Who could direct a Shadow of the Torturer movie/series? I can't think of anyone who could handle the surreality besides maybe Dune-era David Lynch.

>chudcel torturer
12yo-core
except he has sex every 50 pages and has a female tulpa neuroatypical otherkin
he's also probably a half mutt PoC
>mutt's law
he's got white pale skin
Yeah, Severian is a white Argie a million years in the future.
>except he has sex every 50 pages
Way less but you have to realize he lives in a world where women need protection and he is half exultant, so taller and bigger than most. Its not surprising women threw themselves at him
there is no surreality in the books, only the narrator's perception
No one could direct it correctly. Too much relies on what severian does and does not decide to say.
Long Sun would work, also A Borrowed Man / Interlibrary Loan could.
Soldier of the Mist would the most kino though
>tfw you realize that every single one of Severian's little flashbacks has at least one minor discrepancy
What the FRICK does it mean?
Either different severians, he is remembering them all, or his perfect memory is just a meme
It can't even be a memory thing, my guy can just go back a few pages in his manuscript and double check what he wrote. It's either infinite Sevarians or him trying to tell the reader not to be too literal.
checked
he's got all the memory's from the "first" Severian too, and he just plainly says in the book that he changed a "few" things in the story too
He is lying to the reader. The whole "perfect memory" thing is an invitation from Wolfe to put all of Severian's claims to scrutiny, then you realize he isn't being honest with his new scripture and you need to think about what he is lying about and why.
I just don't see how it could work.
are the books worth a read?
Tv memed me into reading them last year and i read them 3 times then the rest of his books. Its amazing, starts out as typical heroes journey but every scene gives you hints of foreshadowing you wont pick up on until second reading. Wolfe's best quality was his foreshadowing / worldbuilding
>wanting an adaptation in current year
What is wrong with you?
I just finally finished Urth of the New Sun and wanted to talk about the book but I'm too pleb for Cinemaphile.
I did the exact same thing. What are your thoughts on Sidero? I took it as him being Jonas, loses his arm, and in his last scene he shakes severian's hand "as a close friend" which only jonas was really ever considered his friend
Yeah, he was the Once and Future Best Friend along with Miles.
Is this any good? I recently downloaded the Audiobooks after some anon recommend it but haven't gotten around to it
ive read the first book and its really good its a shame he didn't frick that one girl who was with him because the way he describes her body gave me a semi every time
read further
filtered, just stick to your webnovels
I don't read webnovels.
I haven't played a JRPG in perhaps 15 years.
Would you two care to lob more baseless insults like the meatheads you are?
>its a shame he didn't frick that one girl who was with him
he dicks down the bogged woman, don't worry
>bogged
clearly we're thinking of two different women
we aren't
frick does she get bogged later? im talking about the prostitute that gets stripped searched in front of severian and he describes her breasts and curves...
theres also that travelling actress at the end that needs dicking
Wait do you mean Thecla? Or the literal prostitute?
He fricks just about every woman he encounters in the series besides a little girl and an old witch, don't worry.
not thecla, im talking about agia the girl that went with him to get the plant and whos brother was executed[/spolier]
Agia? No, she was built for BHC (Big Hethor wiener).
>besides a little girl
im sorry gents i shant be partaking in this waste of time
You are so fricking stupid. "Bogged" as in jolenta, which isnt even in the first book.
Well, there's one woman who got Bogdanoffed, and another woman who was literally sunk in a bog (of water). And he fricks both of them.
God, you homosexuals ruin every /sffg/ thread promoting this overrated book. Now you're HERE too?!
It's not that interesting of a world. It's not that interesting of a story. Severian is a simp and a pedo, and his tale isn't worth adapting. I wish there was a way to convey the depths of the apathy I felt while reading this series. I stuck through the whole thing, because I was new to this kind of stuff and just exploring, and didn't want to be presumptuous, and figured that there must be something about this book that I'm not getting, and if I just read a little further, I'll come to understand what other people see in it.
But in the end, it was a huge waste of time.
>It's not that interesting of a world. It's not that interesting of a story. Severian is a simp and a pedo, and his tale isn't worth adapting
This is what your brain looks like after JRPG poisoning.
>that there must be something about this book that I'm not getting,
Bingo
Some random morons who’s done nothing but a few music videos
And the movie is turned into a vehicle to promote feminist/critical race theory propaganda and the story is turned into an allegory about how Trump is bad.
Just like every other adaptation
At this rate chuds will be complaining we can't have WW2 films as having Hitler as a bad guy is just an allegory about Tucker Carlson.
sure, and you will NEVER be a woman
I tried reading it and couldn't, it was so bad. Didn't even make past 70 pages
What books do you like?
Real life stuff but I used to read a lot of fantasy
I’m on the second book and struggling to finish, it almost reads like something high school-me would have written, thinking it was cool and unique. The prose is not nearly as good as people claim and the characters may as well be from a shonen anime. I now look down on anyone on this website who claims this series is some hidden fantasy gem, when it just doesn’t deserve such a reputation.
no one is claiming its a fantasy gem
Ok excuse me homosexual, a “scifi” gem
who gives a frick about scifi?
Sorry you got filtered. What part to you give up on? Did you get to Story of the Man Shaped From Dreams? That part is what sold me on the series.
But anon, you don't get it. His hecking weighted sword took off the man's head in one chop. And then he fricked some underage pussy. And then like mirrors are the window into the soul.... whoa...
>And then like mirrors are the window into the soul
That wasn't the point of Father Inire's mirrors.
I know. But it's funnier the way I phrased it. And their true purpose is equally as trite.
>His hecking weighted sword took off the man's head in one chop.
Did it? He said it did and it went smoothly but them dorcas says how much he struggled on the stage directly after it.
The mirrors are the window to different parts of the universe, literal portals
>The mirrors are the window to different parts of the universe, literal portals
Yeah, that's how I interpreted it. Like a displacement of time. It was just funnier to say windows into the soul.
>Did it? He said it did and it went smoothly but them dorcas says how much he struggled on the stage directly after it.
It's been a while since I've read it, so those kinds of details are already forgotten. But the way I remember it, he chopped many of people down in one stroke. Not just one dude on stage. And was he struggling physically or emotionally? I have to wonder, because again, it's all very vague for me now. I only have fragments of memories and impressions.
It would be very hard to adapt faithfully. You'd have to have Severian's narration as voice over I think, I'm not sure the story can function without it.
Either way, an hour long play they put on midway through the second book would filter 90% of the audience
