Well there you have it, an objective answer that provides no room for debate.
You're not gonna find a different angle to keep your b***hing here anon. Kryptonians have a deep history of warlords and military expansion, one of the most famous Superman villain is a general of Krypton.
In this shitty show they do, yes. In every other iconic Superman story, no.

Hahaha well I didn’t write that post so keep digging that hole! I’m just trying to get on the expert level of Superman knowledge that the writers of MAWS have by reading the iconic story they are referencing when they have Kal be a weapon for a race of conquering warlords. Please help me get on their level!

>"Shut the frick up, Bobo." >"...No."
You tell em, Boco.
Kryptonians having a warmonger past before going reclusive is a +40 years old idea, afair is older than X-men mutants having the X-Gene or Thor not being Donald Blake
Because DC and Marvel have long established multiverses for the express purpose of doing different things on each of them.
On one Earth, Krypton blew up because of natural disasters. On another, Braniac did it.
On one Earth, Kryptonians are a bunch of scientists. On another, there are different castes and warriors are one of them. Yet on another, they're all a bunch of warmongers and Jor is some weird outlier.
On one Earth, Kyrptonians breed by fricking. On another Earth, Kryptonians have weird fricking Matrix pods or some shit.
On one Earth, Krypton is made up of a bunch of crystals, on another it's a bunch of barren wasteland, on another it's verdant and Earth like.
None of this is new. The entire point of infinite Earths is the freedom to do whatever the frick you want. Yeah, you can sit there and bemoan this because it's got pronouns and everyone gets their powers from technology and Jimmy is Black. But it's no different than the universe where Superman's ship landed in Russia, or the universe where Clark lands in England and grows up to be a blacksmith who forges Excalibur out of his pod, or the universe where baby Superman dies on impact with the Earth and a Luthor finds him and turns the dead baby into a Kryptonian Frankenstein's monster. Or hell, even the universe where Superman just fights off the aliens from War of the Worlds.
I actually kind of like it, and it's not like it's the first time they were portrayed as a conquering empire instead of literal neet scientists who don't even frick.
>also it's fricking moronic because [THING THATS NOT IN THE SHOW]
Surely you're watching the thing you're b***hing about, right anon? you're not just rage baiting for the dopamine rush now, are you?
It certainly causes more immediate friction for Clark.
It also makes Clark and Lois have the military background in common.
So their struggles are more similar for the purposes of the show, allowing for easy parallels.
You obviously need to rethink all Kryptonian characters in their motivation and characterization because they are now in a whole new context.
But it adds a layer of complication to the xenophobia of Lex Luthor if he has a point.
I still pretend in my head that Krypton is a future Earth, something that Siegel and Shuster had kicked around as an origin for Superman (they didn't go through with it). However, the idea was reused for Red Son decades later and in Astro City's take on Superman in the form of the Samaritan.
Krypton may not literally be Earth, but in spirit it functions as the "ideal" Earth society, a peaceful and brilliant eutopia destroyed by either neglect, hubris, nature, or in the case of Brainiac (in continuities where he's a creation of Krypton), technology run amok. And this interpretation of Krypton as a figuratively "perfect" Earth fits when you considered the cultural American zeitgeist towards science, the government, nationalism,at the time, etc. Now we live in times where we know the truth about how our nations operate, for better or worse. Think about how many other contemporary space settings end up being crapsacks too. There may be good or positive aspects to them, but they're built on evil and exploitation.
