What was the point of attacking Ba Sing Se during the commet and why didn't they do anything during the eclipse.
They just caused more destruction for no reason

Destiny
>no reason
Frick earthoids.
yes
Ba Sing Se was the Earth Kingdom stronghold
If all of their other campaigns failed (Azula keeping control of the Fire Nation, the Air Ships razing the Earth kingdom coast, Ozai killing the Avatar) at the very least the White Lotus could win back Ba Sing Se and give the rest of the world some hope and a place to escape to and prolong the war a little longer
I hate this insufferable Black person moral gay,I wish I could dance on the grave of his b***h mother
based katara?
based for what?
deez nuts
>What was the point of attacking Ba Sing Se during the commet
To prevent pro-Ozai elements from rallying if Aang failed to defeat Ozai and/or Zuko and Katara weren't able to defeat Azula.
>why didn't they do anything during the eclipse.
>Why did they wait till the comet to do anything
>why didn't they do anything during the eclipse.
Two of their five members are firebenders and wouldn't be able to take the city during the eclipse. Also, some of them were imprisoned and used the eclipse to escape.
they have more chance of taking out a heavily fortified stronghold since 2 of their guys are master fire benders
The point was to rape the firebenders like they've been raping everyone else
Which is more advantageous against a fortress:
>8 minutes where two of your rebel team can't firebend and the other side still has warmachines
>a full night where two of your rebel team are fricking firebending gods against mostly people trained to man warmachines
Also, dude?
>why didn't they do anything during the eclipse?
They were rallied by Iroh and he was fricking ESCAPING during the eclipse, genius.
So the fate of the world fight is entirely in the children main characters' hands. That's the real reason and there is no adequate in universe explanation.
What would happen when an occupying force from a nation that readily accepted genocide as a viable option to deal with an opponent (twice) learns their beloved leader has been killed. If Ozai was killed without Ba Sing Se being liberated the revenge killing of bored and angry fire nation zealots in a large urban area would have resulted in the largest loss of civilian life since the Air Nomad genocide.

This is honestly the best explaination I have every heard on this topic. Honest to god, so props to you anon, this is my new hc.
Imagine finally taking the enemy capital after 100 years only to lose it to 5 old men. The entire fire nation's army morale would be worse than Poland's in WW2
It was more than five, the five are the ones given the most screen time, but Iroh had gathered basically a small army of White Lotus members.
Though it is worth noting how insanely powerful those five men were, they are basically the best warriors in the entire world.
King Bumi reclaimed his city singlehandedly by spending months being in prison just to acquire as much neutral jing as possible
You are leaving out the best part, one of those old men was THE old man who failed to take it. The Fire Nation lost to the guy the Earth Kingdom beat.
>Comet
Forces are overextended on the scorched earth kingdom campaign(dumbass, they can just raise moar landmass) and probably the relation with the Dai Li has deteriorated to the point they would betray the FN if left alone? It's a do or die campaign
>Eclipse
Could do a bit of Etnhic culling but FN would anticipate that and dig in harder than I went on your mom last nite
But really the assassination attempt was dumb, it would have been better to devastate a couple of regiments(though any success in either campaign would turn kinda bloody and give FN fuel to keep the war fire going for another 3 years at least(possibly more if Ozai died), remember the eclipse as it were)
