        nah

James Hetfield stripped one, carved it up, and put EMGs in it.
He also has multiple ‘59 bursts that he carved stuff in.

Jesus, that looks like shit. Prefer Jimmy's slightly modified version, though I think his Gibson would've looked better with the metal plate on the humbuckers, still better than what ever that abomination James is holding. Emg pickups? What is he 16?

            >Emg pickups? What is he 16?
EMGs have a ton of advantages for artists who play massive venues that don't apply to "normal" guitarists. It's not a coincidence that artists like Metallica, Pink Floyd, Toto, etc. gravitate towards them while they're not that well liked among general audiences.

              >EMGs have a ton of advantages for artists who play massive venues
Entirely false and moronic post, EMGs offer higher output with far less noise than traditional humbuckers, at the expense of dynamic range.

I need to stop buying guitars, I’ve got 20. There’s a few that have gone up in value that I don’t mind getting rid of, but I’m afraid I just want to trade them in for different guitars.

      Anonymous

You need one guitar. two is fine, but one is all you need. Once you have five, you care more about the gear than playing. How you managed to get 20 is beyond me.

        Anonymous

Different tunings, different pickup configurations, electric, acoustic, 12 string, double neck, bass etc.
I’m not a collector, actually, and try to have as little gear as possible. It’s just that for live and recording it’s convenient to have multiple options.

        Anonymous

nah. if you're trying to be minimalistic you need at least 2 acoustics, and like 5 electric. why? different tunings and pickups. people who say you only need 1 do not play guitar and shouldn't spput their irrelevant opinion.

          Anonymous

i've got 4 electric - 2 7 strings, 2 6 strings, and 1 acoustic. one of my 7 strings has peak moron tuning, the other is normal.

            Anonymous

i have 4 accoustics and that's because i have one in every room which is extremely useful. you can just pick up and play wherever you are. especially when ideas come to you. before i did that i never picked up the guitar because i didn't want to go get it from my room. now i play everyday.

              thats moronic
what is an acoustic? like 4lbs max?

                Anonymous

and how often do you play your electric? can you just pick one up wherever you're at and play immediately? no. unless you're a poorgay that lives in one room. you're acting like it's moronic but people rarely play their electric because they're too lazy to set it up. i highly doubt you're hauling your amp around the house everyday, not just that but more than ONCE in that same day. every musician does this as well, have you not been to a musicians house? even celebs have their shit setup like that. instruments in every major room.

            Anonymous

The only reason you'd want more than one electric is if you're trying to cover a bunch of different tunings.

Other than that any guitar with a single humbucker is more than enough to play literally anything under the sun. Anyone that disagrees is probably to caught up in collecting gear and wasting money rather than actually playing the instrument.

Thinking about doing this. Been going mad for a Firebird ever since I've seen Clapton with one, but no way in hell am I paying $6000 for one. Might grab an Epiphone version and see if I can find similar Gibson pickups to toss in them

Why does the body of an electric guitar matter? It doesn't resonate, does it?

The body definitely resonates. Just put your hand against it and strum with the other. If you put the guitar against your desk, the desk will resonate too.
Solid bodies avoid feedback, not resonance.

none of that matters. what matters is the year they were made because it shows who made it. aka japanese made and some korean shit above everything. only thing that comes close is vintage shit made in usa from 50s-60s instruments. a lot of those companies you listed make new models made in japan as of late too. best to get one asap before made in japan gets watered down.
