You know, the real problem is that they fricked the story up, fricked every character up, completely missed anything and everything that made the comic so great. Death just being black isn't really an issue, though, since the Endless more or less reflect he society around them when they show up on Earth. Cinemaphile is just mad because they can't jack off to the actress that they cast. That's all this comes down to. You guys wanted to coom to le goth gf and instead you got DEY HEA, that's okay, just admit that it's because you're racist coomers and you would hate this even if they actually adapted it well.

There's absolutely nothing about Death's character that requires her to be white. The Endless appear black in the Africa storyline, hence pic related from my last post. This is literally just because you guys wanted to waifu it up over Death's character, but can't because she's a fugly nog. There are a zillion pictures of attractive white women cosplaying as Death. If you really need to scratch that itch you can. Death being race-swapped is honestly more sensible than Despair not being a hideous old woman, but just some fat, bland looking office woman, since they can't have the stunt-casted fat woman be TOO ugly, or it would be "body shaming" or some gay shit.
Point is, the story could still be told if they were ALL black but they fricked the story up.

The real answer is that Dark Tower fans wanted to self-insert as Roland, and couldn't do that with a black guy. It's why BLACKED porn sucks so much

because israelites like Gaiman want to demoralize you. They want to parade the grotesque and ugly and treat it as beautiful, because their goal is the inversion of every value you might have held, to get you to either accept the grotesque as beautiful or be too demoralized to fight back.

They're unironically trying to convince people that ugly black people are actually attractive and it's just because people have been conditioned to view beauty a certain way that whites don't want to frick them.

They believe that beauty is a social construct instead of largely an objective reality.

It's no different to thinking that a turd is as beautiful as a diamond.

I wonder if the creators of these shows are aware that they are in the business of producing more racists. I mean, no racist will ever watch shows like this after seeing enough black people they'll one day be less racist. Meanwhile there are millions of normies who aren't racist, who always thought of themselves as fairly liberal and color blind, but these shows are slowly chipping away at their sanity until one day the fatigue gets too strong and they break and admit that something is wrong here, that these casting choices aren't what they were supposed to be.

Honestly, I have been wondering for a while now if that is not the true intention of the events of the past decade, to push blacks in everyone's faces to make them the main target of people's ire, a misdirection you might say.

Yes in the 2000s, something like 12 to 22 years ago. I don't care that it was your youth, I'm talking about the present. There is not a lot of these characters in current media and on the other side, you can't count the number of raceswap that replace the original characters with the "dreads middle aged black lady" like some anon pointed out.

Frick off, moron. The pale skin and dark hair is death symbolism. If she is black, she has black hair because all blacks have black hair and her ankh means "we wuz kangs."
If she is Caucausian then she has the pale skin of death, her hair is black for symbolic reasons and the ankh is an ironic reference to the ancient Egyptian symbol of life.

As amusing as these little thought experiments can be you have to understand you aren't having a discussion with people that operate on any sort of functioning logic and unironically believe its okay when they do it because they're on the right side of history.

The endless take the appearance that whoever encounters them fantasizes about. Since this show is American, it fully makes sense that the hot one would be black (and not particularly attractive)

No the Endless take on alternate appearances whenever the artists wanna do something different for a few pages and just to play around some. Its wildly inconsistent and should be taken with an oversized grain of salt.

It was simply a point of exaggeration to be extremely skeptical of using that train of thought as any real proof or basis for anything. It could be a neat scene here and there for flavor but that's about it, and its definitely not a reasonable basis for stunt casting Death as a black woman by any stretch.

Oh yeah I'd be entirely fine if they played around a ton with the whole idea of them looking different to different people based on their ideologies and the like. But they couldn't just do that could they? They had to down the whole cake and tell everyone else to eat dick instead.

Adapting it well would mean not casting an ugly pie face negress though. Doing so entirely misses the artistic conceptualization of death.

Death in Sandman is supposed to be a juxtaposition of the standard interpretation of the Grim Reaper. Which is why Death is portrayed as Young, Attractive, and Loving.

And while some people find some Black women attractive, meaning they could've at least cast some Mulatto Halle Berry type that didn't have huge nostrils, it would still subconsciously run up against the idea of Death being Loving. And nobody thinks of Black women as Loving, not even the majority of Black people. No in fact the first thought that comes to mind for the vast majority of people (of any race) is selfish b***hes that always cause drama and have explosive emotional outbursts over the most trifling matters. Unless they're 60yrs old, then they can be kind Loving Mamys, but that Old Age once again goes against the original concept for Death in the comics.

So no. There is no way to do Death right other than sticking to how it was done in the comic.

And sure, 30 years ago Sandman had some Progressive ideas in it, FOR THE TIME, but the problem is the Hollywood hack writers who only read this in the Wiki think this gives them a green light to apply their "Progressive" values from 2022 to this fictional adaptation, which as we see with Death, causes them to totally frick it while missing the underlying reasoning that made the work compelling in the first place.

They could've picked other spots to ideologically splooge on without fricking up what made the original good, but that would require them to respect the source material and have the good judgement to not overly indulge in their spastic, baser instincts.

I don't mind casting different types of people for characters, but even as a big progressive lefty I have noticed that certain media companies ideas of 'diversity' mean picking bald middle aged black lady or dreads middle aged black lady. They won't ever consider Asian actors, non standard white actors, younger or older actors, and they can only picture black actors as those two specific caricatures. Even the left recognise his bullshit corpos during pride month are, but not as many realise this is just the same shit

I've been putting off reading Sandman for a little over a decade now because I wanted to be ready for it and really enjoy it, but I think I'll read it now. After doing a cursory search of the differences between the comic and the Netflix adaption I can tell the comic will be way better.

The show was pretty good, though.

God damn it, it's so simple an upgrade for a team of makeup artists with the budget they have and they couldn't even be arsed to do this. And of course the moron consoomers are eating it up like no tomorrow.

This lmao, Black Americans hate their women like no other. It's crazy

this is netflix we're talking about. they wouldn't do something as problematic as imply that a black actress doesn't have fair skin

I used to feel fairly indifferent about Netflix blunders and even enjoyed laughing about them on Cinemaphile, but recently I'm starting to feel a bit annoyed. Like, all this wasted potential is starting to get to me. I would have genuinely enjoyed a good show based on the Sandman comics. It didn't even have to be great, just watchable quality like what Netflix used to make during their decline years with stuff like A Series of Unfortunate Events, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, later ST seasons etc. Clearly inferior to their golden years, but still decent enough quality and watchable.

The left side of her face having a tattoo also made it more oval and softened it up, which helped.

Yeah, I was wondering, what's up with that?

She's not absolutely disgusting, but clearly below the level of attractiveness required to be a lead in a big Hollywood production. I'm sure a white woman couldn't look like that.

Is this just attractive to black people and that's why I don't get it?