Krypton being imperialist/colonialist could work, but I don't think a single author has truly nailed it because Krypton's basic purpose is to serve as a plot device for Superman's origins. He came from an alien planet and he's the only one (well, depending on the writer) of his people on Earth. He can't go back no matter how hard he tries. Krypton is gone. The nature of Superman's status quo also really prevents anything from being done with Krypton or other Kryptonians since it all gets shackled to the same neverending capeshit cops and robbers game.
>I still pretend in my head that Krypton is a future Earth
i also like that theory, because it makes Clark more man than alien and he would be a literal "man of tomorrow"
Were they all warriors or was Kara just raised in a propagandized bubble. Is the empire a critique of forever wars that underly the political structures of our own Conservatism and Neo Liberalism instead of making Krypton’s end the result of ignored science which hits too close now to our own experiences with the pushback against climate science and the more immediate and lethal cultural problems we had around a fricking plague.
We have seen multiple iterations of Krypton have stratified caste systems with Warrior and Science being amongst the most repeated in the meme. Brainiac or whatever AI runs this faded ghost of an Armada needs a soldier to prop up as part of their goal, lest the conquest isn’t for a dead empire but a subverted vanguard of that which destroyed the Kryptonian Empire which would obviously the forces of Apokolips beneath the heel of the dreaded Darkseid.
Nice effort posts but it's just a dbz ripoff.
Also it's a kids show bringing up politics gives the rest of us the ick.
>Kryptonians are shown as a war-mongering race >Thus they take over worlds >Thus they have many "homes" to live on >Somehow "Krypton Blows Up" and "No More Kryptonians" somehow still applies.
They ran into someone capable of stopping them. That's what happens with warrior cultures, they think they're all hot shit until they encounter a culture that is bigger than them, which then proceeds to slap them so hard that their warrior ways cease to exist.
that what gets me, i was believing the show was making it so that people like Waller, Lane and Lex were just fearing what they didn't understand, but more and more info comes out and now their xenophobia is being more and more justified.
It bothers me that the anti-Superman faction is just being blatantly racist, and the pro-superman side's only response is "damn, can't deny that" or "he's a model minority." That, and the main anti spokesman is an arms dealer telling people they should buy more arms, and no one comments on that.
They're ripping off Planet Vegeta and Goku with this not understand that Goku doesn't care about Planet Vegeta or Bardock or the Saiyan race. So it doesn't matter that they were portrayed as a evil.
Superman does care about Krypton, Jor-El, and Kryptonians, why the frick would he when they're nothing but savage tyrant warriors?
Were they all warriors or was Kara just raised in a propagandized bubble. Thanks. Not an actually homie but I do appreciate women that never shaved their bushes. It's just makes them a lot sexier and are build to dom human men imo.
Yeah I don't like it either, the fans of the show are pretty viscous and probably brown like most DC fans but I only give General Zod pass because well he's a General. Supergirl being like that doesn't rub me the right way but she is a hothead in most of her stories so that's obviously what they're building up to
SHE SHOULD HAVE COME BACK AND GOTTEN THE BROLY TRANSFORMATION INSTEAD OF THAT OTHER b***h I DON'T CARE IF IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE MY SOUL UNDERSTANDS ENOUGH

