      >Patrice
I don't get why people say this. I'm a massive O&A fan and think Patrice is great on it but as far as stand-up comedy goes, he's just a good comedian at best. He's had ONE solid special which isn't even one of the best specials I've seen and there's not that much other footage of him doing stand-up aside from bootlegs you can find on youtube, most of which are just okay at best. I ain't trying to disrespect the man since I love the guy and I do think he's hilarious, but the people who think he's the best ever sounds pretty delusional to me. It's the kind of opinion I hear and think the person only listens to O&A and doesn't actually listen to much comedy at all.

I feel that way about people who say that about certain podcast comedians. I have seen dorks on internet swear Nick Mullen is this comedy genius because of his podcasts and yet his comedy on stage is legitimately not good at all. Anyone who's seen his recent comedy album knows what I'm talking about. Same with Tim Dillon. How can these guys be great comedians and then put out flops?

I get your point but the question wasn't: who is the best comedian at doing stand up? I take the question to mean the all around best. And either way me, the best comedian is the one who gets the most laughs out of me. Many write better jokes, has a more refined act, and so on, but to me Patrice might be the funniest, all things considered. Bill Burr has the funniest bit though, the old man face.

Patrice wasn't even the funniest one on Opie and Anthony. Anthony, Jimmy, and Collin were all just as funny if not funnier than Patrice. It's especially impressive for Anthony and Jimmy who had to be funny for 5 hours every single day. Patrice would just show up sometimes which was much easier to do.

Louis CK, and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.

Louis would be better if he didn't try putting out a special every single year for a period of time like he is George Carlin or something. Instead of 5 decent specials in the span of 5 or 6 years, he could have put out 2 GOAT specials with all the best shit he worked on.

        Anonymous

Louis was heavily influenced by Carlin. There is a video of him on youtube of him speaking at an event after Carlin's death. He talks about this very thing and how Carlin constantly worked on new material and how he was inspired to do that same

    Joe List
    Shane Gillis
    and Mark Normand.

In terms of raw talent, probably Patrice.

In terms of total laughs delivered worldwide, probably Larry David/Seinfeld.

Louis C.K. would probably be best all-around comic.

people forget but Woody Allen is one of the most influential comedians ever. think about it, the guy was an insanely talented stand-up comedian and joke writer who helped shaped an entire generation of comedians, and then went on to become one of the greatest directors of ALL TIME mainly doing comedy films. He conquered two different forms of entertainment. Who else can say they've done that?

    >Lenny Bruce
    hasn't aged well
    >Carlin
still pretty damn funny at times. Later stuff hasn't aged as well
    >Stanhope
truly a genius who does not give a frick about anything and has always put out bangers
    >Chappelle
use to be brilliant but hasn't put out a truly great special in 20 years
    >Woody
influential and a great comic but didn't stick with it long enough to be the best
    >Dice
way funnier than people give him credit for. People just remember the poems and how aggressively offensive he was but he told lots of funny jokes too. He was the first superstar comedian. First one to sell out Madison Square Garden.
    >Norm
Amazing comedian. His comedy specials never did his stand-up justice.
    >Pryor
was great in the 70's. fell off when his health declined.
    >Rickles
funny roaster but a lot of his jokes never made much sense to me.
    >Patrice
better on radio but still a funny comedian
    >Kinison
overrated hack. Put out one thing that people liked which was just hack shit and never did anything anyone liked ever again.
    >George Burns
funny for an old school vaudeville type comedian. Should do more research on him
    >Attell
probably the most respected living comedian. Has only ever put out great comedy specials while being loved by everyone who's worth a shit
    >Klein
    a funnier israelite than Seinfeld
    >Gottfried
Thought he was a bit of a hack when listening to his stuff from the 80's but as he grew older and started telling dirty jokes on stage, that's when I began to really enjoy him. Hilarious on the radio as well.
    >Burr
funny but a bit overrated if you ask me. The last thing he did wasn't anything special
    >Louis
consistent and influential. Never really fell off.
    >Wright
King of deadpan one liners. Basically a better version of Hedberg but came first and deadpan like I said
    >Murphy
put out two bangers 40 years ago and retired as a legend. Became a hugely successful actor.
    >Dangerfield
The best at what he does. No one did it better.

      >Diaz
probably shouldn't be on a list of "best comedian" but he is funny and a great speaker
      >Hedberg
great one liners. He would be huge right now if he hadn't passed
      >Norton
like Patrice, he's better on the radio but still funny if you see him live. I'll give him credit though for being one of the quickest off-the-cuff comedians I've ever seen.
      >Quinn
influenced most NY comedians. respected, funny as hell, and somehow made history and politics humorous
