No one knows who JLD is. Sure, film fan communities might just because they might look into comics to get a more in depth understanding but normies don't.
wasn't DC always the subpar choice when put against Marvel? I think they're both terrible but the general consensus seemed to be that Marvel was the more popular one.
>wasn't DC always the subpar choice when put against Marvel?
The way I always saw DC is that it was the quality choice for cape films. Nolan's Batman, Joker, Keaton's Batman, Reeve's Superman, Smallville, Lois and Clark (90's), DCAU are examples of this. With Disney/Marvel it is the popular TV style popcorn movies. Fox/Sony Marvel had the quality as well. The Snyderverse was a continuation of the quality that has come before but was hampered by studio execs who wanted to chase Disney to the bank.
It completely slipped my mind that the Joker and the batman series is DC. I enjoyed those far more than any marvel film now that I think about it. But I never really got into the whole DC universe or marvel.
There was a time when DC was a lot more popular than Marvel. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League used to be far more well known and loved than any of Marvel's characters besides Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine. But when Iron Man got made into a movie, it changed everything. Suddenly he was on par with Batman in popularity and fame. At this point, Marvel is bigger than DC because the MCU eclipsed everything DC has been doing for the last 15 years or so.
>At this point, Marvel is bigger than DC because the MCU eclipsed everything DC has been doing for the last 15 years or so.
This. As I said WB needs to change strategy and have their DC universe be more like Star Trek TOS or TNG. Lower budget, excellent writing and stable show runners who know where to take their vision for their shows.
i was never a comic book guy, but when i was a kid in the 90s it seemed like DC had more cultural relevance. everybody knew Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Batman and Superman had cartoons I watched and liked. the only Marvel hero people really knew was Spiderman. there was some awareness of like Captain America and the Hulk but not on the level of Batman and Superman. the Raimi Spiderman movies unironically started the wave of Marvel supremacy IMO
DC is good when they aren't trying to mimic marvel. Every attempt at a marvel-esque universe has failed while their ventures into the realistic Batman franchises, their shows like Smallville, and their cartoons have all been top-tier.
Chances are it's a Third Worlder, worst case scenario it's a kid. Best case scenario it's an adult special person. Fourth case scenario it's someone with Autism. Fifth case scenario would be a troll.
in terms of movie franchises? Yeah, DC played second fiddle and was desperately trying to play catch up with marvel after iron man and avengers success
That new headline is still damning for WB. They need to realize that Gunn/Safran is not the savior they were hoping for. I'm okay with a full reboot but there needs to be a much longer break. At least 5 years. And no more DCEU/DCU. Just a director for one IP to complete their trilogy. That's for film. TV is where DC is best though. I would start with a Superman TV series and a Batman one separately. When there are bigger threats then you end the season with a cliffhanger and release a film. Then go back to a new season. Rinse and repeat. This is the formula that is desperately needed because we need to grow with these characters.
Partially the fault of literal fricking who super heros. Who gives a shit about jokers girlfriend and her autistic friends and fricking blue beatle? Why?
I think even Snyder once said making movies about the literal whos is just a waste of time. I think in hindsight he was right (he was mocked for that statement). All these literal who capeshit characters just over-exploited and saturated the genre.
Ya it was when he called Ant Man a '"flavor of the week" superhero and fanboys around the world cried and shit their pants. Now we have shit like Quantumania and see just how right he truly was.
Harley was a breakout character from the first Suicide Squad movie but it was mostly the design and the novelty of finally seeing that character realized
I think even Snyder once said making movies about the literal whos is just a waste of time. I think in hindsight he was right (he was mocked for that statement). All these literal who capeshit characters just over-exploited and saturated the genre.
movies yes but a TV show about these characters would work if they were good and not woke pandery garbage
The literal fricking who characters have more interesting story concepts and powers. WB just has no idea what to do with them and can't help but meddle and make the movies worse for it
The FGGT+ who keep pushing blue beetle for diversity’s sake actually believe he’ll replace Batman. Question is how many pallets of money will they set on fire before they figure out how fricking wrong they are?
>animated universe ended with Akokolips War >new animated movies mostly look like shit >movie universe has been in a nose dive for a decade and continues to crash in greater and greater spectacular fashion >nobody in the movie or animation division has any idea what they're doing or a cohesive, creative, long term vision >video games are in fricking shambles, Gotham Knights flopped and Suicide Squad is a game nobody asked for that gets clowned every time new footage is shown at a trade show
i don't know what state the comics are in, but their fans probably went back to the trade paperbacks, unironically started reading manga and watching anime instead, or picked up something Marvel adjacent.
i forgot about that new Superman show when i wrote this. i haven't watched it yet, but what i've seen looks like it has potential so i'll say that may be the exception to what i said about their animation division.
