Yeah in this film Doom was on the same station/craft hit by the cosmic storm. His skin became metal and he conducted electricity

Just saw the movie for the first time five minutes ago. He can absorb electricity through sources and hold it in his body and then expelled at any time he wants.

      >early 2000s F4 movie in 15+ years
I actually never saw it. I was at my uncle's house and popped the dvd in. It was one of those bootleg cases, only it wasn't the movie it was a porno.

Cheap easy effect, I mean it’s a terrible script would you really try?

Because they didn't have time to explain how he could build and iron man armor and when he learned sorcery

      >explain how he could build and iron man armor
Unironically pretty easy to do in a way that works with the movie's plot
      >prototype space-suit built by Doom for their original travel to space

I always thought it was supposed to be some sort of "elemental" theme thing.
Reed is like water, Ben and Johnny are obvious, Sue was air, and Doom was...lightning/electricity.

Well he was metal, and metal conducts electricity.

The idea that the FF represent the four elements is an idea that came up a few times. Diablo once sent them to face their elemental counterparts only to be foiled when they swapped enemies.

What does reed have to do with water? does sue really get air just from forcefield choking?

        >What does reed have to do with water?
His stretchiness means his body can flow. At least I think that's the logic the writers used.
Sue gets air because air is invisible.

Because for some reason movie suits feel they need to give Doom super powers in the first place.

I'll give you this much, the second season was much better. It seemed like they were finally figuring out what the show should be, and then it was thankfully put down. Also, the theme song is made by a rapist.

Personally, I thought movie Doom was awesome. I guess my only problem is that his motivation was ridiculous. He was pissed because he had powers I guess.

Nah, he loved his powers. He was pissed Reed's blunder cost him a fortune, and later that Reed cucked him.

I remember thinking the movie's Johnny and Ben were near perfect; of the main cast, they were the ones giving it their all for their performances. Michael Chiklis in particular demanded practical effects for his costume, even though that meant spending hours just getting ready.

    >05 FF mixed the 616 and Ultimate origins so Doom was present in the accident
    >you need your bad guy to have some way of fighting your good guys, and having him create robots to fight them would be expensive and boring
    >bringing in a powered suit would mean there's no logical reason to have him wearing his coat/hood and would mesh with the base design too much
    >they're Sci-Fi flicks and you can't just drop bonafide magic into it
It was just a replacement for his magic and a way to have him be a threat to four people at the same time, while keeping the visuals intact. Honestly, in an age where Bullseye was literally Collin Farrell with a tattoo, Story Doom was surprisingly well translated. He got the comic accurate mask, he got the well tailored outfit, and the metal skin was an Ultimate thing which I didn't think was too bad. It wasn't perfect, but it's not easy to sell a literal magician king in a movie about space explorers in a Pre-MCU world, so they did their best. Compare it to the shitshow we got a decade later, and even other capeflicks around that time, and you'll see it wasn't that bad.
