Besr or most iconic? Best is of course subjective, but if you had to name the most iconic villain you'd probably have to say it's Freddy Kruger.

Freddy dude. Best kills bar none. He's also fun. His whole power structure is perfect for a horror movie with surrealistic elements, and classic in relation to our childhood fears of nightmares coming to life.

He's not fun in 5 or reboot. He really lost the plot there. Just a mean spirited dude who hated fun so much that he didn't want the audience of his movie to have any. Talk about losing the plot, Fred.

The best horror movie final who terrorizes society and himself despite being the protagonist.

I think it comes down to the big three.
    Michael Myers
    Jason Voorhees
    Freddy Krueger

The "big three" have had two good movies between them in the last twenty years (FvJ and Friday 2009. The BigC has had ten (with the most recent being X).

    >le spooky nun
Neither ghostface nor jigsaw belong anywhere near Freddy. Neither are as iconic. The onions nun doesn’t belong in the same category as ghostface or jigsaw, much less Freddy.

For me it's Freddy. He's the one that's had the most consistency in tone and character. He's one of the 5 most iconic horror megastars. His films are the most consistent in quality too.

It's a good choice. I'm not sure about having the most consistency in tone or character though. He's kinda all over the place throughout the series, same with his backstory and the tone of the films. He hits some of the highest highs (1, 3, FvJ) but there are some real low points too. 5 in particular is a very unpleasant film and reboot shows a loss of faith in the concept of Freddy for today's audiences. Friday 2009 is leaps and bounds better than FreddyReboot, which is ironic because almost all of the other Friday movies are crap.

The Nun 2 is actually a good movie. That puts her on par with Jason for number of good solo movies and also gives her a much higher batting average.

I like Ghostface because you never know who's behind that mask. I liked Freddy too in the Freddy vs. Jason movie. Haven't seen any of the NoES movies.

Yeah, the multi identity name of Ghostface is cool.

Was Jigsaw's "I want to play a game" partially modeled off of him?

Freddy. He's got the best style and personality.

I hope we can get some kind of Freddy vs. Jason style showdown that includes other big horror villains.

I’m surprised so many people are saying Freddy. I always thought he was third in the popularity contest behind Myers and Jason

I like Halloween but growing up is realizing that Elm Street is the superior slasher. Scream is also great