I was a huge DC fanboy, to the point that i had a website detailing all the different universes and continuity changes that the comics went through over the ages.
The New 52 completely killed my interest in the comics.
Unironically i became a huge Zack Snyder's DC movies fanboy because of that since i only had the movies left. The Justice League debacle finished that love affair.
>I was a huge DC fanboy, to the point that i had a website detailing all the different universes and continuity changes that the comics went through over the ages
That's very nerdy but at the same time very sincere. What's your hobby now anon?
>new animated movies mostly look like shit
The new animated movies are the only good thing DC/WB are putting out these days. It's a new animated universe they call the "Tomorrowverse" that began with Man of Tomorrow in 2020. There are still plenty of blunders with it, but the good parts are what remind you how it felt to be a superhero fan again
Maybe stop making batman and superman movies. They have a huge library of characters to pick from but keep reusing the same ones for decades. Shit gets stale real fast, especially with the current generation that wants new stuff not the same shit over and over.
>They have a huge library of characters to pick from but keep reusing the same ones for decades.
I have no interest in them if they don't get Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman right first.
Maybe make your movies fun? It doesn't need to be the joke a second that the Marvel movies evolved into but it also doesn't have to be these angst-ridden piles of shit DC is putting out now.
And if you simply must do another Batman/Superman movie, spend no more than 15 minutes on the origin part. Enough already.
>angst-ridden piles of shit DC is putting out now.
Yea black Adam, Shazam 2, blue beetle, suicide squad, ww84 and the flash were definitely that... You fricking moron. There hasn't been a dark angst ridden dceu movie in years dumbass
DC movies haven’t been “angst” in years. Every current DC movie (Blue Beetle, Shazam 2, Black Adam, Wonder Woman 84, The Flash, The Suicide Squad) have been Quippy MCU-knock-offs that bombed.
It is the “angst” movies like Joker and The Batman that actually made money.
Here's a thought, quit while you're behind. They needed to make this whole thing work over ten years ago, when superheroes films were still exciting to normie audiences, but they keep fricking it up, rebooting, fricking it up, rebooting. But it's too late, people are getting sick of superheroes, they had arguably the most famous comic book characters of all time and completely fumbled it at every step. Put this whole genre on the shelf and acknowledge that it failed for them.
>"That means offering consistency and not changing directions every time some critics and certain segments of fandom become blinded by nostalgia or throw tantrums when the story isn’t told the way they wanted it to be. That means decisiveness and letting filmmakers do more than simply adapt the familiar, but challenge what we think we want from these movies and what we think we know about these characters. The DCU has to do more than make fans believe a man can fly. It has to make them believe that this time, there’s a willingness to stay the course and see that flight to its destination. Only then will the DC film fans be found again."
You think that the argument of DC-fans prefer auteur films is true, and that a shared plotline should be put aside in favor of actually good storytelling.
>DC-fans prefer auteur films is true, and that a shared plotline should be put aside in favor of actually good storytelling.
This is what should happen but only for film. TV can have a shared universe.
>Put this whole genre on the shelf and acknowledge that it failed for them.
This. Bring back Smallville for the meantime.
That new headline is still damning for WB. They need to realize that Gunn/Safran is not the savior they were hoping for. I'm okay with a full reboot but there needs to be a much longer break. TV-anon i love your Idea. I think is very lovely and unique. Apart from the fact that Marvel is kinda already doing that.. and it's chrashing (their plane) their franchise. How would you make It better?
>Apart from the fact that Marvel is kinda already doing that.
They are but for the MCU they have reached their "series finale" with endgame. I don't understand why they are continuing the MCU at this point, it's all meaningless to me. >How would you make It better?
End the DCEU/DCU completely starting from now. Let Aquaman 2 release and from then on have a 5 year break. During that time you can have a Smallville continuation and even bring Brandon Routh back for his own Superman series. When the times comes you then start advertising a new Superman series that is brand new and not tied to anything that came before. Make it comfy and wholesome with as little politics as possible. After the second season if all goes well you can introduce Batman on the show and then give him a series of his own. Third season of Superman will be a build up to his first solo film, Brainiac. At this point Superman and Batman are already friends and will team up if needed. From there you can start growing the DC universe.
