      The best Disney Star Wars

This it’s beautifully shot but kind of a shallow dumb movie that’s fine for Star Wars though Star Wars is more about look and feel than anything

Yet somehow it's the best SW movie made by Disney, which tells you a fricking lot about Disney Wars

This was one of the few times a movie has surprised me. It's Disney, and he was the comic relief. Up until that point I thought they would all survive and live happily ever after. When K2SO starts smoking I was like "o fug, they're doing this huh".

Honestly, it was pretty ballsy to kill off ALL of the main characters in the movie. I mean, this is Disney we're talking about here. But it really sells the urgency of the situation.

Only good part is Scarif and the accompanying space battle. First 50 or so minutes are awful, we have a one off cast and they keep wasting time with meaningless bullshit. Had no idea who Forest Whitaker's wheezing moron was supposed to be besides a bin Laden knockoff.

      robot
K2SO was the best character on the team. Or really the only one who was an actual character.
      monk
agree, what the frick was the point of a blind not-Jedi with a wooden stick besides dragging big minigun dude alongside with him

the monk is the post important character in the movie on a meta view since he reveals to the public that plot armor is canon

Decent as a star wars backstory movie but spread too thin on literal who characters
Would've actually been good (and considerable for OT canon even) if they focused on the girl, the guy, and the robot

      >Spread too thin on literal who characters
      Yes
The two asian characters were only there for the Chinese market
could've been completely edited out and the movie would be better for it

I enjoyed it, it looks really pretty and it had the most respect to the material of any disney shows so far. But it's not canon. It's the gayest thing ever that disney keeps contriving every little thing into some gigantic epic battle that they barely pull off and leads directly into the next film. Nothing can be small, relatively boring, or nuanced. There was no epic battle to get the death star plans and no traitor specifically designed a flaw into it. It was just spies who smuggled the plans out and the rebel technicians analyzed them and found an avenue of attack. The exhaust port was the only idea they could come up with and it was extremely slim. The rebels all would have died if they didn't miraculously have a force user who clinched the shot at the absolute last second.

      >The rebels all would have died if they didn't miraculously have a force user who clinched the shot at the absolute last second.
The rebels would have won without a force user if the exhaust port wasn't guarded by an enemy force user pilot ace

Based. I unironically like all of the prequels, but my favourite prequel is The Phantom Menace. And yes, the podracing scene is kino as frick. The sound effects during the podracing scene were a total eargasm. However, my most favourite scene in The Phantom Menace was when Anakin arrived on Coruscant. Seeing that shit in 1999 when I was just 11 absolutely blew my fricking mind and the scene still looks visually stunning even today, in my opinion. As a kid, I wanted to live on Coruscant and Naboo and I still do.

To this day, it's the only tolerable piece of Star Wars media released under Disney's watch other than Star Wars: Visions.

I unironically still like Phantom Menace, the uncanny valley 2000s cgi is at a minimum outside jar jar scenes, podracing scene is absurdly kino, and is miles better than episodes II and III, and it happened to come out in 1999

It was pretty good minus the CGI characters like the Admiral and de-aging Leia. Way better than Han Soi movie, Obi Wan series and the horrible Last israelitedi trilogy put together but not as good as Mando S1

It was a decent popcorn flick. Practically Citizen Cain for a Disney Star Wars film. I'm shocked they had a diverse cast without hamfisted SJW messaging. It's pretty much required now.

I liked it. It felt fresh but still Star Wars. Kinda tired of all the Jedi focused stuff, was never much a Jedi fan anyway, but the blind monk was cool.
Everyone had a distinctive personality and role, made it feel like a dungeons and dragons campaign in the SW universe.
The movie just proved my claims that SW has a lot of potential if you remove Jedi from its focus.
