that joke was actually moronic and it was written out of pure seethe

      "they took plenty from us"

stfu you took everything from the simpsons, nothing is original

Family Guy will NEVER admit it is comparable to another cartoon.
They DESPERATELY want to occupy the same spot as live action shows, they want live action stars to do cameos, and Seth MacFarlane desperately wants to be in the Live Action Hollywood industry.

Alex Hirsch, Rebecca Sugar, Justin Roiland, Brad Neely, Doc Hammer, Mike Judge?
These are ""Cartoon people"" and Seth HATES, HATES, HATES to be lumped up with them for even one second.

I forgot to include in the OP: They have a history of doing this too. Bob's Burgers, Simpsons, all those shows they lampooned in the Emmy bait episode. It goes beyond light ribbing, it reeks of insecurity.

      >"they took plenty from us"
      Like what?

bro exactly, i couldnt think of ONE thing rick and morty took from family guy

Time/space travel and multiverse adventures, its literally the plot of the epiosde you losers

Did pre-revival family guy have gore? Either way it's more like superjail then family guy; quantity over quality.
          >mostly-mediocre animation and character design
I'd argue that R&M's animation is better then family guy; it's still tweened shit but it's a lot more cinematic and varied with it's locations & with lots of action scenes, while FG characters just kinda stand in one place and talk.

The idea is that Rick and Morty share the same dynamic that Stewie and Brian have. Smart guy takes dumb guy on wacky space adventures, only Rick and Morty deal with the multiverse while Stewie and Brian usually just time travel. But what's actually happening here is that both dynamics were inspired by Back to the Future so they seem similar enough for Family Guy to think Rick and Morty is ripping them off.

Rick and Morty has its issues but I never thought "wow this is derivative of Family Guy". It honestly baffles me how that connection was really made. I guess they are saying Rick And Morty plots are derived from Brian and Stewie plots? Meanwhile early Family Guy feels like an edgy fusion of Simpsons and the Critic.

Remember da time Family guy had an extended joke where Quagmire murders every member of the Simpsons family and rapes Marge and Seth McFarlane was on the director’s commentary complaining about how the Simpsons can make fun of Family Guy but Family Guy can’t make fun of the Simpsons

I'm waiting for the day they rib on Genndy. This place will go nuclear.

Honestly, I doubt that's true anymore. At this point Seth is clearly back in the saddle for dictating what episodes are about, even if he's not behind every last joke.
