Except you are wrong about Mike. That autistic loser just likes his slop. He might not like capeshit but he watched fricking Lower Decks despite refusing to watch TCW. Frick Mike. Pretentious c**t. He's humiliated by how base his actual tastes are that he attacks anything adjacent and quietly confesses things he truly loves as the exception and not the rule.
Art-house films are just a beard. If this Black person weren't desperate to be taken seriously he'd be happily watching cartoons.

I realized Mike was an idiot when he said Cobweb was the greatest movie of all time.

It's not bad, but it's just an average horror movie and he was gushing over it like it was some sort of masterpiece of film making.

That was pretty eye-opening to me too. I really enjoyed Midnight Mass. I thought it was excellent. But the monologues were so bad anyone would be justified dropping the show because of them.
It's also pretty funny that Mike's solution to the death of cinemas is for people to just start showing good movies. Total midwit opinion.

    >Why did Cinemaphile turn on them?
I haven't "turn(ed) on them" but there are a few major issue with the channel:
    >Josh and Jack are intolerable, and frequently are involved. I refuse to watch them.
    >They're watching moronic garbage no one cares about and sitting around drunk most of the time now. They don't watch new stuff nearly often enough.
    >They love the film industry, which is pathetic and sad. I love kino but would also celebrate in the streets if the industry completely died. That wouldn't be the end of film, but a new and utterly necessary beginning. For Mike and Jay, that death would be tragic and an ending, as evidenced by the dickless video lamenting cinema closers.
Watch new stuff, keep the two effeminate clowns away from the content, and stop caring about the "Hollywood magic" of it all.

I hate the Neil Breen reviews. His movies are obviously deliberately bad. Every review they ask if he's in on it is yet. Of course he is. Wiseau I buy and the guys who made Partners and Suburban Sasquatch, but Breen's movies were always supposed to be bad. It's on purpose. That's the joke. I don't know how much more obvious it could be. And then they sit around and play stupid so they can review it anyway even though they've said they don't like movies that are deliberately bad. Just do another black spine or something, Jesus Christ.

There's no nuance in the realm of politics these days. Either you accept what you're being fed through social and mass media or you reject it. That's the crux of it.

            Anonymous

So then what opinion are you left with when you reject those? That both sides are moronic?

              Anonymous

Nothing. What opinion can you have on let's say the Israel Palestine conflict, if you reject the information you're being given on it? You don't have any basis to go from.

Besides the rejection itself is an opinion. Because by rejecting what you're being told, you're delegitimizing those story-tellers.

I'm gonna say something no one has thought of and I know is the true reason. 10+ years ago all tubers were fake positive shills
    >HEY FRIENDS ITS MOVIEBUDDY HERE REVIEWING THE FREAKING AWESOME NEW PIXAR MOVIE.
RLM were basically a bunch of cynical impossible to please critics who shat on things with no filter. This was incredibly new and fresh for the time and made them stand out as an alternative. However in the current year you got EVERYONE being a negative butthole, many of them straight up clickbaiting and grifting audiences. In comparison RLM seems tame now, and people can't stand them liking things instead of tearing it apart. Though I would also say they very well have mellowed out as they have gotten older.

      This is pretty compelling, actually.

      >Why did Cinemaphile turn on them?

Them praising the horrible Star Wars sequels kind of outed them as having no actual clue what a good movie is like. SW 7-9 are legitimately some of the worst written, least coherent, most soulless corporate products ever and they unequivocally praised the first two. It's hard to walk that back.

After that they spent a long time (multiple years) avoiding any popular/new/relevant movies and only talking about obscure shit, causing casuals to lose interest. I bet they still make tidy Patreon money, but they're nowhere near the phenomenon they used to be.

I swear they avoid new shit because they are both too cheap to buy movie tickets for a fricking job of reviewing movies where they make thousands of dollars per week. I also swear it's because they were afraid of having the wrong opinion.

they tried to be centrist midwits and paid the price. mike outting himself as a hardcore trek fan also demonstrated that his starwars criticisms were tainted with impurity. Zoomers may not know this, but trek versus starwars fandoms use to be as rabbid as nintendo versus segadrones. It was gen-x brand war bullshit that motivated them to shit on the prequels, not some deep understanding of the craft.

As time went on they became increasingly homosexual. They are like the disney channel now. They always tote the line and dick suck every movie they review unless it's a VHS tape nobody has heard about.

They lost their edge and put significantly less effort into everything. I think Jay would talk about anything because he seems to love movies but Mike is obviously super checked out. They haven't been funny in a long time which is lame because they used to be quite funny, this would be fine but they're not doing anything else either.

They really aren't funny. They have some interesting discussion about film.

But every time Mike tells a joke and everyone else fake laughs like its super witty. embarrassing.

I remember that one video where Mike kept stupidly squawking about "delicious Shaq meat" and the reddit gang all acted like it was the joke of the century. Later on Rich was wearing the phrase on a T-shirt, because it was so good you see, and because he has to show deference to Mike.

Almost none of their content has any effort put into it anymore.
I was shocked at the recent "death of movies" black void video because mike actually did some work/research for the first time in bloody years.

Their whole "recap the story synopsis from wikipedia while giggling" schtick is fricking tiresome. Every "re:view" is like that, and even BOTW is like that nowdays.

I've been rewatching old HITB episodes lately and they're so much fun. It's like they're different people altogether.

Even if you like someone, if that person becomes morw and more jaded with everything (even if hes right to certain degree) and behaves like a depressed/blckpilled individual, you will like them less with passage of time.
We search for positiveness in the longrun, it truth that we need confirmation, someone that have similar bias but in the long run it leads to nothing, moreover it leads to maladaptivnes.
They can joke about mike being an alkoholic, but he sure looks like one, like a person that just gave up on life, noone wants to be friends with that kind on person, maybe just other deadbeat alkoholics.
Jay feels like a conformist and it just crash with his persona, while rich is there because hes that friend because he has no drive.
Its funny to see them ramble from time to time, but people get tired of their shtick, also as of late yeara their opinion is somewhat shit 50/50, i feel like smaller amount of people can use em as a lighthouse of good entertaimen.
I still watch some of their shit, but being jaded with wolrd myself I just feel like its like smelling each other farts and comparing how similar they smell.

I still watch them, but the channel quality has dropped.
They review like 6 movies a year on hitb now. Add in 'talk about' recommendations if you want and bump it to 8.
They used to review like 3 times that per year.
They would say 'we don't want to watch that movie' but that's where their content is. Talking about movies that annoy them is their channel.

And the botws are getting bad. It seems like they are running out of good picks.

I can enjoy their retrospectives, but I mostly watched them for current movie reviews. They stopped doin that.
It was a public service in a way, they gave insight and so I can know what to see and what to avoid.

I really don't care about all the other stuff like wheel of the worst. If some people enjoy seeing a smash cut of a bunch of dudes seeing horrible movies for fun on weekends, good for them.

Only if they have something good to replace it with. We're not seeing a bold new direction or a big new idea from them. They've reclined into aimless casual banter of podcast culture and I think it's because they don't really have anything to say anymore.

it's quite the opposite. blabbing about the new starwars can get tiresome, as we see here. talking ideas is actually better, because stuckman & co. seem empty behind their eyes and can't steal that.