So Jerry and Joe had a time machine? In the 1930s, when they created a planet and people?
Based on stories they read about Planet 4032-877 in the late 80s and 90s, almost an entire adult life then even if you survived the first, much less the second global conflict.
And they use their time machine for copyright theft?
> So Jerry and Joe had a time machine? In the 1930s, when they created a planet and people?
I didn't know they were the ones writing the cartoon "My Adventures With Superman"
A guy named Yuliban created a fan verse a while ago and distilled Saiyans back to what they used to be for it and ran with them being barbarians
At least that's what I got out of it
They want to reverse-uno DragonBall Z by turning Kryptonians into Saiyan warriors
But they forgot 95% of the shit that made Saiyans appealing so instead they're making Kryptonians discount Viltrumites
I actually like the glimpses of the Saiyan race we got in the Super Boly movie, they're still clearly warriors but they have that space Merc feel to them that reminds you that they've had a while to adapt to being a space faring race with how many of them rely on blasters and can fly around ships and etc etc. they gave me kind of a star wars mercenary vibe, like mandolorians but without the tradition heavy focus.
That being said, a race of superpowered space Conans is still based as frick.
This and the Sento Saiyans has me like > as long as they keep the Dragon Ball AF homosexualry segregated and squashed, Shueisha could take up some fan ideas to build the worldbuilding better
Just have to keep the Mexicans and super saiyan 10 spam out of it
FWIW Yaban-verse doesn't change Saiyans back, the Yaban are a separate subspecies like the Sento-Saiyans that Yuli-Ban originally meant to be its own entirely original species ripping off the Saiyans before he put them back into DBZ as a rival species to the regular Saiyans. He's sometimes on /r/Ningen and a Discord I'm on, but he hasn't much pushed them the same way as bahnloopi does the Sento-Saiyans. A shame because the Yaban seem way more badass and fleshed out.
https://i.imgur.com/e8RReXw.jpeg
Why are they portraying the Kryptonians as a warrior culture?
"Kryptonians as fake Saiyans"
Why does this sound lame and gay? Weren't there actual warrior races in the DC universe?
>we're stuck with U6 soíyans forever
I loved Toriyama and hope he's banging hookers in Other World now, but thank frick he's finally forced to stop working on DB. Wish he didn't have to die just for that to happen though.
No joke, the last good thing he brought to DB was Battle of Gods. And before that, he was already so spent that he ought to have stopped with Great Saiyaman. TFSgays broken by GT convinced themselves the man could do no wrong, and as a result he gave us dreck like Dragon Ball Minus.
People say "Daima will be the last good DB show because Toriyama worked on it" and here I am thinking it's going to be underwhelming for that exact same reason.
It's sad because Super didn't even address any of the problems people had with the end of Z and GT. It just kind of ignored them and created new problems.
A guy named Yuliban created a fan verse a while ago and distilled Saiyans back to what they used to be for it and ran with them being barbarians
At least that's what I got out of it
Woulda been pretty cool if Toriyama had heard about this before his death.
Based image. I never thought much about it before now, but it's true that Saiyans scratch an itch that it doesn't feel many have tried to scratch. They're like if you crossed Kryptonians, Khorne, Klingons, Mandalorians, Conan the barbarian, Dothraki, werewolves, Sun Wukong, Vikings, Spartans, Samurai, and orcs, and yet all Dragonball cares about these days is what color they dye their hair. If someone really did run with that for an actual fantasy worldbuilding story without getting lost in the glowing hair, they'd be able to make something real interesting.
Jealous of how successful DBZ got with kids
Kids buy capeshit but they don't go apeshit for capeshit
Meanwhile Goku vs Jiren nearly caused WW3 and had South America chanting in a hypnotic trance
Burgers are jealous that DBZ causes genuine emotions rather than hollow sõyboy gaping mouth consoooming so they're trying to mimic DBZ to steal some of its thunder
Give it a year or two and we'll have a Superman show that goes full DBZ with rocks rising and screaming and Superman having some super form, and Superboy having a rage mode
>Kryptonians are a warmongering empire >implying they conquered other worlds >somehow they never discovered yellow suns make them gods >somehow blowing up one planet was enough to wipe how a species spanning multiple systems
?????
>somehow they never discovered yellow suns make them gods
We see a yellow sun turn red before exploding in a flashback.
So if anything, it seems that Kryptonians here had a yellow sun at first, which probably helped kick off the space empire.
And they they ran into (probably) Darkseid.
Because the show is fundamentally about the interpersonal drama involved in Superman and Lois' relationship, and having Superman struggle with family issues is an obvious source of interpersonal relationship drama. Also why Sam Lane is so prominent in this show so far, when he's been kinda ignored most of the time in the comics and other adaptions.
Only just got around to watching the new ep and one thing is bothering me:
I coulda sworn this guy said he had a wife in his first appearance. The line really stuck out because he seemed designed for causing relationship drama between Lois and Clark, but then he says he’s in a relationship and that’s instantly waved away. Did his marriage dissolve off screen? I woulda thought the show would quickly mention that just to clarify when he is presented as a bachelor, but I didn’t catch it. Or am I just totally crazy and remembering wrong?
Its Hank Henshaw. His wife is introduced to gain self destructive Super Powers and Die after an ill fated space flight in direct parody of the Fantastic Four.
Hank himself will become a consciousness stretched between machines until the becomes Cyborg Superman. Wishing to tarnish Superman's legacy for failing to save his wife and friends from his own hubris and ultimately finding he is immortal and only wants a death that will not come no matter what he does.
Because they were at one point then the scholars took over. I remember there was a story about a Kryptonian who was a lab assistant that was nostalgic for the warrior era. His boss was building a time machine so this guy went on a killing spree to grab up gadgets to help his favorite warlord only the machine malfunctioned and dumped him in space in the future after Krypton exploded. The council band time travel after that cause the machine has a retrieval function that showed the time traveller was dead. Instead of launching a full investigation which would have revealed Krypton's future destruction they just assumed time travel is deadly and left it at that.
Because they are all degenerate savages.
so Brainiac has a justification to blow them all up
Man I hate lazy writing
Cuz the Post Crisis comics did.
Post Crisis Kryptonians were sterile sheltered scientists, not planet conquering warlords moron

