Burnham's early shit was funny but the narcissism/self-indulgence got to him. You saw it starting with Whatever, it really got going with Make Happy, and then Inside was the kiss of death. He still has good comedic instincts but he needs to get the fuck over himself and stop thinking of himself as an artist, because he's not.

If he was an actual artist he would try to make a sincere work of art instead of hiding behind 50 layers of irony and meta-humor. He's afraid to actually take the leap; he wants to be the detached comedian and the soul-bearing poet at the same time, and that doesn't work. He should pick a lane, and the former is the one he actually has a good track record with.
