Me, by the looks of it. I never played wow and I have zero interest in it, but it was actually a cool movie. It's generic enough setting that it doesn't matter.
They thought it was gonna be a big hit like Lord of the Rings and launch a franchise of films that would come to a more exciting conclusion maybe with a Warcraft 3 or WoW movie
Instead, it was the quality of a Netflix film
I try telling them "don't make movies of a video game" but they still haven't learned anything
i don't really care about the blacks. in the context of the game it doesn't really make sense as there's no defined origin for for the nagger phenotype, but whatever. they're humans. cool.
Don't know why they went with this Warcraft 1 story that no one born after '85 is even aware of.
They could've opted for any Warcraft 3 ROC subplot which are already fairly 'cinematic' and would adapt to the big screen more smoothly.
The human campaign focusing on Arthas, the NE campaign focusing on Tyrande and Illidan as the anti-hero trump card, the Orc campaign with a focus on the Thrall/Hellscream rift, all with the actual Burning Legion invasion used as the 'big stakes' impending endgame lurking in the background, similar to how the White Walkers worked in the first few seasons of GoT
i really like the wc1 story. but they really should have told it properly. fuck pandering to both sides, go full horde victory. the humans lose in wc1, wc2 movie is for the humans.
true, but the games canon ending is the total destruction of stormwind city. i wanted the ending where the orcs sit atop a smoldering pile of rubble, watching the human survivors flee in their ships to the north as sweeping orchestral music swells into the end credits.
My big problem was expecting them to make it all cg. My hope was that a Warcraft movie was just going to be a 1:30 - 2:00 hr long cinematic. Made inhouse. Instead it's Warcraft Orcs Vs Cosplayers. Took me out of the movie every time it changed to the Alliance scenes. Shit was jarring. Humans and orcs are relatively the same height, with orcs being a head taller max, in the games but the movies have them towering over humans like they're ogre sized or something.
i really like the wc1 story. but they really should have told it properly. fuck pandering to both sides, go full horde victory. the humans lose in wc1, wc2 movie is for the humans.
Nah, the movie is cool specifically because it covers the plotline of the first game. Shame it didn’t do better, I would’ve loved to see WC2 on the big screen. Don’t care about WC3 or WoW slop, never played a 3D WarCraft game and never will.
contrarian opinion.
Mario Movie is good stupid fun elevated by Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper. But it's not a good Mario movie. The new one is a better Mario movie.
t. watched Super Mario Bros('93) every weekend at the lakes as a kid
fucking travis fimmel was fucking awful in this. why was he doing his vikings accent? the guy who played the king sucked as well. the wizards were cool though.
What sort of retarded opinion is this? Lothar and Tony Stark's younger dad were the only good human actors. The guy they got for Khadgar was terrible, looked like they grabbed some dude who was buying chips from the vending machine.
All the humans look completely out of place next to the CGI characters like in the shot you posted.
There's no way around this except committing to either all costumes and makeup or full CGI.

Terrible comparison. Lord of the Rings is middle fantasy. Warcraft is high fantasy. Mix of costumes and CGI works in LotR because despite Tolkien's autistic level of description, it being literature still leaves it open to interpretation. There's not an awful lot of magic in LotR comparatively either. Limited almost entirely to Eru's angels on Earth and only the oldest and most powerful of Elves. Which means almost every community in that setting builds things practically. Which allows an adaptation to take a more realistic approach to filming.
Warcraft on the other hand being high fantasy and having decades of video games firmly establishing its aesthetic leaves little room for interpretation and makes a mix of cgi and costuming look off. A Warcraft Human is visually distinct. They're not an Earth Human like LotR. They're Azerothian Humans. Same goes for elves and gnomes and trolls and etc etc etc. Having an Earth human, whether they're dressed like a warcraft human or elf, will always look like a bad cosplayer when stood next to a fully rendered 3D model of a warcraft orc.
In a Warcraft movie CGI humans wearing CGI armor will always look better than an actor wearing injection molded polyurethane "armor".
What kind of retarded cope is this? Warcraft is literally just a LOTR ripoff.