>Only then will the DC film fans be found again."
Nah. When Gunn "not fired" Cavill he lost all credibility and what little good faith there was left at the time. Look at pic related. He went back on the sole reason for letting Cavill go. Fricking liar.
Should've let Aronofsky do his thing with Man of Steel instead of Snyder. Should've never bothered with a shared universe. So instead of being just a few billions behind marvel, they're now a few billions in the negative.
Frick them anyway. DCgays are way too uppity and arrogant for no reason. They started trashing TDK for no reason when The Batman came out. Wtf? I say good riddance to the company as well as its rancid fans.
DC just kind of sucks and is yet again in a transition state. Flash wasnt horribly offensively bad or anything it just wasnt good. but also they keep ignoring that their strength was always a disconnected universe with tons of interesting movies. DC doesnt need to be marvel and it never will. Marvel cant even be Marvel right now.
Gunn must have talked them into going all in on another 'cinematic universe' - conveniently around the time that concept is wearing thin. what a vain homosexual. Joker and The Batman were the best thing to come out of DC since Nolan precisely because they weren't part of any moronic connected universe.
>Flash wasnt horribly offensively bad or anything
The plot was stupid, unoriginal rubbish.
There is nothing in that movie to redeem the effort put into creating it.
There's some good bit's in that film but there it is the worst DC film I have seen so far. Too many execs in the kitchen. Re editing this scene fit more into the DCEU than whatever bullshit we got.
Like what? The only good CGI is the alien ships directly imported from Man of Steel files. The fighting is lame, the story is derivative and lame, the main star is an over-acting flake, the villain is used poorly, Supergirl is dull, and Gadot and Affleck are somehow even more awful than Josstice League.
Neither Batman in this movie has any basis for knowing what time travel is like, what the rules and limitations are, it's like they've seen some movies about it at the theater and base Wally's abilities on that.
Following snyder wherever he goes. Execs ruin DC and just wanted to scrape marvel. If they stick with Snyder right now i think DC will still alive because of snyder distinctive signature and everyone is already bored of happy sappy capeshit
it's not bad at all
ask someone why they think it's bad and it will be some nonsensical reason
no one can articulate why it's "bad", they just were instructed by their media overlords to hate it
if this movie were made 10 years ago it would have been a huge hit
>it's not bad at all
moron >ask someone why they think it's bad and it will be some nonsensical reason
Bad acting
Bad CGI
TERRIBLE CGI
Embarrassingly awful CGI
Memberberries out the ass
"Hey remember this one?" Soundtrack
Crossovers with other DC franchises because WB felt Flash couldn't stand on his own
A flimsy reboot plot device that ends with more questions than answers
George Clooney Bruce Wayne
An absolute homosexual and sex pest actor in the starring role
Mutt Supergirl
Zod for no reason
Two Flashes for no reason, both extremely annoying
Just watched it and was pleasantly surprised. Not the worst DC has put out by far
>"your flick"
tell me how I know you're probably a snyderhomosexual
who cares about company or fan wars, I just want to watch enjoyable movies about these characters
Oh, frick. Your post reminded me how gross was WB trying to use Tim Burton's Batman and Zack Snyder's Man of Steel in the same movie as a member berries, when WB did everything to frick with their projects.
It's truly amazing that the MCU beat the DCU to every major plot beat at theaters.
Not a single DCU movie got into theaters that Marvel Studios had not already fully exploited the plot.
Watching flash ATM because it's on HBO Max and it's decent but really how many fricking different actors playing Batman do we need? There are zero stakes when multiverse shit comes into play, I hate it
they're moronic for still trying. i guess DC thinks since Marvel is starting to flounder that this is their opportunity, but people aren't just tired of Marvel-shit, they're tired of capeshit in general. DC blew it, they fricked up when shit was hot and now they missed the window. they're going to have to really innovate if they want any shot now, even if they vastly improve their overall quality, sticking to the standard super hero movie formula that they and marvel have been following just isn't going to work and i seriously doubt the morons running things there understand this.
ZSJL ends on a massive cliffhanger with the imminent fall of Earth....
....and then the next DC movie is Harley Quinn's female friends doing frick all. Frick these clueless twats. They wasted all that potential on frick all. Snyder dragged their asses for long enough. Gunn is failing even worse than Hamada did.
