Why are you sleeping on Blue eye samurai?

The show starts off as a generic samurai revenge story but evolves into a distinctive story with pretty clever twists and imaginative direction. Aside from the MC's unrealistically strong abilities (which could be attributed to her being a halfbreed) and a couple of cringe moments, the writing is pretty much perfect. The Onryo episode was easily the best-written thing I've witnessed in an animated series. It was unironically fricking beautiful.

I can't support a series with a self hating MC.

How the frick was she not gonna turn into a self hating edgelord?

No it doesn't, shut the frick up. The plot is awful, the MC is entirely unlikeable with a shit, flimsy motivation. When people say "the strong woman trope done wrong" she is exactly what they mean. Kinda ironic cuz the show has no good female characters. Don't recommend it.

I'm sad because I have to get married, like every woman in my society. I'm surprised how I forgot what should have been obvious and this definitely wasn't for the benefit of the American audience.

        >When people say "the strong woman trope done wrong" she is exactly what they mean.
The people who constantly babble on about the strong women trope done wrong are the kind who think the strong women trope is inherently wrong. They'll try to defend themselves by citing Sarah Connor or Ellen Ripley as good examples even though they'd still hate them if their movies came out exactly the same today.

        >think the strong women trope is inherently wrong.
Actually it's basic knowledge of biology that proves a woman would struggle against a teenage boy.

        >They'll try to defend themselves by citing Sarah Connor or Ellen Ripley as good examples even though they'd still hate them if their movies came out exactly the same today.
You do realise that they actually struggled to defeat a Terminator and an Alien using the machinery near them.

I don't see you complaining about Hollywood action movie heroes performing impossible feats. Sounds like you were inherently raised to view women as lesser.

This is probably bait but whatev, the reason why Ripley and Sara are liked is because they actually have to strugle in order to achieve their goals, plus they have actual human flaws, while most modern "Strong women" are just just planks of wood in terms of character with the only flaw that need to realise just how perfect they are

Eat shit homosexual. For one Connor and Ripley were sympathetic and had perfect and simple motivations- survive and/or protect. Blue Eyed b***h's motivation is the exact opposite- kill and destroy and blame others for your misfortune. The fact that you are moronic enough to compare the two proves you have no idea what makes a good "strong female character" is. Pro tip: it's not about physcial strength.

No one hates Ripley or Sarah. You know that Ripley was written with no genre, so it works because could be a man or a woman. In aliens works for the same reason of why sarah works, its a rambo-woman but the inherent role of mother give an important context to the story and make the character embrace the female role. There is no conflict with being a woman or her role in the society.

Mizu is so full of conflicts that become a caricature in a realistic setting. Sarah lost her child, same with ripley but their character is not built around a loss or a grieff. Funny thing is The Bride in Kill Bill is built in a revenge story similar to Mizu, but tarantino understand that Kill Bill is an edgy caricature, not to be taken seriously like BES pretend to be.

And the bride had actual reasons for revenge aka being beaten within an inch of her life and having everyone at her wedding murdered (including her child as far as she knew). Mizu's reason for wanting to kill her father is literally being born.

Which makes her quest a means to commit metaphorical suicide. Her anger is directed at herself just as much as the white men she's looking to slaughter.

The great thing is she tries to give it up, not in a "refusing the call" manner, but a genuine "oh shit, this is dangerous, and a safer path has seemingly appeared." Its only because her fighting autism gets the better of her that said path becomes untenable.

Yeah, no, Mizu's man was a gay

Well yeah, no disagreement there. The point is she made an effort to get off the revenge path after starting it, unlike say a farm boy who waits until his uncle and aunt get murdered before he picks up the sword.

This, it's weird how many "chosen one" type girls I've been seeing in movies.

        >Only you can do this, because... we're gonna give you everything to do it because only you can do it because you're special I guess

The trope already got old fast when it was with boys, then it got mixed with the bossgirl trope.

For me it was the Mountain pass episode, everyone was acting smart, hell for a second i actually believed that the HEIJI SHINDO was really going to betray the irish c**t however for me the weirdeat moment was when Akemi decided to stay at the castle, even though that lifestyle was shown to be like hell for her and also Seki died for her to escape

Because she realized her only real options are living as an obscure peasant toiling in the dirt or pulling the strings of the second most powerful man in the nation while playing the role of the pretty face.
