definitely money laundering. I'd say the actual budget is most likely 20-30 million considering all the animation is done in indian and korean sweatshops.

      Development started in 2016
Pixar have something like a thousand employees
I don't know how well they're paid, but lets say 3000 bucks a month as a mean
That's 200M of salaries for 6 years of work
Not everyone worked on it for 6 years, but utilities cost a lot too

How does any animated movie cost even remotely close to that amount of money? All you do is sit around and animate stuff on computers.

        Anonymous

Companies making 3D animation generally spend money on R&D on the side when making the movies. Also it costs money to have the animators sit at the computers for 8 hours per day.

To be fair they pulled out all stops and actually tried to make a Masterpiece with Prince of Egypt the future of the studio depended on it. Boss Baby is just a product.

they wanted to overshadow the Disney Renaissance with PoE. It didn't work (made less money than Hercules) so they didn't put the same effort with the next 2D films, which had worse animation and writing

        ADJUSTING FOR INFLATION:
Prince of Egypt made $181.1 Million at the US Box Office
The Boss Baby made $208.6 Million at the US Box Office

You've been trolled, meme'd, gif'd and, dareisay, pwned.

Yes, but Boss Baby was definitely more popular in 2017 adjusted for world population size than Prince of Egypt was in 1998.
YouTube for one thing was full of Boss Baby crap.

Inflation is the lesser evil now, you have to take into account the different culture. People 20 years ago went to the movies to watch the movies, now people go to the movies to vomit memes, reviews, reactions and twitter posts about them.

Dreamworks only made 2D films in their early years. The computer generated films like Antz and Shrek were made by Pacific Data Images, which Dreamworks owned
eventually, they chose to abandon 2D and start making CG films in-house. Shark Tale was the first one
