Larry David was the talent over Jerry. Jerry's standup sucks and he would have been a footnote if not for Larry.

yeh but the show wouldn't have worked as well without Jerry's straightman role and willingness to give others the spotlight. Jerry knew when to delegate well and knew how to spot talent.

lol imagine being so bad at humor you only succeed when being the straightman in a comedy

He's always been the creative force behind the show but how is Larry also so much better at acting than Jerry? You would've thought Jerry would've taken some kind of training or something or even just improved by virtue of doing it every week for a decade. Larry just seems like a natural whereas even today Jerry seems like he's phoning it in.

Jerry is good at acting as himself and Larry is good at acting as himself. I don't think they have much range beyond that?

I always hear people say Seinfeld got too wacky once Larry left but Curb is just is wacky half the time.

larry alone would have been to degenerate and mikey for mainstream network audience. jerry alone wouldn’t have been funny enough for mainstream network audiences. they kept eachother in check. i’ve always respected both of their talents and jerry sacrificed what many call ‘humor’ by keeping it clean. raunchy comedy and political shit is cheap and easy, jerry never went there and for this i respect him.

every curb episode is a great premise ran into the ground by shitty improv. Jerry was right, you shouldn't care about what an actor thinks is funny.
