Did you know that Friends is a rip-off of a black sitcom called Living Single. The yts at NBC knew that stealing work from black creators would not only go unpunished but it would reap millions thanks to yt America and their unconscious bias. But ya'll aint ready for that conversation yet
i watched living single as it aired. it was not as good as friends. for starters, there was little continuity. they didnt have a ross and rachel counter-part. some of the nogs dated each other, but there was no high suspense will-they wont-they bullshit. honestly, both shows are pretty dumb but this is the kind of crap you learned to enjoy in the 1990's because there just wasnt alot on tv.
I grew up in the era when Friends was popular.
I haven't actually sat down and watched an entire episode but I've got billions of snippets.
Here's the answer:
Tween/teen girls loved it. So boys tolerated it to get with those girls.
And the reason girls loved it is they love watching older 'more mature' men and women whom they perceive as role models, who also happened to live in their most memed desire city (NYC).
Back then NYC was seen as a place of glamour, wealth, and culture (e.g. "if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere").
There, I also explained almost every other inexplicable fad in the last three decades.
It's melodrama. It has its place. I'm watching it right now.
Dumb normies needed something to fill up there time in the 90s
filtered EZ
Literally Seinfeld but for tasteless NPC homosexuals
Seinfeld was literally the big bang theory of the 90s.
Seinfeldfags love to pretend as if it's some highbrow comedy when it's just as bad as TBBT.
If you can't see the difference, comedy is just not for you.
If you can't see the similarities between TBBT and Seinfeld you're just another brain-dead seinfeldfag. Sad!
If you read someone saying something as dumb as this you know they are a child and didn't exist in the 90s.
I grew up with Seinfeld and Friends and watched both.
>what’s the DEAAAALL with airline food
>funny, it's not smart, it's retarded, actors are ugly or mid, I don't get it.
You're just a broccoli head with shit taste.
It's a chad simulator with a ny 90s-00s asmr atmosphere
Say what you will about the show but come on now, the girls are gorgeous. Well at least Monica and Rachel are.
Why does Phoebe always get the short end? I think she’s pretty
It's the frumpy wardrobe they had her wear
She's not ugly, it's just that the two others are so much prettier than her.
I always saw Friends as the last remnant of that early 90s idealism before most TV changed to be more cynical, or at least realistic.
Compare Roseanne or Malcom in the Middle to Friends, The Nanny or Full House and it's like staring into an alternate reality.
They are all alrernate realities.
Thats because you are a cynical loser zoomer with no sense of humor
>It's not funny, it's not smart, it's retarded, actors are ugly or mid
You just described the 1990s.
The writing is decent, it has a comfy atmosphere and the actors made the characters really likeable. It just came together and it worked.
>mid
yeah i wouldnt expect a 12 year old to get a show popular in the 90s
>homosexual zoomers don't remember shows like Melrose Place that paved the road for this slop
why can't Cinemaphile ever enjoy anything? you guys only ever complain and fight, it must be tiresome
I only watched it for Aniston nipples
nice.

Incorrect. It was a ripoff of a British sitcom called "Coupling"
Coupling started airing in 2000, Friends started in 1994.

^He’s right you know. It was a very different time
It's comfy.
Stop being cynical and autistic.
>I'll be there for israelite
I wonder what the point is
I don't remember the hatred of israelites being so prominent back in the 90's.
Subversion.
>what was the point
>what was the moral
Take your fucking autism pills
>What was the point of this show?
To make money and they made a boat load of it.
It's a friends simulator. You're the 7th quiet friend who nobody ever acknowledges but it's always around
