Yep. In 1994, at aWorld Fantasy Convention, GRRM spent a couple hours picking my wife’s brain on how she managed to write big fantasy series. She told him that the most important part was to completely outline the series, whether it was two books or nine. He obviously didn’t take her advice. Since I didn’t buy an add, I won’t say who my wife is. She is also a Pediatrician, so anons who want to know should be able to figure it.

The only female modern fantasy writer I know is Margaret Weis, so I'm going to guess it's her.

My best guess is 2026 or 2027

    >During an appearance on the October 25, 2022, episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Martin said that approximately three quarters of The Winds of Winter had been written.[1][2] In an appearance on Stephen Colbert's Tooning Out the News later that year, Martin said that he had written approximately 1,100 to 1,200 pages of the book and that roughly 400–500 pages remained to be written.[3] In July 2023, Martin said that he was working on the novel "almost every day".[90][91] In November 2023, Martin indicated that the number of pages he had written was the same as the year before, stating that he was "struggling with it".[4][5]

      >I think he will release AWOW within the next 4 years,
As long as WOW comes out, I can point to it and say "this proves seasons 5-8 of GOT bullshit D&D made up". I don't even care if Dreams comes out at this point, I want D&D to suffer.

        >D&D to suffer
It depends on 3 Body Problem's success
If it gets cancelled on the first season they are fricked
From what I gathered (from people that read the books) they are rushing a bunch of stuff and making a convoluted mess
        I hope it's true

I know they spent like a huge insane amount on the budget for the first season that takes place in the modern era 1960s-21st century. and the books take place much later in the future, aka more budget.

These frickers keep adapting the books I'VE read. 3 body problem, I sort of see the appeal because the books have absolutely no characterisation, the characters are just empty vessels which a creative kino-creater can project ideas onto

HOWEVER GOT went to shit when they ran out of books to adapt. What are D&D gonna do with a bunch of characters written with zero personality? Are they capable of creating something you'd want to watch?

By the way I enjoyed the entire trilogy that starts with the 3 body problem, despite the characterisation issues, it's a cool and more realistic first contact story than you usually find... Despite going absolutely off the rails in the later books. It gets anime as frick too

I wonder what they're gonna do with it. I'm expecting massive changes to the story. This is the adaptation that will break D&D

Never, the tv series was really close to what he had actually planned, when it came out and everybody hated it, he got cold feet, and decided it was better incomplete.

After the Lord of the Rings sequel.

Serious answer, never. Many people accuse Martin of being a fat lazy sloth, but he is not, in the last 13 years, he has been writing a lot, both literature, screenwriting and other projects. He is however, not nearly as smart as most people credit him. It is not a surprise that the series peaked with A Storm of Swords, this book was engaging and complex enough for most people's taste, but after it came two books that aren't most people favorites. The books are getting more convoluted, yet at the same time, it is getting harder to interlink the different storylines. If it even comes out, I predict it will be a book that consist of killing 1/3 of named characters to simplify the story, and tied down the ending in book seven.
