Watched it last night. It was alright. Very style-over-substance being a Baz Luhrmann flick, but the style was engaging nonetheless. Good performances from the lead guy as Elvis (though his accent was a bit wonky) and Tom Hanks. It felt quite rushed trying to condense the story into 2.5 hours, the editing was very choppy, but still engaging and it didn't feel its length. Overall would recommend, 6.5/10
I'm very curious how the Zack Snyder version would have turned out. Very stylish which would have been perfect for him.
>And they add black rap shit in it because Luhrmann
Bullshit. Rap music played because he was hanging around jazz musicians and basically an Africaphile
Wouldn't it make more sense to have jazz and blues artists "taking it back?" Are the filmmakers suggesting rappers are the ambassadors for the entire race?
Very enjoyable movie but inconsistent as shit, pace is frenetic but also confusing at times, and the movie relies on straight up telling you when/where you are in each scene rather than trying to show it.
Also, the doja cat verse felt forced and out of place as frick. Luckily aside from that the other music used was decent, obviously not original recordings or even period-accurate but at the same time I feel like that’s part of the point Baz is making.
Solid 7/10 it’s fun to go along with Baz’s coke-fuelled elvis fantasy, but frick Tom Hanks’ dumb shitty accent too.
>actually Elvis is basically a Black person >also the only reason he became popular is because women wanted the "forbidden fruit" in other words BBC >sorry whyte boi
Why? Why do they keep doing this?
white people were fricking boring fuddy duddies until the 70s anon. I'm sorry it offended your sensibilities but it's true and black culture seemed way more lively and fun back then.
>uhhh its okay for white women to want to cheat on their husbands with black guys, they frick better
Like i mean i seriously cant believe im reading this shit here
No, you're just a dipshit foreigner who knows the laws of the homosexual loving coastal states that shart their propaganda into your eyes on a daily basis.
The scene where she’s begging him to to go to bed wearing a baby doll dress was incredible. I will make many webms of her when I get an hd copy of the movie.
>tfw ywn have a qt3.14 wife asking you to come back to bed >tfw you are a 27 yr old kissless/handholdless virgin >tfw you can count on one hand the number of girls you have interacted with within a social context
WHHHHHAAAAT THE FRICK AM I DOING IN THIS ABSOLUTE SHITHOLE, STARTED BACK IN 2012, ITS 2022, FRICKING 4CHINZ
It was frickin kino. Austin Butler did a fantastic job. I know other comments mentioned the pacing and editing but the story still held pretty well. It had to be for a wild coke and sex-filled fantasy. The last act was top notch. The Christmas special was kino. Plus, the movie had a lot of qt’s. Actress who played Pricilla very qt.
I thought it was an interesting narrative idea to have the story told by the colonel, the villain, but also have him desperately try to justify his own actions but clearly see them shown as seflish and cruel.
Its a movie about him as much as it is Elvis but done well enough that it doesnt drown Elvis' story out. Its well balanced.
Well said. I feel it too, even the side characters get their respected perspectives. Elvis’ family is just as important as he is. The acting really was top tier. With this and Top Gun, I really missed that old Hollywood feel.
They should have played more along the accusation of the colonel that the fans/his love for them killed him. Would have made for a better/more ambiguous villain.
heard it was kino

How much of the soundtrack is actually Elvis songs?
Nta but they barely have Elvis songs in it. And they add black rap shit in it because Luhrmann
Pretty accurate
Barely focused on young Elvis unfortunately but the late Elvis stuff is really solid
I'm very curious how the Zack Snyder version would have turned out. Very stylish which would have been perfect for him.

Bullshit. Rap music played because he was hanging around jazz musicians and basically an Africaphile
>hanging around jazz musicians
What the hell does that have to do with rap?
>they barely have Elvis songs in it
Are you serious or just exaggerating? I won’t watch if they downplay his music in favor of sheboon rap shit
There’s lots of elvis songs in it but also modern interpretations which are mostly okay
Also a meta commentary on elvis appropriating the music originally and the rappers on the soundtrack taking it back
Wouldn't it make more sense to have jazz and blues artists "taking it back?" Are the filmmakers suggesting rappers are the ambassadors for the entire race?
This sounds fricking abysmal. Black folk are taking credit for rock and roll now?
>barely have Elvis songs
Who's the target audience? Old boomer ladies aren't gonna like this.
do you not know the director? look at this other movies and he did the same shit there too.
Was it historically accurate? Did they do any "jewy" trickery?
>Very style-over-substance
well shit now I have to see it
>Very style-over-substance
yep its a baz luhrmann flick.
Man can't make a movie to save himself without it being an over-indulgent piece of sparkly shit.
Great Gatsby was the most sickening experience watching a film in my life.
> an over-indulgent piece of sparkly shit
despite this being true, I cant help but love Moulin Rouge.
>despite this being true, I cant help but love Moulin Rouge.
I feel the same way about Romeo + Juliet despite my hatred for Luhrmann, I love that film and think everything else is trash.
Didn't see it and I don't want to.
the costner elvis convention vegas crime movie was better
3000 miles to Graceland is good
First turn acts were absolutely shit, third act was absolutely kino.
After he gets out of the army is when it gets good
is there a scene where he shits himself to death on the toilet?
i wont watch it otherwise
baz makes mediocre movies and nobody in australia likes the c**t
Bullshit.
We frickin luv Baz. He's the kind of mate who isn't here to frick spiders.
Baz fricking delivers. He doesn't always bring what you want but he fricking delivers.

Honestly insanely good performance from Butler, cannot believe he did all the singing too like that’s some old Hollywood shit
agreed
Do they show him dying on the toilet or does it cut to black once he walks into his house and then the credits roll?
>actually Elvis is basically a Black person
>also the only reason he became popular is because women wanted the "forbidden fruit" in other words BBC
>sorry whyte boi

>you dont want a black man to frick your wife? You must be schizo
Jesus christ Shalomberg could you be more obvious?
schizo
Jew
stay mad beta b***h
was Captain Marvel referenced Not just Shazam?
would elvis get away with kissing his fans in today's world?
Probably. He was regarded by the women back then as a sex icon god. Females literally committed suicide after his death
People are refusing to watch the film because Priscilla was "only 16" when Elvis met her. You tell me.
I will hold fast to the belief that Elvis never had sex with her until it was legal.
16 is legal in 31 US States you dumb Black person
I'm not a mutt so I don't know your gaybo laws
No, you're just a dipshit foreigner who knows the laws of the homosexual loving coastal states that shart their propaganda into your eyes on a daily basis.
Granger Smith, kinda like the modern Elvis, did it at a concert I saw him at. It was cool.
I am not sure I'm going to see it but the trailer is one of the most kino trailers I've seen in a long time
elvis having his own orchestra is pretty damn based.
It was kino.
>all those cuts between his crotch and women screaming in the first act
BRAVO BAZ
checked IMDB and Marty, Lamar, and Joe Esposito are not in the movie at all. That doesnt make any sense.
whomstever played priscilla presley was an absolute qt3.14
The scene where she’s begging him to to go to bed wearing a baby doll dress was incredible. I will make many webms of her when I get an hd copy of the movie.

kino taste. I loved her look when they introduce her with Elvis in the army. Goddamn.
