Writing more like what the comics were about, but you shouldn't discount Frenchfield for not sticking to that. Pet Force proves that wacky insane sci-fi shit isn't exactly off the table for Davis.

People hate Frenchfield because it's so fricking boring, and the CGI doesn't help it.

There are some good episodes, though. I recommend the one where he's on hold.

Did you guys know that Frenchfield has a 6th, unaired season that's 2D animated and uses zero dialogue? It was planning on being aired but when Nick bought the property they told the production company of the show to piss off since they had their own animation studio, and since they didn't know what to do with the cartoons they dumped them onto Garfield's Nick website.

        Nermal being a her

sorry nermal is always a cute boy. that's just how cats roll. Orson Pig had the same thing going in the comic, which suits a piglet.

You have to wonder how they got through life before they were rich enough to hire someone to tie their shoes, feed them, and remind them to breathe.
or maybe they don't start out that stupid, but there's something about the executive environment that rots their brains. Like maybe it's tradition to go out for exorbitantly expensive meals and there's some fish that's full of mercury.

Yeah, I saw this one on YouTube. It's alright, if not particularly clever.

They were usually always that rich, or their parents were, or they belonged to an ethnicity who babies their children. To be clear, this is why Steve Bannon is the way he is.

Have you heard Parker Simmons's Garfield voice? He's got it down. They should just let him make the next G-field show.

This image is fake and gay, Arlene wasn't in Garfield and Friends. Instead there was an OC named Penelope.

this is just how they do promotional images for old shows. they grab whatever art, slap it on. the people working in entertainment are not knowledgeable about it, because of course they're not.

man apparently one of the buddy bears was voiced by lorenzo music. i didn't notice since they're pitched up, but it's nice to know he can totally disappear into a role given how distinct his voice is
I still love that story Rob Paulsen tells about when he worked with Lorenzo on a halloween commercial for Knott's Berry Farm, and he wanted to try swapping the roles for fun, and he couldn't do a vampire voice or anything but he had fun.

This. Garfield & Friends paved the way for better shows like Tiny Toons, where the characters can poke fun at things. Also the writing in G&F is better than the source material, combined with Lorenzo Music brining it to life. Lastly, I love Lanolin

The micro shorts were based on actual strips. I remember expecting them to use the dailies but they would use the Sunday strips which felt like cheating to me as a kid.

I'm still a little surprised he let the series mog both his strips so monumentally hard. Says something about his sheer avarice and total indifference to his own creativity.

Davis methinks wasn't always like that and for the bigger stories he strived for more. "Garfield's Judgement Day" getting fricked over trapped in development hell and the animated movie version never materializing probably was the killing blow to his drive beyond making money by liscencing Garfield.

Davis used to actually be willing to put Garfield in more interesting scenarios in the comic. I think a good chunk of his loss of motivation stemmed from his "Garfield in Purgatory" arc being met with such negative response that Davis simply stopped trying with the comic itself, and then the whole mess with Judgement Day drove him to quit producing anything new himself.

It's really sad honestly. Because I think even the ludicrous titles have value on how far he wanted to take the concept.

quality writing and Jim Davis not taking any shit from execs. Apparently he held back the entire thing unless they put US Acres in the show (which was his pet project).

The show had everything going for it. Funny one-liners, simple premises, and the Garfield look was at its peak. The 3D shit is just boring in comparison. No studio would spend money drawing his furry dark lines every frame nowadays.
