Italy or Germany. Their contemporary film making abilities are exceptionally lacklustre.

Is Jesus Christ Savior actually worth a watch? A Christian performance thing like that seems a little hypocritical from a rapist who would rape his own daughter.

Kurosawa literally said Kitano was his successor. And I don't mean Kitano's later action films, I mean his few last good ones in the early 2000s.

Germany, unfortunately. But in the 20s, and a little bit still in the 30s, they made the greatest films. Murnau, Lang, Riefenstahl, etc. A truly great cinema.

WW2 and America cucked them so hard that their cinema never really recovered, even during the New Wave. They missed out on that great 50s/60s period that made Japan and Italy global countries in cinema. And France has pretty much always been an important country for cinema.

The last great German film was Look Who's Back and the entire Herzog filmography before that.

Shit's whack, they really lost their way.
