    >Cyborgs
    >City lighs
    >Corporations bad
    >Criminals good
    It's a very limited genre

That pretty much sums it up. The genre is all glitz and glamour without substance.

Like this guy said, it's a niche genre and most just rip off BR. I thought Crimes of the Future that came out this year was a pretty good cyberpunk addition.
      >it's not cyberpu-
It's got noir tropes, high tech low life, and a grimy city aesthetic

Based. That movie was like fresh air compared to all the generic movies of this year

What's worse k's that cyberpunk detective noir is even more niche. Two absolute kino things blended together to make mega kino.

Wish there was more of it. Imagine Chinatown and Blade Runner had a baby.

        >Imagine Chinatown and Blade Runner had a baby.
Rick and Morty already did cyborg incest babies.

Bladerunner is already noir, why would it need to be combined with Chinatown

To help incest become more mainstream.

because the genre got hijacked and co-opted by losers who only see it as an vehicle to force their shitty memes about equality and whatever other gay shit they have stuck up their ass
people who larp as cyberpunk or whatever but rushed right out to get vaccinated, and openly advocate for other obvious corporate shit, for instance

Because historically it has been a pretty niche genre for nerds only, far behind sci-fi or fantasy. Only now it seems to be taking off thanks to the normalization of nerd culture and like said , it's pozzed contradicting garbage. Though that's not different from any other modern garbage.

        Anonymous

Yeah nerds don't have the testosterone to gatekeep their own things that's why the cultural takeover was so swift in the early 10s when the stuff became cool.

          Anonymous

It is nerds the ones who pushed for making their shit more popular. The ones who complain about gatekeeping are the minority, most nerds are happy to see their favorite things has more fans, at least until said thing is ruined.

What I mean is they let their interest get perverted in a number of ways usually it starts with women. We've seen the pictures of Marvel's hiring practices, tell me these aren't weak willed men intoxicated with pussy.

I honestly have no idea. I was gonna say that you need a high budget for it, but not any higher than you do for a regular sci-fi movie and those still get made. Hell you need less for cyberpunk since you can just use real mundane buildings for a lot of it.

The ones that were made didn't do well enough to justify making more even back when the idea was more popular.

i unironically wouldn't mind it if Cyberpunk became the zombie genre of 2020's. Lets get a Neuromancer film adaptation, lets get a AAA budget Shadowrun videogame, lets have more Robocop and Judge Dredd.
Sure some of them will get snagged and ruined by the wokesters, but I'm sure a few will actually be good.

Isn't there a Judge Dredd series in the works or is it destined to go the way of the They Live series that was in the works?

I don't know the imdb looks dead, the only episode is a pilot from 2019.

Your Neuromancer adaptation will be rated PG-13 and will have someone like Tom Holland in the leading role.

Nah, they'll give it to Robert Downey Jr and Morfydd Clark.

Picrel is a good movie but it's not a cyberpunk movie. Dolf Lundgren was great as the Street preacher.

Correct, it is the quintessential cyberpunk movie rather than just a cyberpunk movie.

Cyberpunk is less a genre and more a theme. Its a backdrop, that you could set any genre in (romance, drama, comedy, action, thriller...).
The themes core elements are 'hi tec low life' meaning world changing technical (and economic) changes with struggeling people and cultures. Cyberpunk is neonlights, steampunk is gaslights, but its the same core theme.
The reason we dont see this theme more often is because it for a long time did not reflect normies life. The same reason we dont see many wild west themed movies. But this is increasing now. Be prepared to see way more cyberpunk themed movies in the next 20 years.
