Who is the worst offender of this? For me, it is the New X-men run by Frank Quitely, literally bard inducing art

homie doctor X looks like my ballsack.
>nooo i c-can't c--coom because i think about muh b-ballsack
Joke's on you, he was using your ballsack as a reference.
doctor x?
AMP IT UP
ACTION MAN
>Nooo i can't c--coom to this wh-wheres muhh Jim Lee
>Asian Emma Frost not hot
Fool
when did Handsome Squidward join the X-Men anyway
>getting filtered Frank Quitely
ISHYGDDT
I think Frank's art actually works well when doing grimy stories like 2000AD
The ugliness is what makes them cool, but shit taste weebs who want everything to he moe shit wouldnt know anything about that
>Cartoongay trying to defend ugliness
Yeah no shocker there. You morons live ugly.
>The ugliness is what makes them cool
No. Only reason you make them ugly is because you lack the talent needed to make them beautiful.
>talent
>just copy someone's else artstyle or use AI
Damn anon
read what you are saying, you need to copy others art or use technology created in 2024 to make attractive art. western artists just suck at making characters attractive
you are a "westerner", stop acting as if you;re some native nihonjin and "westerners" are a foreign species.
Wrong, it takes more talent to make something ugly and cool looking then copy and paste anime shit
Moe shit is worse, frick you
>Moe shit is worse, frick you
at least it doesn't have vomit inducing colors
because it looks bland and formulaic, shit taste Cinemaphilesswipe
>No. Only reason you make them ugly is because you lack the talent needed to make them beautiful.
Meanwhile.
Strong is beautiful.
Baki is ugly on purpose
Westernslop is ugly because Americans hate aesthetics
Transmetropolitan wouldn't improve if you had someone like Campbell or Adam Hughes drawing Yelena and Channon in every issue. Neither the Boys would work with someone like Gurihiru. 2000s comics were batshit insane and ridiculous because everyone was trying to be an edgy c**t.
Such a cope lol.
>if you don't want it too look like trash it means you want it to look like moe
Meanwhile there are moe manga that look great. Also not shitting on Quitely since he excels where most comic artists fail.
Ps: clarence looks atrocious.
Moe is samey vapid garbage for shit taste losers who want everything to be placid and inoffensive
Nope , there are plenty of good moe series. Also I wouldn't talk about samey vapid garbage in a cape thread.
Moe is shit just like the majority of modern anime, go frick yourself
I follow OP on twitter and their art is very far from moeshit.
i like it
>bard inducing art
I like Quitely, but he's not worth singing about.
I mean to say barf sorry
it's the shitty early days of digital coloring
Quitely is one of best sequential artists in the industry, regardless of his weird faces
the 00's has this ugly aura on them, from comics to videogames and movies, when I think about that decaded I think about brown lens flare
It started in the 80's movies, but by the later 90s it spread out to other medias.
And those camera color filters on every damn action movie.
Someone once described 2003 as looking like "a Prison workout yard on a hot day, through a mexico filter."
I remember DC having the better art of the two during the early 2000s.
They always did.
Weak
I spit at them.
Fricking weak all of these limp wristed weaklings.
But are you not the most forgiving of men, Redeemer?
I-i don't really liek this
We're talking about USAmerican comics.
Redeemer and 40k are from Bongland.
Quitely's great. New X-Men and The Authority were dips in terms of how he drew faces, and it didn't help that he didn't ink his own stuff.
Quitely is a god and you are wrong to think this. Having some goofy faces is not the same as the grotesque mediocrity in the Boys.
i'm wrong for not liking something? Piss off, I don't like Quitely, his runs always look "dirt" and I don't how to properly explain it but I just don't like it
>I don't how to properly explain it but I just don't like it
Cinemaphile in a nutshell
@144158559
>doctor X
you're just a moron looking for (You)s
The art looks really good to me idk what the op is talking about
Gay ass moeshitters
That's a non-comic reader. Their opinion literally doesn't matter.
The entire reason why American comics collapsed was because they cared more about what everyone else thought than they did about actual comics readers.
>That's a non-comic reader
Maybe more people would read them if they weren't so fricking ugly. It's not like The Boys is some great seminal work of literature either.
WHAT PART OF "NON-COMIC READER" DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?
THEY. DO. NOT. READ. COMICS.
PERIOD.
And, Black person? You've yet to prove they're worth reading.
It filters midwits like yourself, so that means they're worth reading
>It filters midwits
You're really saying capeshit filters midwits? have a nice day and livestream it.
The guy in the OP reads French comics, Asterix is their favorite
I kind of get what he was trying to say regarding specifically 2000's capeshit (and even then there were good artists) but it's still largely close-minded if poorly worded out
Darick's not a bad artist either, it's the fricking Boys what'd you expect that stuff to look like?
Alex Ross, Dan Mora, Moebius, etc could do art for it and it'd still look appropriately hideous
You can't make "Captain America parody pissing himself" not look ugly
>Darick's art is bad.