I'd like to go see Blue Beetle, but I'm a broke NEET and don't have the money to do so. Plus WB has a horrible track record for anything that isn't Batman/Superman related, and even those have been ok at best the last decade.
turns out the Snyder "pajeets" were actually just Americans that watched a microcosm of American corporatism play out with Cavill, Affleck etc and are now voting with their dollar in a heavily inflated, nosediving economy.
I bolted after I saw yet another pre-release photo of live action Catwoman in fricking heels. I want to watch a Batman movie, not the costume designer’s spank material
he destroyed one of the most iconic teamups of all time with his garbage batman v superman movie
he destroyed the concept of the justice league movie
he destroyed the concept of the multiverse with the garbage flash
WHERE HAVE ALL THE GOOD DC FANS GONE?
AND WHY'D THEY EAT GOYSLOP
WHERE'S ALL THE CHUDCELS TO WATCH STUFF TO PREVENT A FLOP?
ISN'T THERE AN AUTEUR KINO MAKER OUT THERE?
LATE AT NIGHT I BROWSE AND I CLICK
IT'S HIM ON VERO IN PRAYER
I liked the Snyder stuff as it was clearly a different thing to Marvel. When they started chasing Marvel by micromanaging their directors I dropped it. Shazam was the last one I watched, and it was obvious the franchise wasn't what I was looking for anymore. Watched Snyderleague and left with blue balls.
Wait, you mean the people showing up to the movies, buying merch, donating to charaties, and going out of their way to give free promo to DC were the real fans and not the people shitting on every DC movie, comic, and TV show and worshipping every piece of shit MCU movie that came out without ever hiding their bias were never actually planning to support DC after they abruptly changed directions to become MCU lite?
Wait, you mean the people showing up to the movies, buying merch, donating to charaties, and going out of their way to give free promo to DC were the real fans and not the people shitting on every DC movie, comic, and TV show and worshipping every piece of shit MCU movie that came out without ever hiding their bias. The outcome of this was always to anyone paying attention. MCU fans just like hating DC films and everything else. They were never the ones actually showing up to support DC films. Most of them weren't watching them at all and criticizing them anyway. Warner Bros fell for obvious trolling and shit posting and responded by destroying their own active fanbase to appease people who'd never consider supporting them. Have fun with the "real DC fans".
They're mostly just finishing shit they already had in the pipeline. Wait for the proper reboot material before we write off James Gunn. DC could really pick up.
>They're mostly just finishing shit they already had in the pipeline
Well too bad those movies just keep damaging the brand and people are already writing off Gunn since they are being associated with his universe. >inb4 but that's not his fault
It is when the moron keeps being vague, confusing and contradictory with his statements about the state of the DC universe
As a (former) DC fan, why the FRICK would I watch a DC movie? Superman is a murderer, Batman is a murderer, Wonder Woman is a spindly israelite murderer, the stories used for adaptation are garbage like Flashpoint and the New52 Suicide Squad.
The DCEU has more in common with a fricking Boys comic than it does with the DCU I grew up loving.
Died with the Snyderverse
Snyder vision no more. DC no more.
Based Snyder brethren.
They figured out batman is a fascist?
they fricked up so bad
lol
thats what happens when you have non visionaries running your studio
it if were me, id have the justice league fighting an alien invasion while justice league dark fights off a demonic invasion
No one knows who JLD is. Sure, film fan communities might just because they might look into comics to get a more in depth understanding but normies don't.
The fact that they throw Matt Reeves' The Batman on James Gunn's side instead of using the image of Peacemaker or something is hilarious.

no. Marvel is like the McDonalds of comics save for a few select pockets like X-Men.
I should've clarified, I meant movie wise not comic books.
Marvel is more consistent but DC has better one offs and their highs are better than the Marvel highs. but the majority of DC movies are crap now.
i was never a comic book guy, but when i was a kid in the 90s it seemed like DC had more cultural relevance. everybody knew Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
What exactly do you find to be a "good bit"?
>What exactly do you find to be a "good bit"?
Just this scene mainly.
That scene was written, directed, shot, and acted by Ben Affleck.
That should tell you all about that scene and the rest of the movie.
Neither Batman in this movie has any basis for knowing what time travel is like, what the rules and limitations are, it's like they've seen some movies about it at the theater and base Wally's abilities on that.
