You don't really know much about geopolitical reality of the region do you? Politica history, spy wars, fights over spheres of influence and all that? Outsiders are exposed to so many new things I understand they get confused. It must be hard enough to deal with the fact that not much has changed there in terms of value of human life.

Reading a book about the Soviet intelligence and its many successes (Operation Trust and so on), inflitration of pretty much every foreign agency and even governments make me think that it's really some subversive Soviet project.
