The entire point of what Disney is doing is to train a new audience that wants the movies Disney is making. They don't care about people who are alive today; they care about people who will buy their movies 20 years from now when they grow up and have no kids of their own.
This plan is doomed to fail.
Almost every memorable Disney movie was a hit right out of the gate.
A movie like this will be as memorable now as The Black Cauldron was in 2005. It'll have a small niche audience of counter culture types but most parents will still be showing their kids the same movies as before, only now Frozen and maybe Zootopia will join the roster.
I don't think anyone actually believes what he's saying
Besides, Disney under Iger was dropping so much fricking money on acquisitions under (what I'm assuming) was the assumption they'd make money later
If ALL of your schemes are long term profit models you either needs a shitload of venture capital money to keep you going or you need something else more immediate like the parks. You know, those things that got nuked during COVID and are even more expensive at a time where Americans lost over half their savings in a single year
This. Strange world doesn't appeal to sci-fi fans because the pulp stuff is treated as a joke and the story is written for kids. and it doesn't appeal to normal people because of the gay shit.
what shtick, making pulpy adventure movies? I like those. I know everyone prefers the musical/princess movies but I think a little diversity in genre is good, it should be welcomed even
Modern Disney is basically mushrooms sprouting on Walt Disney's corpse. There is no actual vision, just repeating and repeating Walt Disney's vision and getting worse and worse, and now they're doing the same thing with Marvel, they don't want actual creators and fans involved, just clueless people trying to put together superhero products.
We need new artists and new companies working outside of the mainstream albatross of Animation collapsing in slow motion.
You do know most film production companies/ distributors do test screenings throughout an entire films prodcution to determine if a film will be a success with general audience right?
The films they're making ARE what people want to watch sadly.
Test reviewers have an incentive to be positive or they won't be invited back. Otherwise every movie would be a massive success if they were really giving honest reviews
Cringe. The man children who work in today's animation hate criticism and police it in the animation community, they don't want to change based on feedback regardless of whether or not they receive it
I thought the entire point was to make things that modern audiences want

make timeless movies with a broad global appeal based on epic myths that had stakes, villains, memorable songs, etc..
Modern disney movies are just shit for coastal millennial women and it's why they keep bombing
would you consider Treasure Planet to be one of those timeless movies? I feel like Strange World is trying to be a spiritual successor to that
Treasure planet has some upper management sabotage. I think if it was advertised straight and not scummed sucker punched it would have done well.
>it's why they keep bombing
Do they?
Disney hasn't had an animated success since Wreck it Ralph 2 and even that was just an okay performance at best.

Eat shit Groomer
Don't talk to yourself while replying to me. How many times do I need to say it
That's like intentionally giving yourself a little brain damage.
Truth
Did you watched the movie?
With Iger coming back, never
Is he gay? He honestly reminds me of one of my old friends who was a smoldering homosexual (rather than a flaming one)
it's a modern disney movie so there's a 90% chance he's gay

if you're not a woman or gayots, disney doesn't care
THEY ARE BEING PAID BY BLACKROCK TO MAKE THESE MOVIES. WE MUST START THE TRANSHUMANIST AGENDA
