In The Realm of Senses has a lot of explicit sex but it is pure cinema and a masterpiece.

There’s a lot grey area. Plenty of pornos have a lot of story and other movie elements, especially the old ones, and plenty of movies have a lot of porn style sex. I guess marketing is really what it comes down to, but also keep in mind that a lot of stuff pre digital age were just porno movies, which were obviously both. A longer film with a lot of unsimulated sex and an albeit flimsy plot that would play in a theater or sold on VHS tapes and DVDs. I think just because the porno film is pretty much dead and most of the big porn now is 5 minutes of “story” and then 20-40 of sex doesn’t mean we can’t call the more lurid, exploitative and porn esque movies like picrel porno films and just say they’re both even if they exist long after the porno film golden age.

Also I don’t think that just because you could get away with calling something a porno film doesn’t mean it’s automatic trash, in the realm of the senses was already mentioned and that’s a great example. I also find there’s some cinematic merit in some of the old porno films, generally not a lot, but sometimes it is there. Of course that’s not even mentioning exploitation films that aren’t hardcore enough to be called porn they were pumping out all over in the 60s and 70s, those stand as a mostly valid form of movie despite their overt sexual imagery and other porn like qualities.

There are so many "softcore" films from the 70s where they're clearly having real sex and they have to shift the camera awkwardly to avoid showing it.
I remember reading a user review for one where the guy was complaining about how fake the sex was and that it didn't do anything for him. I checked out the film and there was a clear wide shot of the guy balls deep in the woman (they were having sex in a field). It's the sort of shot that you wouldn't be able to tell from a crappy vhs on a crt screen. But in digital high definition it was pretty clear.

Yeah I guess when I say unsimulated I mean on screen filmed penetration or fellatio

    > In Slaughtered Vomit Dolls, ReGOREgitated Sacrifice and this film, emetophilia is the main theme. Many characters vomit and desecrate corpses for sexual pleasure, including blood. Very shocking.
    > almost constant nudity involving graphic closeups of different womens veganas. masturbation in volving a crucifix. scenes involving urination including drinking of urine. A scene of unsimulated urination including the drinking of said urine.
    > a woman has a funnel attached to her mouth with tape by another woman, then the other woman vomits blood into the funnel to make the other woman choke on the vomit, which makes her vomit as well. this is unsimulated and extremely explicit.
    >
This is probably the most disturbing movie ever made. A man cuts open a pregnant woman's stomach, ripping out the fetus and doing the following to it: Spitting on it, Raping it, Vomiting on it repeatedly, Slapping it with its mothers intestines, Putting it in a blender and grinding it up, Drinking the 'fetus smoothie', Vomiting it back into the blender and drinking his vomit again.

How could anyone take that seriously? After a certain point, it stops being disturbing and starts being comedy.

yes. i haven't seen this trash but id sooner call it extreme vomit fetish porn than id call it a movie.

      It's a fine line.

If you are a true horror fan, you wouldn't watch mainstream trash like Friday the 13th or Saw, you would watch real fricking horror movies, Extreme horror. Extreme horror is movies like August Underground, Serbian Film, Guinea Pig, and Salo. These horror films are for hardcore horror fans, not normalgays or w*men. People often dismiss these films as just "torture porn shlock", but they are true horror films, to quote Fred Vogel (director of August Underground), "these films are true art". They are like what would happen if the joker directed movies. They are masterpieces. Stop watching gay ass mainstream israelite shit, and watch actual kino horror. Also, when you watch them, make sure you don't watch normalgay extreme horror like Martyrs or Henry, that shit is gay. True extreme horror is like August Underground or Serbian Film. I imagine this post will piss normalgay horror fans off.

Intent, would be my guess. A porn film is first and foremost designed with the idea that the viewer is buying it for sexual pleasure. A film is typically not done in such a way, though it may entice viewers by using sex or nudity in advertising, it's not usually the creator's intent to just get the viewer off.

    functional narrative
take sex scenes out of porn they have none
take out explicit sex scenes and replace it with dialogue of say irreversible, KIDS, eyes wide shut they still function, nymphomaniac, sort of, its just a boring shitty movie? even eyes wide shuts NC-17 edit is virtually identical to the theatrical, everyone misremembers the unrated version of american pie as the theatrical, the ~~*MPAA*~~ needs to go frick itself, that martin lawrence movie with NC17 is basically because of some karen going "AWWWWW A Black person CURSING IM LOSING MY MIND!!!!"

Unsimulated sex (and by sex, I mean physical contact with either the penis or vegana by the other person for the sake of arousal).
But it is tricky. If there's a 5 second scene of a woman fondling a guy's dick underneath his pants, does that make a 3 hour film a porno? If there's a porno playing on a tv in the film, does that make the entire film a porno?
I think getting bogged down with definitions is missing the point. It's alright for people to disagree as to what classes as a porno. Some will say that 50 Shades of Grey is, while others will say that Pirates 2: Stagnetti's Revenge isn't.
Just watch what you want to watch man

what if it's violence and gore and abuse thats intended to be arousing? we all know theres porn and fetishes that are just filthy and almost has nothing to do with sex except the people being naked.

Like I say, everyone has their own definition.
One could be a degenerate foot fetishist. That wouldn't make Tarantino's films porn just because some people see it that way.
Or it doesn't to me. Maybe it does to you.

well having a scene of some fetish thing doesn't invalidate the entire movie. but if nearly all the movie is that? then what else is there?

feet isnt exactly an inherent sex act
to be foot "porn" it'd need to be a movie where its only inherent purpose are constant uninterrupted shots of margaret qualleys unwashed feet for 90 mins

Either the narrative or visual presentation.
Porn, because of it's intent as first and foremost jerk off material, doesn't have artistic intent in it's narrative or form. Basically they just point a camera and shoot things without thinking about style, composition beyond "how do we show sex in the most detailed way".

porn has plenty context, even gonzo, the context of being pornography, and pornography is art in the epistemological sense a work appreciated on its merit of inspiring an emotions, just not protected as such