Waiting for Snyder to come back or no buy
Following snyder wherever he goes. Execs ruin DC and just wanted to scrape marvel. If they stick with Snyder right now i think DC will still alive because of snyder distinctive signature and everyone is already bored of happy sappy capeshit
It's a shame because Flash isn't that bad.
it's not bad at all
ask someone why they think it's bad and it will be some nonsensical reason
no one can articulate why it's "bad", they just were instructed by their media overlords to hate it
if this movie were made 10 years ago it would have been a huge hit
Just watched it and was pleasantly surprised. Not the worst DC has put out by far
i was surprised how many times I laughed, guess Sneeder is just bad at that
>it's not bad at all
moron
>ask someone why they think it's bad and it will be some nonsensical reason
Bad acting
Bad CGI
TERRIBLE CGI
Embarrassingly awful CGI
Memberberries out the ass
"Hey remember this one?" Soundtrack
Crossovers with other DC franchises because WB felt Flash couldn't stand on his own
A flimsy reboot plot device that ends with more questions than answers
George Clooney Bruce Wayne
An absolute homosexual and sex pest actor in the starring role
Mutt Supergirl
Zod for no reason
Two Flashes for no reason, both extremely annoying
have a nice day
No I don't think I will but keep pants shitting
I don't need to shit my pants. Your flick flopped hard. I'm doing good here
>"your flick"
tell me how I know you're probably a snyderhomosexual
who cares about company or fan wars, I just want to watch enjoyable movies about these characters
Triggered
nope
btw here's the best scene in The Flash
>I'm doing good here
You are literally malding and acting smug over an imaginary scenario in your head.
>an imaginary scenario
The Flash losing millions is imaginary?
They're watching anime and reading manga
DC is a damaged brand
You are such a closeted homo.
i don't care if they make new characters gay, it's better than making the old ones gay.
cope, seethe, the usual
enjoy reading your fifth year of peter getting Cucked by MJ and then by Felicia too
we're re-watching Man of Steel and Batman films by Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan.
Oh, frick. Your post reminded me how gross was WB trying to use Tim Burton's Batman and Zack Snyder's Man of Steel in the same movie as a member berries, when WB did everything to frick with their projects.
>when WB did everything to frick with their projects
And they turn around and re-release Snyder's work.
It's truly amazing that the MCU beat the DCU to every major plot beat at theaters.
Not a single DCU movie got into theaters that Marvel Studios had not already fully exploited the plot.
The fact that Russo Brothers came out and said that they used Zack Snyder's ideas for their movies is fricking hilarious.
Geoff Johns leaked the BvS script to Feige.
The Russos straight up confessed this shit during their interview.
Also Donner's Superman, Lois and Clark show from the 90's, Smallville, Fleischer Superman and DCAU.
Snyder JL was even worse than Whedon JL, somehow
The world disagrees.
Objectively not true.
Jesus Christ.
Have you tried making a good movie instead of trying to “catch up” to MCU like you’re owed people’s money?
I enjoyed the Snyderverse even for all it's flaws, it's was a very different experience to Marvel.
Now DC is just shit tier Marvel.
They should've made a R rated Constantine movie with full on occult stuff after joker,
Should've had a nudist Mary.
Warner split the fanbase.
No, anon, you're just irrationally angry and can't get women, that must be the reason, now pay up
I bolted after I saw yet another pre-release photo of live action Catwoman in fricking heels. I want to watch a Batman movie, not the costume designer’s spank material
General audiences see DC Comics as an inferior brand. No one trusts them anymore.
Snyder killed it. Dude was not equipped to make a connected universe.
snyder destroyed the entire dc brand
he destroyed one of the most iconic teamups of all time with his garbage batman v superman movie
he destroyed the concept of the justice league movie
he destroyed the concept of the multiverse with the garbage flash
he destroyed DC brand forever.
Warner Bros. stopped dangling the Snyder carrot in front of fans and grabbed the reboot stick.
WE NEED ZACK SNYDER
Wow. Color me shocked.

Have fun with the "real DC fans".
never had them to begin with
>Dude, I almost had you
>You never had me, you never had your car
They're mostly just finishing shit they already had in the pipeline. Wait for the proper reboot material before we write off James Gunn. DC could really pick up.
>They're mostly just finishing shit they already had in the pipeline
Well too bad those movies just keep damaging the brand and people are already writing off Gunn since they are being associated with his universe.
>inb4 but that's not his fault
It is when the moron keeps being vague, confusing and contradictory with his statements about the state of the DC universe
>Where have the DC fans gone?
Not to buy movie tickets
Batman a fascist!!
Comicbooks are pretty dead. A certain eastern genre manages to do better superhero stories than capeshit.
You mean manga? lol, no. Maybe stories outside of that. Their cape output is dreadful.
