I enjoyed this sequence, but I never understood how the audience was supposed to know that Quicksilver knew in this moment that something was even wrong. My only guess was he could hear/feel the explosion, but he also seemed to know exactly where to go to get down to the secret basement level. Is there any rational explanation for this?
Watch the clip again. When he runs toward the school and the professors card is hanging in the air you can see off to the left the beginnings of the explosion bursting through the ground. That's why he makes a "Huh!?" sound and face before he runs in.

Superman has plot nerfing, not plot armor. Plots have to make him artificially weak/distracted/etc. in order for there to be any real drama.

Reminder that Zack consulted with scientists about how the effect and physics should be portrayed (hence why the lightingbolt was changed from yellow to blue), Miller learned yoga and running from Olympic athletes and the suit was done by formula 1 engineers.
This is by all means how it would actually look if it existed.
