I honestly believe they're all the best. Each one perfectly encapsulates the era of the comics in which they were made, or a reflection of the world as it was.
Reeve
Reeve
I've only watched Reeve, Cain, Routh, Welling, and Cavill.
Gonna go with Christopher Reeve.
Dean Cain is the worst. lmao just look at that ugly goombah
I liked the way he portrayed Superman, it was in some ways more in line with Golden Age and Radio Superman. He got done with villains’ shit easily and wasn’t afraid to check them quick. He took the death/harm of innocent people personally and made that clear.

I liked it when Superman’s a bit of an butthole. I wish they’ll go back to that.
It’s an aspect of the radio show I loved. He believed in people’s freedoms so much that he wasn’t scared to remind his enemies that they ain’t shit. Even if he wasn’t going to go through with a threat, he made sure the villain didn’t know that.
So what changed? I heard he rebooted with another personality. I enjoyed Superman in War, DCAU, and his character in DC hero girls. I wish DC would tap into that a bit more into that.
>So what changed?
The times. We’re talking 1940-1950 era, where the heroes were idols for an era full of men and women in countries industrialized for war and in rough conditions. The idea of being “kind” wasn’t the same as it is now. Typically a very A type attitude was more expected. Hell, look at The Shadow, one of the biggest pulps and radio shows of all time. He was a crusader in both, but in both mediums he would pull stunts that would launch a thousand angry Tweets now. Same goes with other popular heroes of that era like The Spider, The Phantom, and pre-Robin Batman.
Reeve, but Cavill got robbed of any opportunity to be a great Superman.
He's no longer a dude from Kansas and a symbol of that disgusting 20th century American spirit. He's a symbol for peace, love, and global cooperation. He is a hero for everyone, not for the morons living in flyover states that don't do anything but hold my country back.
>disgusting 20th century American spirit
It was anything but disgusting, but it was corrupted.
Hey buddy that's not very super of you to go insulting my state
I liked later justice league superman who was skeptical and paranoid. He had to be checked by other members and was seconds from flying off the handle at any time when conflict arose. It's a good late stage depiction of the blue boyscout, tired of being used by all sides in the name of 'justice'.
I thought he was great imo. He's my favorite because of that and other reasons unrelated.
Only the final 2 justice league seasons had the balls to write man of steel as being 'over it, but if you look at real life for normal folks, we all lose our optimism and 'get over life, etc. We all get tired of our work situations, wageslavery, middle management or micromanagement and workplace politics.
My favorite 3d super was reeve, Cahill didn't have enough time in 4 movies to cook and become his own character.
He looks better than the CW guy who's missing from the picture.
I think they’ve all been at least serviceable. But for me, best Superman is still Christopher Reeve. “General, would you care to step outside” was peak Superman. No scene or delivery nailed the character better.
Christopher Reeve.
Cavill looks the best but Zack's direction and script was dogshit for him
So I'll go with Reeve since he had 1 1/2 good movies
Reeve by a huge margin.
Routh did a decent job, and Cavill would have been good if he had more to work with and had been able/allowed to portray Clark and Superman as different people.
