No it’s more like some higher up wanted to cut costs so they came up with a “new style” where they just skip out on a ton of frames. Really smart actually because the average person will eat it right up

It actually works out well for them because it cuts animation costs but also, since most Gen z'ers are always on their phones, they don't miss much when they look away from the movie. It's the same static frame with some character talking and there's nothing happening.

Yeah why not? They are both 100% CGI at this point and every year AAA games become more and more "watch" and less and less "input." Probably by 2030 we'll hit an inflection point where movies and games just merge completely in Unreal 6 and every piece of media is some weird mashup of interactive media. People will goggle into VR "goovies" from their leased PlayStations and play-watch the latest releases. All that to say that yeah sorry games and movies are pretty much the same dumb shit cut from the same millennial writing rooms made in the same stupid CGI engines.

I agree the animation is good and unique but they are essentially animating a 30 minute movie then chopping the animation down by like 40 frames per second. Rather it is clever or lazy you decide.

What a fricking stupid thing to say. They still have to do all the designs, storyboards, animation etc of a 90min movie. As far back as The Matrix, you could use AI to extrapolate inbetween frames if you actually wanted to. But they don't! So they didn't! Please stop posting

Four of the Top 20 are Manga, and if you are looking for a “Marvel / DC-style” comic, you are not even in the top hundred-and-fifty! In fact, the first DC comic to appear is at #164 with the middle reader aimed Teen Titans: Beast Boy (with Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven coming in at #200, and former best-selling Watchmen not showing up until #250) As for Marvel? Their very first appearance isn’t until (gulp) alllll the way down at #892 with Infinity Gauntlet

I cannot fathom what the world will be like once capeshit is good and dead. One year we're going to go without a superhero movie, then it will be two years, and three, and so on, and eventually people will sober up completely and look back at this nearly twenty year long fugue state with disgust and by 2035 at the latest absolutely nobody will spin up one of these visual sharts ever again and that is fricking amazing. Think about it, add up all the money poured into capeshit, even if it's just Marvel and DC movies. In previous eras of history that money would build a fricking pyramid or palace or something. But no, not us. We strapped a bunch of manchildren into spandex fricking suits and danced them around, play acting, for even bigger manchildren to jerk off to. Amazing legacy.

Disney stopped making movies for kids and focused on appeasing the woke parents of those kids and terminally online troony culture warriors. Animation has always been a medium for children and young teenagers but in the last decade animation studios have been taken over by Tumblr gays who think every movie or show should be primarily for adults. Kids hate that shit, they wanna watch goofy shit like Spongebob or fantastical action like Spiderman.

You’re both right, but it’s still a stupid decision for Disney long term. Disney will fall into the Harley Davidson trap, failing to pick up a new generation of consumers while the old demographic ages and withers away. Disney should have spent the last ten years getting market share with socially conservative latinos and suburban whites who have a lot of kids. Instead they spent years trying to comply with the increasingly unreasonable demands of aging Disney fans from the 1990s.

The only good disney animated movie recently was Soul which is about a 40 year old man having an existential crisis and coming to terms with that life isn't some race to the finish but rather how you live each day. Disney is also dead set on squeezing every bit of nostalgia out of their pre 9/11 output and can't imagine just making a good movie so it only happens when they get lucky betting on a smaller director getting an MCU movie or Pixar accidentally makes something good.
