It's a badly written show for morons. That's how Tony got away with it. It said so in the script and they stopped thinking about it.

Season 3 starts out really slow because Nancy Marchand died and they had to do last minute rewrites. It gets going in the second half.

Because the show is what passes for smart if you're the dumbest frick on planet earth. 400 pound morons sneak up on people in broad daylight and shoot them in front of witnesses and then drive off at 18 mph.
Chris gets to kill actors and waiters and bakers and whoever else he wants twelve or fifteen times per season and then he just goes home to his registered address and takes a nap.
Oh, look, it's the season where some guy gets out of prison and bugs tony for 14 episodes and then gets whacked what a thrill.
Oh good it's an episode about Meadow, A.J., and/or Carmella.

It may have been that way in the 1920s and cops may have looked the other way on micky mouse shit but Rico laws were a huge thing mostly due to RFK which makes it so strange all the mobsters have old man boners for his brother jfk

Season 1 has silly moments but it's still kino. They didn't quite realize what sort of show they were making yet so it was still using mob movie clichés along with the psychological/societal/family stuff.

Season 1 is the best one. It had a purpose and it knew what it wanted to do. The mom was an awful character who ruined anything good they had going on but the show got much much much worse after she died. Not cause she was gone, but because the show became aimless and just got worse overall until it ended up stumbling blind drunk lost deep inside a forest and died from its own incompetence. It was bad man. Lots of liberal shit in there too. Surprised no one brings up how often the show tries to push proto blm shit that the movie ultimately ended up pushing into actual blm shit
