Same here, haven't had cable tv in 15 years and used Usenet before and torrents now.

i did get netflix in the early days. as in the DVD by mail days as $8 a month for unlimited DVDs 2 at a time AND unlimited streaming of a gigantic library (back before the rights holders decided to be the ~~**~~ they are and claw back all their IPs into their own seperate services). Dropped it when they split off the DVD service into Quickster and wanted me to pay separately for it, with some titles not being available on streaming and some not available on DVD.

Simply because $8 was easier than needing to wait for torrents to download/eat up all my hard drvie space and/or deal with "you have watched 72 minutes of megavideo please wait 30 minutes". when the price effectively doubled i was like welp back to pirating, and by then pirate options had improved as well with stites like 123movies etc.

This money is basically nothing at all if you earn a first world income. It’s like the cost of a cuppa. Plus I like being laid so there’s that. Only incels don’t have a single streaming sub. Girls just want tv to be easy and brain dead. A Netflix subscription is worthwhile for the amount of blowjobs and sex it gets me.

I sub to one service for 2 or 3 months then I cancel. I always use the cheapest option (ublock blocks ads if they have them). I download content I can't get access to through a streaming service.

    >Why are you still paying for this nonsense?
Because they have content I want to watch. And there is no hassle signing up and later cancelling (unlike cable and satellite).

      >gets 16ish channels for the one time payment of 12 bucks
I got a bigger antenna for 50 bucks just to get all the channels in my area to replace an existing shitty antenna in the attic and while it did a great job getting me all the channels according to my area's channel site info, I never really cared about using it. 50 bucks down the drain. Well...not entirely down the drain. I guess its a backup for when there's a storm or something but yeah, wasn't useful to me. Antennas are fine but overrated. The internet will always be miles better than local OTA.

I'm more of a physical Media man myself but the antenna is great when you don't know what to watch

          >the antenna is great when you don't know what to watch
Not really because I hate channel surfing and there's nothing to watch on OTA except events like sports and gay events like the oscars.

They sold that to zoomer simps who believe that if they ever have a female inter their parents basement that they will need to shitflix as a lubricant

Nah it's just bullshit that sprouted from the fact that women love netflix and will literally say "let's Netflix something".

Digital broadcast tv has perfect picture quality, FAR better then anything cable tv ever provided but there's nothing on broadcast tv worth watching, except the occasional football game (and even that's getting taken over by Amazon).

    Pirated everything in highschool.

Then they made streaming so cheap and easy I stoped pirating completely out of laziness.

One of Netflix's price hikes a few years ago snapped me out of it and I'm back to pirating everything.

Fiber line $80/month + VPN $60 per year + a synology nas running 32 tb in raid 10 (14.5 ish tb usable?) for a like a grand i guess? + Plex. Im probably not saving money, but i have that box jacked to the breasts with pinky violence, every 80's/90's cartoon, thousands of movies, anything I want, forever. Any show or movie I want, even if the cultural arbiters have decided it isnt appropriate anymore. Ive been watching blake's 7 and the thunderbirds tv show over the last few days. Not bad.

How? Why? Even in my shithole Western European country I get monthly 5gb of 5g data (and unlimited free, slightly slower internet if it runs out) plus more free minutes and texts than I know what to do with because everyone uses whatsapp.
