I would say the only one who could switch out is Venom with Green Goblin(Harry) and thats only if we could get a Rogues vs Flash vs Prof Zoom situation. Sinister Six vs Spider-Man vs Venom

Of course Shocker, Beetle, Electro and Mysterio can be swapped out with whoever. Personally I like to keep Venom and Green Goblin out of it. They don't feel like Sinister Six villains to me

Honestly I never understood putting Connors on the team. I would think he's too savage and unpredictable as The Lizard

Ock, Vulture, Rhino, Electro, Scorpion, and Hobgoblin.
I think they should all be fairly one-note on their own, but together make something menacing. I know Mysterio is pretty standard, but he really does so much that it fricks up the dynamic IMO.

I find the OG lineup to be pretty much perfect, but the first one from TSSM is a close second.

    Shocker
    Scorpion
    Electro
    Green Goblin
    Vulture
    Kraven

Doctor Octopus should be behind the scenes manipulating it all as Mastermind. Yes even Normie can be manipulated if he's in on it.
Rhino can't be here because he's too busy being the Kingpin of crime.

So you have the heavy hitter
    >Rhino, Lizard, Carnage,
    The enviornmental control
    >Sandman, Hydroman, Shocker
    The poisoner/mind control/controlled chaos
    >Kraven, Mysterio, Scorpion
    The aerial control
    >vulture, hobgoblin, jack o lantern
    And The Leader
    >Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Venom

And from there just pick one more of any category for the sixth man. You can't go wrong. I'm not going to go into team dynamics and what powers would be best. But obviously shit like Hydroman and Electro need to not happen ever and maybe only have Caenage if Venom is also there.

    The main team definitely
    >Dock Ock
    >Mysterio
    >Electro
    >Vulture
    >Sandman
But I would much rather have Scorpion as #6 than Kraven. The team is missing the muscle.

Venom never seems to fit, he's not really a mustache twirler that schemes against the city or wants to take over the world. He always seems to just lay low pretend to be a normal guy whenever he is not on a revenge plot.

Meanwhile Green Goblin and most Hobgoblins are a little too much of a schemer to really work well with other guys unless they are the ones in charge or making all the plans.

I also like the Syndicate too much to remove any of their members. I like the Hydro-Man, Boomerang, Rhino, Beetle, Shocker, and Speed Demon setup to break that up.

I defy these trips. Chameleon is only cool when he can take on the powers of the person he turns into. Otherwise you have a guy just being a Scooby Doo villain while 6 gods fight in the air around him

      Anonymous

Mysterio and Chameleon are redundant. Chameleon works best when he long term replaces someone and ruins lives. Mysterio is there for the big fight where robots are coming out all over the place for some reason and he's a giant shooting lightning bolts out of his fishbowl.

        Anonymous

Chameleon only has two good stories.
The one where he takes over Jameson for weeks and Jonah is locked in some closet.
        and
When he gets revealed to be related to Kraven. It was out of no where but at least Kraven got killed because of it.

    Thoughts on the Sinister 7?
You got mainstays Hobgoblin, Vulture, Mysterio, Shocker and Electro, but they let Beetle (Jenkins) and Scorpia play with the big boys. Think they deserve it?

This issue showed that Hobgoblin happens to have a Batman-tier supervillain lair with super computers and a wall of scifi guns of every type. That he never bothered to use when fighting Spider-Man for some reason.

        Anonymous

Fighting Spider-Man and other superheroes is his paying job, if he actually wins he puts himself out of work.

That issue showing the Spider-Man villain community coming together to defend themselves from Kaine was good though. Hobgoblin's military and CIA history being used to have him organizing them, Vulture going from being salty Ock leading to being salty at Hobgoblin leading, Mysterio having his own agenda, Beetle and Shocker knowing they're lower-tier villains than the others and using Hobgoblin's guns to overcompensate.

        They're not?
I know Melter isn't (he's Iron Man, right?)

          Anonymous

8-Ball is a Sleepwalker rogue, Killer Shrike an Hulk/Iron-Man villain and Melter is a Iron Man foe. They’ve all fought Spider-man but strictly speaking only half are full on Spider-man villains which i think is half the joke of the lineup

            Anonymous

The original Melter who fought Iron Man has been dead since the 80s, he was one of the Scourge victims. The second Melter was a completely unrelated character, one of a group of teen villains in a Young Avengers mini. Since then a new Melter has appeared among the knockoff villains Kingsley was setting up and surrounding himself with. Presumably it's been the same guy ever since, I think the only time he ever got any spotlight at all was in a Morbius mini of all places.

              Anonymous

Forgot to add, Killer Shrike has fought Spider-Man a number of times since the 80s, he's not exactly out of place amongst a group of Spidey villains, he's more in Peter's league than he is fighting Hulk or Iron Man.

I never liked the concept of the sinister six was just an editorial gimmick Spiderman pos ditko has a lot of that. I'm starting to do my cutoff at the end of the Ditko era and then I'll pick up random issues from the next writers/artists. It all seems so much worse despite the better writing and art

To me Ock should be the guy with the biggest ego on the team and the clear ring leader. Venom is too much of a loose cannon, and Green Goblin would usurp him, which can be cool on its own, but not as an ideal Sinister Six.

I think a lot of the other iconic villains work best when they get full attention. Kraven and Scorpion should spend a full issue hunting Spider-Man. Goblin should always be his own thing, maybe with subordinate goblins.
