Which is sad because she could've just kept her mouth shut and maybe faced a light sentence at the worst. You'd think a mob girlfriend/wife would know what to do once the feds step in. She should've known that jeopardizing a gang would get her killed after seeing how crazy Chris is in his home life everyday.

        Anonymous

Chris time and time again stretched Tony's goodwill. He had everything handed on a platter.
        >he would be whacked in S1 if not for being Tony's favorite
        >Tony wanted him to be his 2nd, but moron was a junkie and a moron
        >getting into heroin means a death sentence in the mob, but instead Tony forced him into therapy
        >after Cleaver, Chris like a moron only confirmed Tony's suspicions instead of keeping his fricking mouth shut
        >when Tony B shot Billy, Christ came to Tony like a moronic kid happy to tell his parents that his brother did something bad because he would get into trouble for that, took his fricking Toblerone and left instead of sitting there and strategizing with him

Truth is, Chris made his own bed. He had countless occassions to prove himself to Tony and show that he wasn't moronic but with time everyone lost any respect for him and the only thing keeping him alive with any ounce of proper treatment was that he was a made guy.

Chris would have been axed a long time ago if not for Tony’s patience and care for him. Although his entire plan with Christopher was to be a man he can trust as his public face and number 2, presumably really just so Tony could take heat off himself. To me that always called into question how much he even really gave a shit about Chris beyond that potential anyway

A lot of Tony's guys had fancy homes, were making at the least 5 figures a month, but most importantly we're getting washed money back to their bank accounts. The only one who seemed poor was Paulie but that was because he was a shit earner

This. Paulie probably had more liquid assets than most of the other guys put together but he was frugal as all hell which is shown multiple times throughout the show. He liked being rich and feeling like he was powerful far more than any of the material possessions his status could afford him. That’s why he had so much pride and such a big ego, he was one of the last guys who skirted the line between the old school and new school and his position meant more to him than anything so he was content with his lot in life for the most part other than his want for more respect.

Paulie was a snitch. Tony didn't kill him only because he didn't have enough proof, which already shows some restraint and good leadership.
Georgie was moronic and was warned by Silvio and others to keep his mouth shut when Tony is upset.
The muscle guy bashing might seem as the most out of blue thing, but it was when no one was respecting him after he got shot and everyone thought he was weak. Even if he was hitting a non-made guy, so he was guaranteed to win, he gave him a solid beating as a proof to everyone that he is still physically imposing. It's a tough world where you need to look strong.

Yeah thats where the risks and rewards come in. Tony had a steady clean flow of cash over years in smaller amounts.

what exactly is stopping him from chartering a boat, and depositing all this cash in the bahamas, and then just moving abroad (switzerland?) with his international bank account away from all the hispanics and DEA? It didn't matter that there was nothing going on in that scene to make him feel undermined or weak, but he had already sensed that they had recognised his weakness after the shooting. He even tells melfi that they're all jackals. He's not in a position where he can be seen to have lost his edge. The fact that he takes his rings off, shows that he really didn't want to hurt muscles marinara, just enough to get his point across. Then he even gives him some money later.

As long as you weren't too stupid, greedy, or annoying and could stand the occasional ball breaking without taking it personally like a b***h, Tony would have no problem with you and would let you do your own thing. Tony's problem is that he was surrounded by incompetents, drug addicts, idiots, and power grabbers. The people in the crew who didn't have any of those problems like Patsy or Silvio (outside of that one time) got along perfectly fine without any conflict.

Waltuh is a catty little thin skinned b***h who has a superiority complex because he actually knows his trade but also has zero common sense when it comes to anything else and no interpersonal skills so he will eventually find problems to cause with you even if it's because you started to become competent and made him feel less needed than he feels he should be.

Nearly everyone Walt worked with died (sometimes by Walt), got enslaved by neo nazis and had their qt goth gf od (bc of Walt), or had to spend years on the run and then spend life in prison. The only exceptions I can think of are Badger (or was it Otter?) and that really skinny Mexican guy.

With Tony you could at least get a fairly stable low level position. Not perfect in the long term of course bc there’s a decent chance you’ll get hurt/killed in some mob related fight/shootout or get entangled by the FBI and you have to choose between spending decades in prison or becoming a rat and getting killed by Tony, but odds are much better and most of the guys in Tony’s employ have gotten by at least alive and out of prison, for the most part, for decades.

    Tony
Implying your Italian and could get made eventually
    >start off working for a crew, going around making collections or whatever shenanigans
    >invest any money you have in something simple like vending machines giving you a steady income and a steady kick up the ladder
    >just keep growing bigger and bigger with this
    >find another more level headed guy who's at your level and start your own crew
    >buy a front buisness like big pussy and the mechanic shop
    >that, plus vending machienes and other legal schemes will give enough income for you to keep giving steady money to Tony, not draw too much heat.
    >everynow and then you'll need to be brutal to some random junkies or drug dealers to let others know you are ruthless, give 90% of those earnings to Tony.
Basically be loyal, dont compete with anyone for power or positions let them have it, keep them happy. don't be an butthole, and give good steady income to your higher ups and you'll be fine. Also build your house like a fortress, keep fit, and train regularly with firearms. Hell even join the national guard to get training, and tell the guys it makes you look like a better citizen.

And if I do get killed, I can be useful enough to Walt and Gus that I know my family is taken care of and my killer gets crucified. In Tony's gang, if one of his closer friends goes full guido moron and shoots me dead in a parking lot, Tony's just going to help cover my death up.

Walt simply because the chance of actually striking it rich seems higher. The Sopranos shows us a world of organized crime in rapid decline. The money is drying is up and the Feds are increasingly intense in their war against the mob. Members at all levels are increasingly ratting out to the Feds and it just seems like the walls are caving in from all sides. Opportunities to make a name for yourself seem very hard to come by.
There’s a good chance you get Gale’d under Walt, but we see many characters make large fortunes in very short periods of time. The challenge is to actually make it out and away from Walt. Jesse and Saul were the only two who did.

Having worked for someone like that (although not in criminal enterprise, granted) I can say its always a fight to stay on their good side and they can turn on a dime despite your best efforts. a lot more money to be made with walt, smaller crew to frick up or to have to pay, you can just work with him for a year or 2 and retire with a couple millions to another state or country so you won't get dragged into some gang or police problems.
