Single parenting opened up the doors for narcissism and homosexualry real quick. Sorry for all the other kids who have to go through that and get represented through pretentious shit like this.
fin and jake's actual dad was a legend. gumbald is technically pb's kid, simon was an excellent parent when he was sane and KKW was just overprotective. besides, marceline's dad is thematic. hes "evil" because hes overly comitted to his career and doesnt share his rebellious daughter's interests.
Bubblegum's Aunt was equally in the wrong if not worse (can't bother to remember the specifics to such a terrible final arc) but she gets accepted immediately. I still hate how they had Gumbald trip and fall in the moron juice and they're like "see? he was faking his redemption!" even though that makes no fricking sense considering he had it on him prior. But who cares, men suck and women are good. Writing a competent story? Who needs it? Also get fricked Simon, now you know how it feels to never move on because they brought back your b***h girlfriend to save the day. >*Editor's note: It was Betty
>Jake dies young >Finn dies alone after 60 or so years of WANTING to die >Simon never reunites with Betty and still has mental issues from being Ice King >Fern dies >Uncle Gumbald stays moronic forever >Peppermint Buttler DOESN'T forge a new path and becomes his former evil self again
>Flame Princess becomes a rapper >LSP gets crowned queen of Lumpy Space
Princess Bubblegum never has to answer for her crimes >Aunt Lolly is forgiven >Betty got to save the world before becoming a goddess >Marceline gets to live happily ever after with her (totally not psychopathic) girlfriend
Adventure Time had a real issue of padding things out even when they knew they needed to be finishing it. Guess they didn't have enough of an idea for a finale that they needed to do a random dream hopping episode for part of it.
I like how Gumbald was just an butthole. Not every villain needs a redemptive arc.
Adventure Time had a real issue of padding things out even when they knew they needed to be finishing it. Guess they didn't have enough of an idea for a finale that they needed to do a random dream hopping episode for part of it.
The dream sequence was because of the time limitation. They needed a quick way for PB and Gumbald to understand one another's perspective.
What they did to Gumbald still pisses me off. What was the point of the whole first half of the special with him if they just were going to do that?
In the end Gumbald was just a foil to PB, and the finale's theme of change and moving on. That might've been just because they had to wrap it up so quickly though. They might've given him more depth had the show gone on.
Millennials make up an entire generation of people that has parental issues and are still facing the consequences of having parents that were either abusive or overprotective - nothing in between. It's a generational problem, like the economic incertitude after the 2008 crash, the satanic panics of the 90s, the AIDS and kidnappings of the 80s, etc.
What you should be dreading is the kind of kids that millennials will bring up.
Finn never knew his dad so its just curiosity.
Bubblegum disliked Gumbald because he was a being just like her
Marceline only feels sorry for her adoptive dad
Jake never cared about the ayylmao
Phoebes dad is an evil bastard she has a legit reason to dislke him
Kill Wan is confused why his dad is an unemployed bum
I have no idea with Jakes daughtee
>AT writers: "We broke Finn and Pheobe up so that we could do something interesting with her and let her be her own character." >Also AT Writers: *Makes her character arc a worse version of Marceline's*
i miss when pb was just a weird crazy character surrounded by weird crazy characters, because back then the point was that it was creepy for comedy, not creepy for story where shes actually good despite not being good but also look at how cute she is as a lesbian dawww bullshit
It's often said that writers write what they know. The fact that this popped up so often in Adventure Time should tell you something about the writers.
Well, yes. But I don't think it's necessarily just an increase of abusive fathers (and/or mothers). Nowadays media, children's especially, has this hyper fixation on dealing with trauma. ESPECIALLY if parental figures are involved.
Everything is over the top, characters have to lay down and cry if a parent even raises their voice. Reminder that Hutson's introduction was when Marceline was questioning his love for her after he ate her fries.. (An incident he was even going to APOLOGIZE for if Finn hadn't interrupted.)
As a result people are taking a little scorecard to their own parents, and EVERYTHING they find offense is grounds for therapy and breakdowns. Believe you me, I KNOW there are genuinely crappy parents out there, and seeking help from either friends or professionals is not only warranted, but needed. But sometimes you've just gotta let shit go. Because at the end of the day YOU have to choose happines regardless of what anyone else says or does.
Lots of failures have issues with the people who have expectations of them. Daddy issues episodes are the new "Tough Boss" episodes, because most of the 8-32 year olds this media tries to play to have never had jobs, particularly those past their 20's.
>shows all the times dads were bad
The show has plenty of good dads too. I wish had spent more times on Moms personally (Minerva was great). Part of the reason I actually like AT's themes of parenting is because of Jake. He always tries his best but with 5 kids he can't be what each of one them wants/needs. Jake Jr wants him to be a fun rouge, KKW wants him to be a responsible adult, and TV needs him to be stricter. Jake isn't any of that, he's just himself.
>I wish had spent more times on Moms personally (Minerva was great)
The constant "loving moms and shit dads" trend was getting old. Minerva was forgiven for almost genociding everybody because she had "good" intentions for it.
>Minerva
She went crazy and forced Finn to stay with her on the islands. She eventually calmed down and let him go after realizing that she was in the wrong. She's overall a good, caring mom despite this >Elise (Marceline's mom)
Protected Marcy from mutants post-mushroom war and cared for her until she died from sickness >Margaret (Jake's mom and Finn's adoptive mom)
She adopted Finn after finding him alone in the forest with Joshua. She and Joshua took care of Finn, Jake, and Jermaine before passing away of unknown causes. >LSP's Mom
She was kind of a b***h in her first appearance but mellowed out for the rest of the show. She shows great concern for LSP and wants the best for her >Lady Rainicorn
She took care of her kids with Jake until they all quickly grew up into adults. She let T.V. live with her despite him being a grown man. Lady eventually forced him to live with her parents instead >Tree Trunks
Seems like a nice mom from what we've seen of her
cuz the animators are fatherless queers
Very sad but seems to be the case for most in the industry
basically this. writers write about what they know and the current animation industry writers are all hacks with lots of issues
fippi bippi

because without a direct serial plot the show needed character-specific issues to focus on

>It's okay to fill the hole left by your father by searching for a father figure to fill your hole
Is this the true thesis of Adventure Time?
Oh Finn's fillin a hole alright
Bubblegum's Aunt was equally in the wrong if not worse (can't bother to remember the specifics to such a terrible final arc) but she gets accepted immediately. >*Editor's note: It was Betty
Bubblegum’s aunt was seen as forgivable and not Gumball because she’s a woman.
>Jake dies young
>Finn dies alone after 60 or so years of WANTING to die
>Simon never reunites with Betty and still has mental issues from being Ice King
>Fern dies

calm your breasts, I just post random pics on my folder to make browsing easier for me.

Yeah, I wonder why the woke young female writers would write something like that
what's the deal with_________?
gee idk, maybe because they fired the original writers
Write what you know
It's often said that writers write what they know. The fact that this popped up so often in Adventure Time should tell you something about the writers.
I just feel bad for Martin.
I thought he was bad from season 6.
having daddy issues is a common occurrence for our generation, is it not?

You're that guy aren't you? I'm sorry your daddy left you.
Relatable for an average viewer

I can relate
This thread is getting ridiculous, I'll have you know my father loved me very much
