When did you realize that the Red Lotus was absolutely right that the Avatar needs to be permanently destroyed for the sake of the people's freedom? Imagine having an all powerful person imbued with some unknown spirit decide how history should go instead of letting it flow organically. And of course that Avatar gets to decide what they consider to be "balanced" as if that should have any bearing in the course of history. The Avatar is also susceptible to be used by their own country for political gain with the proper influence. They also get to decide on their own in major events without the consent of the countries they can potentially frick up like letting a spirit portal open. You may not agree with the Red Lotus ultimate goal of dismantling the structures of society but they were absolutely right that the Avatar cycle needs to end.

The Avatar only has a much political power as the governments of the world invest in them. The Red Lotus essentially "made their own Avatar" in the form of Zaheer's crew, just instead of having one hyper-lethal person who can beat down any political actor it's four people working in unison. The Red Lotus would merely step into the place of the Avatar.

Also, why should the freedom of, say, the Fire Nation to conquer the world be placed above the right of, say, some dude from the Foggy Swamp tribe to not have to live under an imperialistic, genocidal society?

The Fire Nation and Foggy Swamp tribe have equal freedom to do that what they want. Its just a matter of the might to fulfill it. Just like in our world.

That's a dumb take. The proper take is that Avatar should just rule the world as a god emperor. Most nations treat them as such anyway.

Yep the Avatar is objectively better at ruling then anybody else do to hundreds of life times allowing a perfect understanding of the root cause of any issue and skill far beyond anybody else.

    >what if avatar... BUT DARK!
    >what if Iroh's secret crew... BUT EVIL!
why was Korra so creatively bankrupt?

That's not what the Red Lotus is but whatever

It kind of is. Red Lotus is White Lotus; order of preserving balance at all cost vs chaos of anarchy.

I was already complaining about the giant kaiju avatar. At least with a 4 element battle, I'd be praising the fight. Just handwave with Vaatu somehow managing to absorb some powers from the Avatar granting him the Lion turtles elemental bending.

Dark Avatar was boring as frick. If you're gonna have an evil Avatar then give them all the elements. The fight scene would at least be unique in that the Avatar is fighting against another bender that also has control over all elements.

God, fricking mood. I genuinely can't believe Bryke deliberately missed the one chance to have a 4 elements vs 4 elements fight

Then you'd just be complaining about how Unalaq magically got all 4 elements with no training.

Just explain that Unalaq did learn the martial arts before. Hell, actually set up the Red Lotus in season 2. He's a spiritual dude, it wouldn't be too big an asspull

Why would anyone follow the white Lotus plants

The fed Lotus has massive control over the world, not the avatar, they are the ones restricting freedom

Also, for humanity to achieve true freedom, the spirits must be destroyed, as they falsely represent aspects of life of which they aren't, only representations

    >When did you realize that the Red Lotus was absolutely right
The same moment I started to agree with
    > That son of a b***h brought the war to us. Count the dead, there's thousands of people. What's next, billions? He has the power to wipe out the entire human race and if we believe that there's even one percent thance that he is our enemy then we have to take it as an absolute certainty, and we have to destroy him.
    Which would be never.
