The bike and the city are the coolest shit in the movie
Have you considered that for people old enough to actually see the references when they came out it gets really stale. If you have nobody on staff who can come up with anything cool ( how it is in the American industry) then hire people who can animate cool things instead of regurgitating the same damn shit from decades ago
Plagiarism isn't cool.
The wilhelm scream sucks.
Make something new. Something people would want to copy.

Here's a bigger compilation:
steven universe by far
you can see it's mostly about shrinking the person with no other changes.
It's drawing one pose and reusing it for multiple frames.
It's almost as cheap as animating someone talking about an action scene.
Do Akira fans know to do only one reference or what?
They might have not actually seen the entire thing. Animators don't necessarily watch animation.
TMNT2012 and Marvel's Spider-Man are the worst ones but the Steven Universe one is the most cringe. The fungies one was surprisingly tasteful. Also you can notice they start to become consistently more cringe after Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
>Jordan Peele
I don’t even hate that his movies are shit and he get’s shilled as some kind of quasi-Lovecraft auteur by the industry, I hate that he broke into the scene with Key and Peele despite all the bits being race-related (which got tired very quickly, even the good ones) and Key having to carry ever episode because Peele couldn’t be funny if his life depended on it
nah Key and Peele was pretty good, definitely better sketch comedy than SNL. You're just a homosexual and hater, and also a whitetoid with a squeaky voice.
Key & Peele was mediocre, even by sketch comedy standards, which are EXTREMELY hit-or-miss.
Even for black sketch comedy shows, Chappelle's Show takes a shit all over most of Key & Peele.
Dumbfrick I'm black, Chappelle's Show is just funnier than Key & Peele, get over it.

You're allowed to have bad opinions, nothing's stopping you.
>I'm black
That doesn't make your opinion better.
But it does take the wind out of your moronic "you only like Chappelle's Show becuz ur RACIST!" sails.

How do both of them stack up against Fry and Laurie, in your opinions?

I know next to nothing about British sketch comedy outside of obvious stuff like Monty Python and Mr. Bean.
Why are defending Key and Peele of all shows? Besides I praised Key because he was the only one of the pair with any comedic talent doing his best with weak material, you can’t blindly use the “hater” dismissal just because I didn’t care for the show. Also >definitely better sketch comedy than SNL
That’s not a compliment or even much of a statement since SNL is not a comedy show by any real measure (i.e being humorous/clever/watchable)
You just need a bike, scooter, trike, or similar to do the slide. Those are common in most settings. You can't really establish a fricking space cannon without major plot implications elsewhere.
If I ever make my own cartoon movie I'm having a mook do that and the main character shooting at him screaming how stale the Akira bike slide has become.
I'll make sure to laugh and cheer because I understood the reference
EPIC REFERENCE!
we're about 2 weeks away from theaters full of basedguzzling redditors cheering and clapping like seals because the akira bikeslide is the new movie from the twisted mind of jordan peele
I'll make sure to laugh and cheer because I understood the reference
EPIC REFERENCE!
What would make 4chincels clap and holler in the movie theater? probably >israeli lawyer eaten by a T-Rex >Black supporting character dies >Hilter revived
Sorry anon Cinemaphile has very low standards when it comes to animation, we'll take what we can get.
I meant in the sense that it's consistent with the animation of the rest of the show, the timing is right and there isn't any weird rotoscoping that makes the bike slide that much jarring unlike other examples.
frick the whiny hipsters, the akira slide looks cool and should be in everything

interesting, thanks anon, i havent thought about it that way

The marceline one is really stretching it. She's not even on a bike

>>not the town bicycle of ooo

And only NOW are weebs complaining about it?
I really wasn't expecting Doraemon to do it too.
God I want to frick Officer Jenny
The Clone Wars is pretty cool
The Bart one is even cooler than the original
huh?
has any live action movie ever done a "homage" to the slide?
Cloud Atlas
Of fricking course.
Ready Player One had the bike do the slide, but not with the correct camera angle.
That Marceline one looks really fricking awkward.
it's in the Nope movie by Jordan Peele

made me cringe quite a bit ngl

that's a nice toe-high bar you got there.

Chappelle Show is bottom of the barrel racist humor. I guess it's cool Chappelle and his writers pandered so hard to you.

nah you're wrong.
Why are there so many
There are other fricking scenes in that movie
Why is it always the goddamn bike?
The bike and the city are the coolest shit in the movie
Horseshit
It's not even the coolest part on the scene it was in
>not the fricking satellite cannon
Not every setting can explain an orbital laser
Yeah see
You just need a bike, scooter, trike, or similar to do the slide. Those are common in most settings. You can't really establish a fricking space cannon without major plot implications elsewhere.

EPIC REFERENCE!
yeah but it's exactly to point that it's stale, like the mook won't even finish the slide.
we're about 2 weeks away from theaters full of basedguzzling redditors cheering and clapping like seals because the akira bikeslide is the new movie from the twisted mind of jordan peele

I don't remember that bit in Jurassic Park
>dude making references to say that making references is lame is so clever
Are you Larry err Lana Wachowski?
No I just want to kill the Akira slide the same way normies say "No capes!" thanks to the Incredibles.
Those aren't normies, they're manchildren who think they're being cool adulescents. You can't kill icons.
>kill icons
Anon, ever since Steven Universe did it so poorly and now Jordan Peele, this thing became the embodiment of cringe, let it die.
Either way capes are cool and frick homosexuals that didn't understand that The Incredibles was joking.
steven universe by far
Ugh, that was kinda bad
It's basically the animation equivalent to "The Lick."
This is the most awkward use of the Akira slide I've ever seen: https://youtu.be/Lp8KLKZjcAs?t=168
Whenever I see this show it's like watching a cartoon that's been put through a food processor.
It just looks like mush.
At least they bothered to animate it well so I'm not too bothered about this one.
I'm gonna be honest, it really looks like they just CTRL+T'd one frame and made it smaller. The fact that it was hand drawn actually bothers me.
>At least they bothered to animate it well
Yo homie what?
Sorry anon Cinemaphile has very low standards when it comes to animation, we'll take what we can get.
I meant in the sense that it's consistent with the animation of the rest of the show, the timing is right and there isn't any weird rotoscoping that makes the bike slide that much jarring unlike other examples.
>I meant in the sense that it's consistent with the animation of the rest of the show,
Which is, as expected, mediocre.
>the timing is right
The way it was timed (evenly on 2s, all of it) certainly didn't help by how stiff it all looks.
it's them looking so serious and janky what makes this one so cringe
I just like references
it's funny because Tatsunoko helped animate Evangelion.
Thats nort how physics work, xhe would of high sided and had the bike thrown over top of xim.
Out of the montage I've seen, I'd say the adventure time one was one of the worst.
Do Akira fans know to do only one reference or what?
Remember when South Park had Cartman do a Tetsuo? Good times.
