Rednecks and boomers I think actually. I know exactly what you mean but there's always this sense of "justice" being mete out on these shows, like shower arguments boomers come up with inside of their head and wrote down onto a script.

I'm a libertarian type that voted for Trump and hates Black folk. I watched 2 minutes of this garbage and turned it off. I felt the exact same as the OP. It's childish internet tough guy nonsense.

Probably a psyop. They picked the biggest, toughest buck they could find with homosexual leftist opinions and a story about getting raped and roping himself despite having a young family. He's a humiliation ritual.

this show is fun when it's just reacher investigating mysteries n shit, but it's interspersed with these moments of gratuitous, nauseatingly graphic violence that make it unwatchable. couldn't they tone it down a little?

it really isn't. Reacher is a vanguard/knight/protector of the cathedral and the values of meaningless postmodernism. The lonesome drifter who can beat up six men with his wiener alone act is so you watch it.

Baby boomers who are so old they forgot what they were actually like so they go around believing he's reflective of how they were in their youth.
It's also just a standard power fantasy.

my 70yo veteran father just finished it. I was bored and by it and left him to it. He watches shit shows like this all the time because he has literally told me before he doesn't care about the story he just wants to see action shows, Fine no problem you like what you like. BUT I caught him watching a series from the 2nd season before and I told him just start over so you know whats going on and he just goes well I'm already watching it. WHAT!? He will not watch ANY other genre of film and movies. It's maddening because he will go on Hulu/Amazon/Netflix and say nothings on.... wut.

I like occasional action slop like anyone else but for fricks sake.

The feeling you feel, is how normal women's that view men that complain about women in action movies, feel.
    It's the "unrealistic" thing.
    >"Women beat 200lb men"
    >Normal man: This is moronic girl power fantasy. Chud men: This is moronic girl power fantasy
    >Normal women: It's fiction, it's just fun! Chud women: Is the best thing ever.
    >"John wick kills 40 man in his 60s"
    >Normal man: It's fiction, it's just fun! Chud men: It's fiction, it's just fun!
    >Normal women: Unrealistic! Chud women: This is moronic power fantasy
    >"Reacher stops a bullet with his pec and also is 3 meters tall and breathes fire"
    >Normal man: Unrealistic! Chud men: Is the best thing ever.
    >Normal women: This is moronic power fantasy Chud women: This is moronic power fantasy

I've never seen the show but he looks like an action hero sort of character. Tell me this does not have the typical trope of a bunch of hooligans hassling this guy. Casting a someone who is suppose to cause conflict for the main character should be believable enough that they might actually seem a threat.
I feel this would be Gary Stu level territory if a bunch of low level thugs think it would be a good idea to try and pick a fight with someone 3 times their size.

The idea of this trope would be that a larger villain is picking on a smaller hero and they get their comeuppance when they realize "they didn't know who they were messing with" and the underestimated hero surprises the villain and the audience at what they are capable of.
What is there about this guy to underestimate?