Empire Krypton just makes no sense.
Try telling that to the showrunners or writers
They ran into someone capable of stopping them. That's what happens with warrior cultures, they think they're all hot shit until they encounter a culture that is bigger than them, which then proceeds to slap them so hard that their warrior ways cease to exist.
When the writers frick up so hard they make Lex Luthor 100% in the right.
Only homosexuals like le evil empire Kryptonians.
that what gets me, i was believing the show was making it so that people like Waller, Lane and Lex were just fearing what they didn't understand, but more and more info comes out and now their xenophobia is being more and more justified.
When they don't write them as boogeymen, their points start making a little too much sense...
Waller was always the only based glowie.
It bothers me that the anti-Superman faction is just being blatantly racist, and the pro-superman side's only response is "damn, can't deny that" or "he's a model minority." That, and the main anti spokesman is an arms dealer telling people they should buy more arms, and no one comments on that.
Why does it bother you? Were you really expecting something else from modern western writing?
Lex is right. There's no comeuppance if Superman decides not to be good.
>Lex Luthor 100% in the right

Superman has always been the exception. Most Kryptonians are apathetic at best.
They're ripping off Planet Vegeta and Goku with this not understand that Goku doesn't care about Planet Vegeta or Bardock or the Saiyan race. So it doesn't matter that they were portrayed as a evil.

Would, but It's even scarier when you see sexy female warriors like them, who are able of turning themselves into a kaiju size beasts as well.

They want to reverse-uno DragonBall Z by turning Kryptonians into Saiyan warriors
But they forgot 95% of the shit that made Saiyans appealing so instead they're making Kryptonians discount Viltrumites
What's a Yaban?
A guy named Yuliban created a fan verse a while ago and distilled Saiyans back to what they used to be for it and ran with them being barbarians
At least that's what I got out of it
I actually like the glimpses of the Saiyan race we got in the Super Boly movie, they're still clearly warriors but they have that space Merc feel to them that reminds you that they've had a while to adapt to being a space faring race with how many of them rely on blasters and can fly around ships and etc etc. they gave me kind of a star wars mercenary vibe, like mandolorians but without the tradition heavy focus.
That being said, a race of superpowered space Conans is still based as frick.
This and the Sento Saiyans has me like
> as long as they keep the Dragon Ball AF homosexualry segregated and squashed, Shueisha could take up some fan ideas to build the worldbuilding better
Just have to keep the Mexicans and super saiyan 10 spam out of it
>Yuliban
Huh just saw he stopped relying on AIslop and went back to commissioning people. Wonder what caused the change of heart
"Kryptonians as fake Saiyans"
Why does this sound lame and gay? Weren't there actual warrior races in the DC universe?
>Saiyans being electric monkey Conans
*Raffs* how about lesbian sticcs instead
>we're stuck with U6 soíyans forever
Woulda been pretty cool if Toriyama had heard about this before his death.
Toriyama wouldn't have cared. He checked out of DB a long time ago.
Toyotaro though might be all over this kind of shit
Koyama too
Based image.
Invincible mind broke DC
Because they are incapable of understanding the character of Superman.
For the inevitable Superman/Goku crossover.
>We have to cater to the Invincible fanbase
>Kryptonians are a warmongering empire
>implying they conquered other worlds
>somehow they never discovered yellow suns make them gods
>somehow blowing up one planet was enough to wipe how a species spanning multiple systems
?????
>somehow they never discovered yellow suns make them gods
We see a yellow sun turn red before exploding in a flashback.
So if anything, it seems that Kryptonians here had a yellow sun at first, which probably helped kick off the space empire.
And they they ran into (probably) Darkseid.
Warrior race ya say?
why do they keep reinventing these great comics and shitting it up? make something new.
>make something new.
Everytime they try that, no one watches it. Reinvention is the only thing that seems to work.
Because Invincible became popular
Wishing to tarnish Superman's legacy for failing to save his wife and friends from his own hubris and ultimately finding he is immortal and only wants a death that will not come no matter what he does.
dragonball
Because Superman II was great and so General Zod is a canon villain. And what is a General without an army?
Because they were at one point then the scholars took over. I remember there was a story about a Kryptonian who was a lab assistant that was nostalgic for the warrior era. His boss was building a time machine so this guy went on a killing spree to grab up gadgets to help his favorite warlord only the machine malfunctioned and dumped him in space in the future after Krypton exploded. The council band time travel after that cause the machine has a retrieval function that showed the time traveller was dead. Instead of launching a full investigation which would have revealed Krypton's future destruction they just assumed time travel is deadly and left it at that.
How do you think they created an empire? By being hug it out types?
