Why are they making a sequel?

It's just unnecessary, the first one ended perfectly. Is this going to the new Hangover where the sequels are shittier?

If Phoenix is on board then who cares?

Söys care. I have no idea why they pick random things and then rally against it for no reason. You'd think a movie that talks about mental health is something they'd like.

        >You'd think a movie that talks about mental health is something they'd like.
They simply hate white men so much that a movie entirely focused on class and mental health is branded an "alt-right incel movie." Meanwhile, they love Parasite, which came out the same year and had a very similar theme.

I have enough faith in the artistic integrity of both the director and Joaquin to know what they are doing, they won't frick it up

Liked the first two Hangovers. I don't give a frick if they're dumb. I liked the friendship between the three main characters and that scene where Alan started singing they were best friends was pretty good. I disliked the third one.

      >Because if Arthur could get a gf
He doesn't. He imagined her out of maximal incel status. Also, this Joker doesn't exist in the same universe as that Harley Quinn. He doesn't even exist in the same universe as The Batman. The DC movie universe is fricked.

it made a billion dollarinos, that's the only reason why. this is the curse of 'alternative universe' one-offs, when they are too successful they birth their own timelines and chronologies and universes and before you know it it's it's own franchise.

    fricking awful.

I'm curious what a sequel could be unless it's a tie in to the next Pattinson Bats movies somehow. Interesting a movie as Joker is, Fleck is clearly not the Batman villain The Joker. But who knows, maybe someone will try to write a clusterfrick where they shoehorn that in.

The first one was also a huge hit that made a billion dollars. Which is rare for DC, so they are going to make a sequel

What does Folie a Deux mean?

      Anonymous

It's a mental illness where two people, most of times from the same family, start a codependent relationship, where one person makes the other believe they have the same psychosis, to the point they become a copycat of each other. Basically stockholm syndrome but more fricked up. When these two people get separated they could act with violence to stop it.

Both DC and Marvel surprisingly don't have that many iconic characters and building them up takes a lot of effort. So you just do Batman and Spiderman reboots to make money or try to build up a universe. DC failed at building a universe, so it's back to Batman reboot and Joker can get away with a sequel or two since it was a massive hit. And Sony capeshit is just riding on the memes at this point.

Joker is not real. He's whatever the writer wants him to be. He's not even a character at this point, just like Batman. Comics are not real stories, they're power fantasies.

If they knew what they were doing they would do One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest in Arkham with all of the other Rogues Gallery. Poison Ivey would be an eco-terrorist, Penguin could be a gangster who has a mental illness that made him think he's a Penguin, Two Face can just be as is.

Sometimes while I drink alone at night, I imagine for hours I have frens and a japanese girlfriend. Am I going crazy like the joker? I was drinking outside today, alone, and on my way home I saw a bunch of white girls hanging around with some muslim guys with broccoli hair. I stood in front of them, looking at them. I felt like destroying them. They started insulting me, I spit and left. Am I going full schizo?? (I obviously live in Europe)

    >the Joker 2 opens up during the final scene of Joker
    >as the credits roll, the camera pans back to reveal it's the red carpet premier of the movie in our world
    >camera zooms in on Joaquin Phoenix, who is receiving a standing ovation
    >throughout the course of the movie, Phoenix is constantly feeling the pressure from both pearl clutching anti-gun activists and far right incel groups hounding him to support their cause
    >the pressure begins to set in as the lines between film and reality blur more
    >Phoenix's own reflection becomes him in full Joker makeup at the halfway point
    >Joaquin is also feeling professionally type casted, finding himself losing roles due to him being too closely associated with the titular character
    >Development on the sequel begins, a draft script detailing a plot revolving around a school shooting, public outraged
    >At home, his reflection twists into that of past film depictions of the Joker
    >Jared Leto is first and the lamest
    >Mark Hamill voice cameo after Phoenix shatters a mirror
    >Jack Nicholson reprises his role and refers to the Heath Ledger Joker as "the one who got away", that the actor's insomnia and drug abuse was caused by harassment of former Jokers
    >He casually drops an N bomb winks at the camera, a reference to the opening monologue from the Departed
    >Eventually Phoenix is driven to the point of madness, dons full makeup, and drives to an elementary school to committ.a mass shooting
    >The scene, set design, and world constantly shift from shot to shot between our reality and being shot 1:1 with how the Joker was
    >Joaquin points a loaded gun in the mouth of a girl and recreates the rant from the end of the first Joker, although horribly out of context
    >Graphically blows her fricking brains out in a painfully detailed close up shot
    >Film ends in the exact same way as the original, Joaquin is taken into police custody but freed by a mob of supporters
I've never seen the original but I hope I did the source material justice.
