Why are helicopter pilots so disrespected in media?

Why are helicopter pilots so disrespected in media?
You'll have the main character going through an entire mid life crisis after shooting someone, but the death of helicopter pilots is just glossed over. It's like they're not even human.

my father was a navy helicopter mechanic and he never got in one after he learned how they worked, those things are deathtraps

how do they work? what did he learn?

Why? How is it different from a plane?

they're constantly trying to shake themselves apart and even if one little thing breaks, the whole thing is fricked with no recourse but to crater into the ground at terminal velocity
if something breaks on a plane, you can at least glide unpowered, or you have one or more engines to pick up the slack

tbf he slammed into the side of a mountain because the fog was so thick the pilot couldn't see 10 meters in front of him

think the dude wanted to make a conference that day and a train would've been too slow

Not that dude but they just generate enough downside force to lift and are kept stable by the tiny prop in the tail, it's like using a bunch of pressure washers to levitate, any slight deviation from any reason and you'll fall out of the sky like a potato sack

They stay afloat in the air by the sound the helicopter makes.

based knower, jet engines actually work the same way (that's why they're so damn loud)

A plane flies, a helicopter lifts itself. A plane can fly without propulsion (glider) while a helicopter can't.

Planes can glide and pretty much fly themselves, helicopters require a competent pilot to not just fall out of the sky.

Lobby guard or helicopter pilot. Which one is more deadly job in cinema universe?

Fighter pilot depending on the type of movie. They are 99.9% guaranteed to die the moment they appear on-screen.
      >shoot at the target
      >do no damage
      >die

even if they don't die, ejecting apparently fricks up your spine for life and you can't fly anymore after like 2 ejections or else your spinal column will turn into dust

That's only in kaiju movies when they try to fight Godzilla or something, normally fighter pilots do fine. There's Top Gun obviously, but also think of Will Smith in Independence Day.

You mean the movie that ends with hundreds of fighter jets and their pilote dying and one famously doing a kamikaze run to win?

I was watching Terminator Salvation earlier and I thought about this exact thing. There's a scene where Connor's helicopter drags into a body of water and his plot armor saves him from cyber snakes while the pilot is dragged in and turned into a pool of blood.
