They toys performed so badly that they actually jeopardized other marvel toy lines at big box retailers by clogging shelves and forcing them to order less of other product.

You're thinking of Black Panther 2.

Those fricking Shuricopters were everywhere for a time and nobody was buying Iron Heart or what's her face in the blue power rangers costume.

I assure you I am not.

BP2 didn't do nearly as bad as eternals.

The only thing that performed worse than eternals that I know of in the last decade was the last jedi, which effectively killed big box interest in extra space investment for star wars.

There's an entire fricking pallet of Martin Freeman Black Panther 2 action figures at this overstock junk store in my neighborhood. They've been there for months and no one has bought a single one lmao

Feige can't accept that most of the recent projects were received "meh" at best, flops at worst, with one big hit once a while.
So he's still trying to move forward with plans involving projects, such as this and Young Avengers.

What would even happen in a sequel? The most interesting characters are already dead, the deviants are a literal nothing and they resolved their plot with the Celestials?

Unless it's gonna be 2 hours of Sersi and Black Knight fricking in various positions don't make it.

What are you, mad? Let him make Eternals 2! let him make Eternals 3 if he wants! Every single one will be a loss for Disney in the hundreds of millions! The faster the mouse goes bankrupt and dies, the sooner we can go back to studios making movies that aren't flaming dogshit.

Did you forget your meds again?
The licensing and merchandising profits from Star Wars and Marvel are more than enough to cover production costs for the MCU and Star Wars movies every year.
The rest of the company (ie most of it) runs off of Park revenue, and merch/licensing from all it's other properties.
It will never face bankruptcy like WB or Paramount. Never ever.

marvel I believe but outside of grogu no one cares about stars wars merch. Can we all at least agree that Star Wars is a dc tier ip by this point?

They ruined star wars with the sequels and now the toys dont sell because all disney will allow hasbro to make is shitty OC character from the andor tv show of a boring human in a brown jacket, and no cool background alien toys at all anymore

I thought they still hadn't recouped the cost of buying Star Wars. Like it's self-sufficient, maybe, but it has been a net loss as it hasn't paid for itself yet.

I've said this a hundred times, Eternals was a perfect property for Disney+, they pooched it making a movie of it.
It has a large-as-frick main cast, with characters that need a lot of time to develop, a story arc literally millennia in length, villains that need introduction and development, and so on and so forth.
It was just too much at once for a movie to possibly introduce.

It was just end up being another Inhumans tier disaster. Making it a movie and praying you can trick enough MCU normies to watch it was the shorter and less painful option

I mean no one has found the key to making money off of Streaming (the secret is being the ONLY streaming service), at best it's roughly a break-even endeavor.
But it would have done the property actual justice over a series, and might have garnered fans to it. The movie rushes along throwing so many ideas so fast that it's just not really enjoyable to sit through. None of the characters are developed at all.
