgives
Protagonist doesn't die in any of these
Cop was god.
kino
A movie about a mother and a son with themes of Buddhism and Christianity woven in
a western movie in the east
A patrician film, so it's also a pleb filter like everything else on this list.
whoever made this list has a serious boner for Adam Sandler
>patrician film
>Adam Sandler's movies
Anon I...
>patrician
>capeshit
>Adam Sandler
>Tarantino
>Disney
>Hobbit

There was a 5 year stretch when Refn was considered hot shit
>director uses the same actor over several movies
I never liked this.