What?
Quitely draws good background
nah, stupid opinion
it's fine to not like quitely, but most i think would disagree with you especially other artists
personally i think he's incredible and he channels the old euro styles like moebius
few can match his technical prowess
but it is a unique look, may turn some off i guess
the problem with the boys is the colorist
i bet the pencils or inks by themselves would be much easier to read
but the colorist has this kid-who-just-figured-out-how-highlights-work thing that he does that muddies everything up
look at op's image the metal of the shield, the spandex costume, the skin of the dude, and the clouds behind him all have the same level of shininess
and all the base colors are really dark so they don't pop off the outlines and blacks
>Twitter thread
Opinions straight into the garbage
This is like 75% the reason American comics just aren't popular. Yeah shit stories, being expensive, and hard to jump into are factors too, but the whole reason people got into anime/manga in the first place is that it just looks appealing. New comics look ugly and old stuff looks boring.
I stopped following comics once they started going into digital coloring. Just the smooth gradient look is so fricking ugly and it didn't help that coloring style was attached to more and more lazy art. Kinda blame Image for that shit with Jim Lee and Leifeld trash.
Basically skipped the whole Ultimate Marvel era, don't even read modern comics. But a few years into that I got into Mike Allred and was so fricking glad that somebody out there could still draw characters and someone could color without gradient garbage. I'm also glad Alex Ross was also there to create some of the highest quality art for comics.
I hate how The Boys is the current comic that non-comic readers first think of when they think of American comics. It just makes the whole industry look bad by association. The show's audience might be vocal, but its ratings are terrible, which just proves how small the audience is for that sort of thing.
Maleev's art on Bendis Daredevil was pretty ugly.
>people defending ugly cover in the OP
and that's why manga is winning. your aesthetics are shit, you hear me? SHIT
People are defendingf the cover?
There are at least three shit-eaters ITT getting rabidly defensive over it.
Yeah one of them is
explain to me, what is so appealing about the pic in OP? I'll wait. Granted, it's not as ugly as you are, but still
>shock value comic has shock value cover
What's wrong with it?
Alex Maleev.
God, I hate Maleev and his ugly "artstyle".
American comics are often unreadably ugly. I'm guessing it's due to high output, because if you're on the clock you have to cut corners and standards drop. It's not like Americans can't draw, it's that their comic culture is dominated by corporate thought that will serve people the worst slop they can get away with, and idiots who will defend that. Read outside of the big two, and suddenly you'll find American comics with decent art.
>It's not like Americans can't draw, i
Most "American" comics aren't even drawn by Americans. People keep citing guys like Quitely and Dillon and they're from the UK. Pick up any big two book and odds are it's done by a guy from Europe or the UK.
odds are far great that it's someone from South America these days
Was actually going to say South America but had a brainfart in that moment.
That said, Spain in particular is also huge for comics art right now.
>stain turns blue pants bright yellow
that's not piss
Steve Dillon.
Why did Frank shoot Frank?
>western artists trying their hardest to draw a female character as attractive
The comic has a very fitting style to its story and setting, I wonder if that Twittard even knows what its about.
God you weebs are pathetic
>garbage Ennis slop gets garbage tv adaption
Oh no! Anyways
It's the ugly digital coloring. It's all very smoothed over and saturated with dark and clashing palettes
anime/manga has been digitally colored since the 90's and still looks more pleasant though.
Manga is usually black and white, and animu is a whole different ballgame
The covers are still digitally colored and look fine.
Quietly, Dillon and Kordey are the worst ones I know. Everything they draw is ugly as sin. If you can't draw a hot woman you shouldn't be drawing a fricking comic book.
>Quietly, Dillon and Kordey are the worst ones I know
All solid artists too.
Only Quitely is.
Dillon had his moments
Dillon's was never great and then he became awful.
No, especially not Kordey.
Quitely is the best of them, but all three have drawn well in comics.
coombrain take. I don't need sexy women in a sci-fi or western or war comic, for example. It can work for some stories or be the center of it, but I wouldn't avoid a story because I don't think the women are sexy enough.
Dillon drawing weird, average looking people was perfect for Preacher.
there should definitely be sexy space babes in sci-fi
I agree, but not every one needs sexy woman, only if it fits the story or the aesthetics.
Barbarella is a sci-fi story that's entirely made by how sexy the women are. Sillage is also hinged on the MC being cute. But not every Sci-fi comic is Barbarella.
I have good news for you about Dillon
This is the only aceptable art style for moeshitters
Nice strawman, why are moronic people like you able to engage the OP without making an imaginary identity about him?
what art is good?
Is it just Ennis dickriders, or do all capeshitters feel the need to defend things that are obviously shit?
I'm just here to call OP, and I guess you, a moron for shitting on Quitely
OP here, one day later and Quitely still sucks. Keep sucking on his ball sack faces, homosexual.
one day later and you're still a moron
right back at ya
No, I don't think I will.
What's obviously shit?
