Modern action heroines are hilarious caricatures. They must at all times be "badass" and many of these movies make it a point of showing the viewer just how badass this character is and how completely superior she is to any and all men, even going so far as showing her beat the shit out of a dude that obviously could punch her through a wall. While I could suspend my disbelief for a capeshit flick, the people making those movies literally act like this carries over to real life as well and that these shit flicks are some powerful empowerment statements that will make this happen in real life as well. and its only because of oppression and patriarchy that it doesn't.
