They tried in the 90's, they wanted to do pitch it as "Power Rangers for girls" with live action teen sitcom style segments and animated action segments. It did not get pass the pilot and since then no other serious attempt has been made.
Speed Racer was fun and very creative visually. But the shit flinging scene should've been cut.
Ghost On The Shell film was mediocre but it could've been much much worse. I was surprised by the cast, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Anamaria Marinca? Some surprising choices for a Hollywood blockbuster. I liked that. Visually it was also occasionally cool, but not without some bad green screen moments. Other adaptations in the picture are indeed rancid excrement. Especially the Dragon Ball one. The Netflix Cowboy Bebop was at least memeable.
