Those who do not learn their history....
Fan service is almost always garbage and JJ proves that with his hacky dreck. Rian is the other end of the spectrum, someone who actively dislikes the franchise and his dreck speaks for itself. You don't need to be a fan or to pander to them to make a good story that respects the universe.
>Rian is the other end of the spectrum, someone who actively dislikes the franchise and his dreck speaks for itself.
I never really got that impression. TLJ ends affirming all the usual stuff, and the movie as a whole is a retread of TESB with some ROTJ thrown in. It's a bad screenplay, but I don't think it comes from a place of distaste for Star Wars. It comes from a feeling of smug self-satisfaction.
>I don't think it comes from a place of distaste
Turns the hero of the saga in to a coward, child murdering, weak homosexual who gets beaten down by a girl who found out the force was real last week. >Yo momma joke >turns yoda in to a complete moron >ancient jedi knowledge is a paper book >pretending those dice were some epic relevant to any character callback
What the frick homosexual.

It's a bad movie. But it still ends with Luke having a big hero moment, Yoda is still intended to be a voice of wisdom, and the callback is still intended to be a sincere character moment. Do you also think Lucas hates Star Wars because he made Attack of the Clones? Do you think he hates Jedi because he put a bunch of bored clueless children into the movie to wave little lightsabers around? Of course not. He just made a shit movie. So too for Rian Johnson.
>nothing
happens. the show. very few people even cared when it got released. 3-4 episodes in and even the limited attention is gone. however "good" fans of this show might think it is, it failed to grab audiences. It was DOA.
And no, it's not good. Not even compared to other Disney Wars.
its just not interesting or necessary, nobody cares about Castillian Andor, he's not some beloved character from the OT, he's not even fricking in it onscreen afaik, I think his name is mentioned a few times? I watched the first two episodes and about halfway into episode two I'm like what the frick am I doing, this is nothing, the factory police thing is moronic, there's essentially no story, nothing happening matters
It's an unnecessary prequel about a boring side character from an unnecessary prequel spin-off to a movie from 1977 about a farmer boy going out on a family friendly adventure with an old wizard, a scoundrel and a giant dog, rescuing a princess from the castle, destroying a giant sphere-shaped station shooting a giant laser. This is what this was reduced to.

It's better than the previous shows (and the whole sequel trilogy) in terms of cinematography and acting (second to the mandalorian) but it's slowly paced with uninteresting to "meh" characters at best. It would've taken off if it was just six one hour episodes instead of twelve 30-40 minutes ones that take forever to get going.
Cynical marketers pushing member-berries are driven by takes like this. Star Wars can be a lot more than rebels vs stormtroopers. It can be a slow-burn clandestine intrigue drama for adults that grounds you in its world so you can take it seriously.
But this show is literally about rebels vs stormtroopers you moron. They made another show between 3 and 4, they made another show about rebels and empire, it's another fricking prequel with MC that can't die
it's the definition of fricking pointless fan service and milking, you moron >le slow burn
More like stretched forcefully cut shit because they need to milk subscription numbers. moron.
>high qual >this is star wars for real adults like me who usually hate star wars
ADHD spergs probably hated this scene but sophisticated adults like me enjoyed it for the performance of Kathryn Hunter, who played the witches in Macbeth, and Cleopatra's slave in Rome. I appreciate cinema. I don't need to see goofy bucket headed bad guys marching around to know that it's Star Wars. It doesn't even need to be Star Wars to be enjoyable. This is the kind of realization you have when you're an adult.
Tie fighters have been showing up in small glimpses. They're trying to build up the Empire as being competent and dangerous so they're only showing small glimpses of it. The actual military side of things anyway.
I hate that I like it so much. I didn't even like Rogue One. I do know it helps that I just watched the Boba Fett and Kenobi shows and both of those are so fricking empty and boring.
It's slow burn approach is probably gonna gatekeep a lot of Disney plus subscribers to even watch this. It also doesn't help that Mando although having an overall story arc was also episodic for the most part. This just feels like a 3 hour film chopped up into episodes.
>ignore anything sequel related
There was no recovering from. People like you really disgust me, everything they've put out since is just more moronic shit leading to that abomination and total betrayal of everything star wars stood for and the characters people cared about, your the perfect disney customer homosexual.
I fast-forwarded through all the rebel cell crap because I simply didn't find it interesting. Then I found myself fast-forwarding through Mothma's family drama because I didn't find that interesting either. Nothing happened with ex-Officer Babyface either, when I was certain Ilsa She-Wolf Of The Empire would latch onto him because he had humint on Andor. I got one little tidbit of the ISB at work and a few interesting scenes of the Imperial garrison. Increasingly, I find myself more interested in the bad guys than I am the good guys.
It's all very well made, but I'm getting a bit bored. Come on gents. It doesn't need to be blaster fights all the time in order to interest me, but do SOMEthing.
>63 replies >30 posters >that one autisy just spamming people to kill themselves instead of making any points
anyway, And or is the best Star Wars Disney has made in 5 years and it's a 7.5/10, would recommend.
I pirated it cause I will never give Disney money
Not "good". But it's interesting which is far more than can be said for the other dreck. It also doesn't have stupendously awful writing where every ten minutes something implausible happens because the writers are too stupid to conceive of a rational plot.
There's a single obsessed autist making these threads; I'd say it's insane but this place is filled to the brim with Discord incels and trannies just waiting to tug the culture rope in their direction using the newest installment of children's media. Andor is decent so no one here has any use for it. I do wish we could have normal conversations about the board's fricking subject matter, but oh well. I'm enjoying it by myself after sitting through Boba and Kenobi and wanting to die.
I’m watching it because I like Diego Luna and the Guatemalan actress, she is smoking hot. I haven’t watched the last two sequel movies or any other Disney war shows. Just this and so far it’s alright
I watched andor. I like that it is pretty. I am excited for the show to start soon. Maybe two more episodes of buildup and then we can get something going.

