      >Body is literally drawn to be curvaceous and sexy
I mean I don't think this one counts when the artist goes out of their way to make it look more sexy than monstrous

I do understand what you're saying. It's a matter of personal taste, specifically where you draw the line on what traits are attractive or not even when applied to a non-human body
Does it count if there's eyelids that can flutter provocatively? Lips that can smile? A voice?
I got into this on another topic a while back but the gist is that people are more often than not going to put traits that have some human appeal or another when designing monsters and the like, even ones intended to be scary

Agree with basic sentiment, but. Am I forgetting things or doesn't the end indicate that her memories are reasserting themselves? Also what happier ending could there realistically be? The Prince's people would never accept her true identity so they couldn't really just openly get together

          >Pretty much everyone that worked on the games acts embarrassed at the idea because it was "too silly"
I hate it when people pick the one scapegoat thing to project their insecurities with their own work on. Especially if that one scapegoat thing was something you actually liked. It's physically impossible for the Fallout setting to not be silly, and Fallout 2 leans particularly heavily into it. Your first companion is a tribal dude with a bone through his nose. You'd think that would be the one they'd try to mea culpa over.

I cant stand it in particular because the idea of wasteland monsters being experimented on by other "monsters" and actually growing to become more than what they began as, and beyond what their would-be masters wanted them to be, is peak Fallout imo
Like it's one thing if you just grudgingly accept the tragedy of the good thing they built in the old Vault being torn down by the Enclave, but for the creators to piss on the very idea for no good goddamn reason is just...
I don't see how you could paint them as any more out of place than prank calling the Enclave, or picking up a cursed dog that bombs your stats

Doesn't help when Goris is one of the best companions of the series. Him and marcus are my bros.

Yeah, that's my point. Fallout 2 is over the top silly a lot of the time. It's the faux-50's style, shit like the tribals, the two-headed cows, the green dudes literally called "Super Mutants", all of the faux-50's robots but especially the one with a human fricking brain sitting in a glass case. It's a silly setting that's then played straight and has enough internal consistency and grit to be taken somewhat seriously. Magic suddenly being real would be too silly for Fallout. An invasion of Japanese schoolgirls would be too silly for Fallout. But mutant monsters also gaining intelligence one way or another? That's right in the Fallout wheelhouse. Even the first real monster you fight is a mutated rat that has gained enough intelligence (and vocal cords) to speak with you.

The frick are you on about.
Compared to some of the shit they did later on that’s closer to hard sci-fi than anything.
Remember the canceled FO3 Van Buren?
Well Bethesdas been cribbing notes from it for a while, one of those things being the “if a GEK gets fricked with plant life in the area goes fricking crazy and mutates rapidly”.
Tell me with a straight face that that’s “hard sci-fi.”

Lol true. You listen to any horror director post 1960 and you will definitely know that something was a fetish to them at one point.

Why does this keep happening anyway?

        Anonymous

Because fear and arousal are closely linked. It's a matter of intimacy. Someone who can get close to you is inherently scary for the majority of people because it means exposing your flaws and inner thoughts to someone who may reject them instead of appreciating them. In the same way, trying to learn about someone may expose you to things about them you weren't prepared to find out.
The story of Bluebeard, which is about trust, discovery of one's partner, and the sometimes violent nature of obsession, is a good example of how that plays into horror.
If you want to see how the opposite is also true, see just about any supernatural romance: The protagonist is pulled into a strange new world to discover themselves and their lover under circumstances that would normally be terrifying.
This is also why a lot of rivals will be treated as if they have romantic chemistry: They have a deep understanding of each other's personalities and flaws, meaning their relationship is intimate in a counterintuitive way.
Fetishist fiction and horror fiction naturally mesh because both arousal and fear are personal. What appeals to one person, what scares another, these things tend to be linked to the individual.
