Why did Denzel bring a rookie he never met along with him on his crime spree? His plan would have worked without him.

He tested him to see if he was corruptable. When he realized he wasn't he sent them to the hispanics to be killed.

It was his plan B if Jake cant be corrupted. He didnt anticipate Jake saving the girl would have save him from Smiley.

denzel needs his drug dealer friend's money to pay the russians. he needs a scapegoat for taking his money and killing him so he doesn't talk. the scapegoat is a rookie high on angel dust and beer
his plan wouldn't have worked without the rookie

it was a test if he can corrupt jake

He tested him to see if he was corruptable. When he realized he wasn't he sent them to the hispanics to be killed.

he already has a warrant and the backing of his boys to kill roger. He literally explained in the same scene how can he get away with it.

His plan would have worked if not for Ethan saving smileys cousin. Otherwise Denzel planned it perfectly.

What if he was just like yeah i get my shit pushed in all the time and had a big mexican gangbang, Denzel couldn't have seen that one coming.

He didn't expect the rookie to be a moralgay to the extent that he was. In case you missed it, Alfonso was extremely jaded.

this was based on a true story. only in real life all the rampart cops were criminals lmao they only got busted because one undercover shot another undercover over road rage

Denzel had a warrant so it wouldn't matter who shot him

        Anonymous

It would matter because without a fresh face's story corroborating with the rest of his squad, it just looks like they walked in and shot the guy for no reason.

What happens to the rest of the corrupt cops on Alonzo's team? I was sure there was going to be some offhand line about Jake forwarding evidence to internal affairs or something but they just sort of stop existing after their designated scene.

Weird plot hole. The 3 wise men and those other cops would definitely be out to kill Jake at this point

        >It's not what you know, it's what you can prove.
Alonzo died a hero in the public's eye. One of the themes of the movie are truth and credibility.

What was the significance of the news cast at the end saying he died serving a warrant? They could have swayed public opinion more if they just told the truth that he was gunned down by a gang driving down the road.

wise men covered it up most likely they had serious power. berenger literally tells him he doesn't want to see him on the front page the next day killed by the Russians

The movie doesn't end with Jake being in the clear. He's still going to get drug tested as far as we know.

what proof did he have? Alonzo was killed by the Russians. you think those nogs in the jungle or smiley is going to back Jake up in court? tf lol

Yeah he’s pretty much powerless. He saw all their faces and saw them all committing crimes. Alonzo only brought him around because he was either going to come into the fold or be killed. Or Alonzo was going to die and not care either way. The next morning when they all found out Jake was alive and Alonzo was dead they’d be scrambling to kill Jake
