So what you're saying is Batman should have taken off everything but his mask so he could maneuver better? I thought that too in the final scene. They imply that he was there all night and he got super dirty. That's the longest we'd seen him in the Batsuit and he was probably really stinky too because he was submerged in water for so long. Some of it might have gotten in through the bullet holes. I think it would have been better for Batman to strip down as much as possible in that situation but maybe he didn't want people to recognize Bruce Wayne's penis.

You HAVE been jerking off to Robert Pattinson for over 15 years and you can't get enough of him. You wanted to see full frontal nudity from him in The Batman but the best you got was a few topless scenes but now he's old and flabby. He's not the pretty vampire boy you used to love. The only thing that will satisfy you is the sight of his throbbing erection. You go around the internet insisting that The Batman should have been rated R so it could have more violence and darker themes but you don't actually care about that. You just wanted to see a big fat wiener.

Were we supposed to get the lesson that Riddler was wrong from this film?
I feel like they acted like Batman's crusade was pointless (because fair enough it was) and that Gotham would ultimately be saved by Batman becoming a symbol of hope and the right people getting elected.
Except Riddler and his followers dismantled the corrupt group running Gotham and manipulated Batman into helping them do it, and any shot Gotham has at being fixed electorally is owed to him for removing the people who kill people who look like they might change things.
Being generous I'd be willing to give them that Riddler's way wouldn't be enough to fix everything but he still gave the "good guys" the only chance they are ever going to get at being effective.
The Riffler is a more efficient vigilante than Batman. He takes care of the Gotham Crime Family with surgical precision a la Rorschach in a spectacular manner.
The writer's room realized this way too late into production and Reeves directed Dano to behave like a screaming spastic in the interrogation room scene to allow the audience to emotionally distance themselves from him. The problem is that damage control works against the movie. You NEED a charismatic villain. And you owe respect to this characters too, there will always be someone in the audience rooting for them.
I think people miss the point that Riddler never wanted to save Gotham. Because Batman wasn't a symbol of hope yet his vigilantism only inspired vengeance in Riddler. In the interrogation scene it's clear Batman is in the wrong for creating Riddler and they are both mentally ill. So B-man finally learns his lesson and stops the vengeance from going too far.

He's more nihilistic than angry at this point because he starts doubting if his actions make any difference. Then Riddler shows up and shines light on the corruption, which is what Batman should have been concerned with all this time.
This Batman basically only starts his character arc 2 years into the crusade.

To me this Batman is basically one without the League of Shadows to properly educate him, as if one day Wayne decides to put on a balaclava and start indiscriminately beating the shit out people up at night and with extreme prejudice. A batman alone. On his own. Learning only from the experience of his own mistakes and frick ups.
In fact he reminds me of a character in the novel 2666, an orphan who circumstantially comes across a lot of forensic and criminal science literature and simply decides to read those books to become a cop.

>A batman alone. On his own. Learning only from the experience of his own mistakes and frick ups.
This is the same guy who has Alfred do 90% of the detective work, still walks directly into gunfire, lets bombs explode in his face and didn't test his flight suit until it was time to jump off a building. Now that I think about it, what the frick did he even do that for? What were the police going to do? Shoot him? He's bulletproof. He has more gear than he actually needs and is really being Batman as an excuse to play with his toys. His internal monologue about being angry and actually care about the city is such a convincing lie it even tricked the audience.
The Batman is nothing but a childish thrillseeker with no training or experience that relies on cheap theatrics rather than his own skill. He hasn't been humbled yet. He needs a big guy to teach him a lesson.

This is an interesting take.
I think the film should have deconstructed the Riddler more intelligently though. As I said, he was extremely effective at rooting out the corruption and the good guys owe their future successes to him. They should have highlighted that his methods can only go so far and shown that he doesn't care rather than have him sperg out and blow up a dam for no reason.

The climax was the only part of the movie that looked distinctly bad. The rest was good. I get a feeling the stupid "flood gotham city" plot was shoved in last minute to give the film a bigger climax.
would also explain why that entire last section of the movie suddenly comes in at a point when it feels like the movie would naturally conclude.
instead it just keeps going.
That scene is not from the movie tho, it's a photoshop edit.
I know because I saw this exact same thread when the movie released and went to check as I still had the file in my computer.
The ending was mass effect 3 tier. You even had Batman jab himself with a stimshot to take on a lone gunman. That's no different from marauder shields. AOC gets shot in the torso by a rifle and literally walks it off with no blood on her person. The movie had a chance of doing things differently if Batman had colluded with the Riddler after hearing about his family's corrupt past. Then Catwoman could have found something that expunged the Waynes, leading to Batman turning on the Riddler and fighting the good fight right before the end. It would have worked, it would have shown how vulnerable early Batman was and that scene would have been far more engaging than the slop we got with the Riddler overacting in jail and the le deranged 4chud incel uprising that's totally not a parallel to Jan 6.
It seems the director wanted to introduce some batman 66 magic into the film.