Lord of the Rings literally bankrupted the studio and the distributor and STILL has not made a profit.
yeah, i watched it quite recently, it's already aged badly. even the older wow cinematics are starting to show their age. but that might just be from compression. i do believe fully animated is the way. there was rumour about netflix cartoon, i have no faith in netflix productions, but we'll see how microsoft deals with the ip.
I watched it with a girl i asked out in school because i was too stupid to plan anything beforehand and just told her “lets go to the movies” and just picked it at the spot cuz there didnt seem to be any other interesting movies at the time.
I was a dumb kid so I had no idea what to do and just bid her farewell and left, and never went out with her again.
In hindsight she seemed to like me enough to go out with me, but i had no idea what to do when going out with girls so i just went to the cinema with her and called it a day despite both of us obviously not caring about the movie and barely having the chance to talk as i just kind of told her bye and left. I’m still a virgin now in my mid 20’s.
The only time I went to a kinoplex with a girl we watched warcraft too. She cheated on my on the same day. I had sex but it was years later (with a 7/10 girl insted of a 3/10)
The entire movie should have been made in CGI. The orcs looked great. The real costumes for humans and Garona etc. not so much. The elves looked especially bad.
But I'm assuming it would cost a lot more.
if wow classic+ turns out to be decent, they 100% have to make a sequel. literally every wow player just wants a fuckin arthas movie. so many iconic moments they could put on film. arthas purging strat could be so kino
It was made for Duncan Jones because he's an overrated director that took himself too seriously. He couldn't pull off the tone needed to pull off a serious adaptation if that's the route he wanted.
director Zowie Bowie (er, Duncan Jones) has given interviews about the studio politics and rewrites during filming, nevermind the short 12 week preproduction. Studio Legendary pictures was sold after the film was greenlit, and sold again to universal. Notes and big rewrites were coming in every day from producers with no skin in the project, changing massive part of character and narrative. And because studio execs were changing and not taking a lead, Blizzard was calling Jones every day about all the shit that was happening because it was their billion dollar a year IP at stake. Then there was the almost two year post production, since almost everything was CGI and he had to make it all work with what he had in the can. It sounds like a real clusterfuck. Frankly turned out OK and made a profit. But he’s clear he never wants to do it again. This is, basically, why games shouldn’t be cinema IPs and why no one wants to back them.
it was pretty similar to warcraft 3 maps honestly. orc grunts are like the most physically strong base unit. humans had less resource consumption for armies and always had way more fighters vs the orcs. they did show quite a few like 3v1 where the orc kills two humans and then is put down by the remaining human
One of the actors in it was a genuine warcraft nerd, he was on the graham norton show to promote it, started talking about it enthusiastically but noticed the normies were looking at him funny, the way they usually do in these scenarios so he stopped himself and played it cool for the rest of the interview. I still remember the moment so clearly.
for greedy execs, by brain-damaged wow players that had long forgotten the heart of warcraft and were altogether incompetent. spent all their time trying to make orcs look "real" that they forgot to put effort into anything else, and the irony is the orcs ended up looking bad due to shitty scene composition and tacky CG compositing.
an audience that didn't exist
This normies avoided it cause it was warcraft, warcraft fans avoided it cause they changed the story from the games
Me
retarded WOW fags and david bowie fags
Wowfags don't even know who Durotar and Lothar are.
FOR THE HORDE
Me, by the looks of it. I never played wow and I have zero interest in it, but it was actually a cool movie. It's generic enough setting that it doesn't matter.

It was fun and the Orcs were cool, so yes.
this, and i feel the same. i just knew it was going to be orcs vs humans and was not disappointed
Unironically me too, nerd, but not a geek. Wanted to see how gay it was.
>it was gay
>Who was this made for?
Americans/morons.
shieeet
what's the difference?
>what's the difference?
You can be a moron without being an American, but not vice versa.
Actually americans didnt give a shit. It blew up in the orient though
but it has naggers
None that were integral to the plot. also azeroth canonically has black folk.
The chinese and korean audience loved it though so I guess they put their virginity above their racism
azeroth canonically is an egg
An egg for a super world soul.
the bulk of wow players are Asian, and Hispanics now, retard
wow got shut down in china though. maybe the spics are all that's left.
Rent free. Be better.

me
strong orc woman appreciators.
she better be a futa
weird sperg
looks like a shitty halloween costume
people at Comic Con have better orc costumes
Chinks
>imagine the smell
I bet they smell like a barn full of animals and poop, but that combined with heavy sweaty armpit odors
you will never share a fire with a strong orc woman.
Why was that one CGI while garona was live action
Lmao
Because the agent demanded that the actress get to show her real face. Same reason why Pedro Pascal doesn't wear the mask.
First woke movie btw, with the black humans and asiat elves.
Reminder that even WoW didn't add black elves until 2021. Still no asian elves tho.
Undeads are naggers and pandas are chinks.
they asiaticified one of the major elves recently
he used to be voiced by martin sheen. really badly.
i don't really care about the blacks. in the context of the game it doesn't really make sense as there's no defined origin for for the nagger phenotype, but whatever. they're humans. cool.
the asian elf, however, is inexcusable.
He is just from Pandaria, bro
you will never impregnate a strong orc woman.
Don't know why they went with this Warcraft 1 story that no one born after '85 is even aware of.

They also lost in the movie, with the horde killing their king and succesfully pass the portal and establish in Azeroth.
true, but the games canon ending is the total destruction of stormwind city. i wanted the ending where the orcs sit atop a smoldering pile of rubble, watching the human survivors flee in their ships to the north as sweeping orchestral music swells into the end credits.
is that the warcraft ii horde ending? i vaguely recall one of the cutscenes with a king behing beheaded
>stormwind still stands
nah

Only once did it happen.

I didnt even finish this movie. The humans were terribly casted and the scenario was dogshit cgi garbage.

It was meant for Warcraft fans. It's why David Bowie's son added the Draenei (as a callback).
The WoW audience that knows nothing about Warcraft I.
bowie jr made it to erase all of david's remaining will to live
Implying he had literally any control
Bowie could see the future through his brown eye with the big pupil. He knew what was coming and euthanized himself.

Pretty sure it made *enough* to be okay. I think the general consensus is that a sequel would be financially risky, but the potential exists.
Just imagine