Based. All franchise directors should be like this. "Fans" are moronic and have no idea what's good content.
Objectively correct. Let the director write a story and let the prop department make it Star Wars.
That's exactly what destroyed every disney wars movie so far and all of them and their tv spin-offs going forward.

Yes but Luke (who is literally me) isn't portrayed as a heroic supergod therefore Rian must hate me. HE THREW AWAY A LIGHTSABER!!!!!
>I don't think it comes from a place of distaste
Turns the hero of the saga in to a coward, child murdering, weak homosexual who gets beaten down by a girl who found out the force was real last week.

Oh no.

>NOOOO WHERE ARE MY FORCED POPCORN ACTION SCENES AND CAMEOS OF CHARACTERS I CAN CLAP AT?? IT’S BORING!!!
this reaction is why disney shits out constant garbage
if you didn't drop nu wars after tfa you never cared about star wars to begin with.
Wrong!
You didn’t watch it.
>You didn’t watch it.
I wish I didn't.
>best content since not a steaming pile of shit, but at best a 6/10
Wow what a revelation
Capeshit fans got filtered by actual writing and acting
People who enjoy actual writing and acting aren't subscribed to Disney+ and don't watch Star Wars.
So we're just going to forget about the mountain of shit that came before this and pretend it didn't drive people off from Star Wars?
>So we're just going to forget about the mountain of shit that came before this
yea lol its that easy
have a nice day
if I did I couldn't watch Andor on Disney+. Kids, get your parents permission before logging in to the world wide web and navigating to Disney+
pretty much what happened to me. saw the trailer and heard gilroy was attached to it and gave it a chance. dont regret it at all.
I hope a Black person kills your mother and you get cancer
SW content was always 90% shit.

There's never been a necessary prequel.

Nothing. It’s been Star Kino so far, but it probably filtered half of Cinemaphile
Snail paced plot
Not even Vince is this self-indulgent
Nothing, it's high qual. Not enough stormtroopers for you?
>Not enough stormtroopers for you?
Is this supposed to be a good thing?
Why even make it Star Wars?
Cynical marketers pushing member-berries are driven by takes like this. Star Wars can be a lot more than rebels vs stormtroopers. It can be a slow-burn clandestine intrigue drama for adults that grounds you in its world so you can take it seriously.

no one knows, because no one fricking watched it.
I like it.
I hate that I like it so much. I didn't even like Rogue One. I do know it helps that I just watched the Boba Fett and Kenobi shows and both of those are so fricking empty and boring.
>I hated the rest of disney wars but you have to watch this fellow goy, this one is great.
Frick off shill
I like Mandalorian and I liked Solo. I also typically like the cartoon stuff for what it is aside from that Resistance one.
If you like disney wars you should have a nice day
Make me.
I'm sure the vaccine will take care of you.
Actually that was you.
I didn't take that shit and haven't been sick at all since before this so called pandemic
Huh what you mean?
I mean I didn't take the ~~*vaccine*~~and haven't been caught covid or been ill jn any way since the government decided he were in a global pandemic.
It's slow burn approach is probably gonna gatekeep a lot of Disney plus subscribers to even watch this. It also doesn't help that Mando although having an overall story arc was also episodic for the most part. This just feels like a 3 hour film chopped up into episodes.
dead franchise
Andor is probably better than it should be but after shit like Obi Wan and Boba Fett it's just another nail in the coffin for nuWars.
tfa ruining star wars wasn't enough for you? mouse apologists deserve the rope.
Just ignore anything sequel related, Disney's doing that.
>ignore anything sequel related

Anon have you considered finding God to fill that void instead of a 50 year old Flash Gorden rip off?
>it was just a ripoff, goy
kys rat
Have you considered not shilling for a hollow, made by corporate committee product with a 50 year old flash gordon rip-off veneer?
Not really, my boss said if I really put in work he'll let me hear the audio tape of Walt naming the israelite in '46.
Star Wars should've ended in 1983.

Space AK47's. Jesus fricking christ, you couldn't even slap some futuristic looking scope on it or something
>Space Sykes-Fairburn knife. Jesus fricking Christ you couldn't even slap some crystals on it?
...I kind of like it so far. And I've hated all the Star Wars shit they've vomited out since Empire.

geez shills get a new tactic
Not "good". But it's interesting which is far more than can be said for the other dreck. It also doesn't have stupendously awful writing where every ten minutes something implausible happens because the writers are too stupid to conceive of a rational plot.

and yet you're still here defending it waiting for the next thing the mouse shits out.
Good implies I've a fixed opinion on it, which I don't. It's a slow burn, and as a slow burn it's actually working in keeping me interested.
the fact you're watching it at all means that you're worthless human garbage.
The fact that you're in this thread whining like a child means you a actually worthless.

I watched andor. I like that it is pretty. I am excited for the show to start soon. Maybe two more episodes of buildup and then we can get something going.
it going to be over showd by the Tales of the Jedi which come out oct. 26
