I mean, yeah
You can try to devalue the human accomplishments of cinematic works as being "consumed", but they're not. Art is not "consumed", it doesn't go anywhere.
You can try to claim it's just "entertainment", but film encapsulates the human spirit and ideals as much as Michelangelo's Creation of Man. If films that move the spirit are simple products made by cynical men, then so is the art adorning the Sistine Chapel.
But you wouldn't say that, because your argument isn't genuine, you're just an opportunist trying to validate your anti-social opinions. You won't get that from me.
This isn't true of all film, just like it's not true of all video games (though it is still true of some, where player agency and choice, or lack of choice and the psychology behind both, is a part of the art). Art within film is more subjective, as different films or movies hold different sentimental value for the invidiual based on how it was first viewed, along with whether it was a shared social experience, or not.
I wouldn't. Media will never give you the same feeling as a true experience. As someone entering hospice next week I'd encourage not wasting your youth or time with movies/video games/tv unless it's with friends and family you love.
